I forgor to say it in the last episode, but yeah, I think of Higuruma as a mix of Yuji and Geto. The three are fed up of the unfairness of the world, Yuji cope by being a cog until he can atone for "his" crime, because he is too kind. Geto wanted to put the sorcerer above the human because of how they were treated but it was coming from a kind heart at first. Higuruma want all peoples to be treated under the same logics and rules, so no one could be committing a crime and not paying for it and no innocent could be sent for a crime they didn't commit. So in the end, saying that if if continue to be by Yuji's side he would hate himself more, I interprete that as a way to say that Higuruma know that he walked a dark path that Yuji didn't take and regret it, regret to not have seen a better option that wouldn't have tainted his heart.
