Remember that it is episode 12, and this season is clearly odd to have 15 episodes, so in the broadcast this episodes was like a final episode for the season, the three other were more like a bonus, but that work pretty well for the mood of this episode. I won't lie, there isn't a lot of couple in anime that work as well as Koyomi and Hitagi. If I need to think of lover in anime, they clearly are on the top of the list and you can see why now. Also, I was just thinking and I will maybe said more on discord later, but when you think about it, yeah, Senjougahara Hitagi is a crab, she doesn't comme forward, walk in circle around a lot of things to finally express herself and have roundabout way to say some things, like a crab that can only walk from side to side and need to turn to go in the direction it want. But also, just like a crab, come straight to it and it might pinch you. I think all the girl have some similiraty to there "animal" and I think I want to explore that.

Food for thought: I don't think we should necessarily believe Araragi's observations at the start of the episode about Senjougahara being romantically dense. We know from their first meeting that she's well-informed about manga and anime tropes, as she thinks that "moe" and "tsundere" should be considered common knowledge. When a person subverts or otherwise plays with as many romance tropes as Senjougahara does, I think it's more likely that she knows exactly what she's doing every time. Her laughter when she deals with the rice on Araragi's cheek is a bit of a giveaway. On the other hand, Araragi is both inexperienced and a bit dense, so it shouldn't be surprising that he's aware of the tropes and thinks Senjougahara's failure to follow them demonstrates that she's similarly dense.

While the focus is Araragi and Senjou, I cannot express how emotional the conversation with Senjou's father is for me. When he says 'Look after my daughter' at the start, that line is sort of typical as a 'Father giving their blessing for a man to marry his daughter' kind of line - hence Araragi's flustered reaction before he tells him 'just kidding'. Immediately shows that he has a similarly awkward yet playful side (and the fact that he later 'goes with that after all' at the end of their conversation by asking him genuinely to take care of her is such a sweet way to show his similarity to Senjou too). I also love how forwardly and clearly Senjougahara set her boundaries in telling Araragi she's not ready for the more sexual side of the relationship yet due to her trauma. It's obviously something both sides think about a lot, and can be an awkward topic to touch upon first, but her so seriously speaking about it is just so mature and beautiful to see - I really feel like there aren't many shows that could tackle this as tactfully as mono does.

I can't explain why, I've rewatched Bakemonogatari 5-6 times already and now I'm rewatching it with you and I still get the same pleasure as the first time, especially watching your reaction. Bakemonogatari is the only series I can watch so many times without getting tired.

Also, if you didn't know or haven't noticed, the original Seiyū sing the openings. So, in Hitagi's story, the opening is sung by Seiyū Hitagi, in Kambaru's story, by Seiyū Kambaru, and so on.
