Fun Facts: 1) The interaction between Oguri and Rudolf is a reference to Yukio Okabe (Rudolf's main jockey) who rode Oguri during this race. Oguri's main jockey decided to ride Soccer Boy (Dicta Striker). "Take it easy" is Okabe's motto that he got from Pay The Butler (Obey Your Master)'s jockey: Chris McCarron. 2) Creek cut off a Mejiro, but unfortunately they didn't get rights to use the name. You can see the character's clothes are that aqua color all of them wear though. 3) The donut eating contest in Season 1 of Pretty Derby is a direct reference to this race.

The more you know : Symboli Rudolf speaking with Oguri before the race is a reference to Yukio Okabe (who was Rudolf’s main jockey) who rode the real Oguri in this race for the first time. This was due to Oguri’s main jockey taking the ride on Soccer Boy (Dicta Striker) instead. “Take it easy” is Okabe’s personal motto and he got these words from American jockey Chris McCarron who he is good friends with, who rode Pay The Butler (aka Obey Your Master) in the Japan Cup.

Honestly - I don't understand the conversation about the quality drop in cour 2... Even saying that season 2 and 3 looked better? Sure i can agree that some moments weren't animated great (Ellerslie Pride running on the track before the japan cup ) but i don't think it is that much of a drop off.. anyway.. Opinions can differ..

Dicta striker is a badass, man. Put respect on that name. Pulling up 3rd in a race she's not conditioned for, against three titans AND injured.

I said the same thing when I was watching. Differing opinions and all but movies aside I think this is by far the best looking Umamusume has been. Movies aside because they have a much MUCH larger budget and its unfair to put the two in the same camp.

Haven’t watched the reaction yet but I just got done watching both of these myself and bro.. Ep22 is absolutely my favorite Umamusume episode OAT Obviously phenomenal animation, but even more: Oguri’s speech while breaking her Zone had me lightheaded from how hyped I was getting CINGRAYS FIRST WINNING CONCERT Tamamo and Oguri’s psychic speech while looking at their younger selves meeting had me tearing up Tamamo and Oguri’s hug was peak, as well as what I assume is foreshadowing for the 90’s Generation from Maruzensky and Rudolf (McQueen, Helios, Ruby, all them.) I’m also assuming that next season, Creek, Chiyo, Yaeno and Ardan are gonna Shine heavily

This Arima Kinen according to manga readers (myself included) is probably the second best race in the entirety of cingray. As for the best one you have to wait for season 2 to know what it is, which if we're basing on the pacing for the first season would happen by then

Making Dicta do the winning live after running at full strength for a 2500m race, with a deep cut on her forehead, losing lots of blood, and a broken tooth, is craaazy lmaooo we really do need her in the game

Holy Mother of AWESOME! what a great way to cap of the season! great Insights by you as well here are some of mine, for those interested at 21:12, you can actualy HEAR Dicta hitting the gate nice touch! (you can hear a dull THONK! right as the typical KAT-CHANK of the Gates opening sounds 25:41, a reminder that those gates are made out of 4mm thick steel piping and Dicta BEND those WITH HER HEAD (big ouch!) Soccer Boy (the real Dicta, and yes, a Male) had serious Nosebleed from that hit, doesnt sound to bad right? except that Horses are dominant Nose Breathers and in a Race no less were they breath HARD that quickly becomes an Issue (lets say this was IRL, so no "Anime Law" Dicta would NEVER take part in that winning Life, she would be sidelined immediatly and checked for Skull Fractures but at the Least would have a Concussion) edit: also the goddamn blood loss, head wounds are just pissing blood like nobody´s buisness 35.10 Tamamo Cross showed in this race what realy made him so dangerous, his sheer Stamina in long spurts and yes, they started their Spurt at the second to last Corner, almost 500m earlier then anyone sane would start theirs 45:52 what to say.... the sheer badassnes aside, i absolutely Love Oguri´s expression, everyone goes full "Game Face" when they enter the Zone but Oguri feels nothing but Joy, and it shows in the biggest smile she can muster while running her heart out 52:16 oh you know it, remember that this is 1988-89, the 90s are coming, and so is the Golden Decade of JP Horse Racing in 93-94 we get "BNW" Biwa Hiahide, Narita Taishin and Winning Ticket in 94 Japan gets its 5th Classic Triple Crown with Narita Brian, and then later in Brians Career, his battles with Mayano Top Gun and the "Sibling Duel" with Biwa in 1998/99 we get the golden generation, Silence Suzuka, Special Week, King Halo, Seijun Sky, El Condor Pasa, Grass Wonder etc and at the Turn of the Century we get TM Opera´s insane streak, and head to head duels with Meisho Doto and it just keeps going...... 54:40 You are thinking of Yutaka Take, and yes, Super Creek was the First Horse he rode into the G1´s and also his first G1 Win with the Kikuka-sho was also a Record for youngest Jockey to win a G1 he was 19 (he also made a record before that, 100 wins at 18 (i feel like a failure lol) he also holds the Opposite record, oldest Jockey to win a G1 at 50 years old he is still racing there are 3 decades, over 2 dozen Horses you heard of as an Umamusume fan, over 2 thousand Races and almost a Billion Dollar in Winning Purses of reasons why he is a Living Legend Super Creek and Silence Suzuka still hold a special Place in this mans heart

Dicta Striker was a legit horse actually. He won 5 of 7 or 8 of his GRADED races and 2 of those were G1s.

again you probably wont be readin this, but it is implied that dicta striker finished 4th in the race. since creek passed her. but de to creek being disqualified, dicta took the 3rd spot. hence why she is in the live.
