I completely agree that the same formula over and over of Will being blocked from reuniting with Elfie is VERY annoying at this point, but at least this time it’s also serving as a plot device to get Will to learn to store magic inside him and release it at will.

I think what can be gathered from this episode is Julius' whole act of being a dickhead to everyone and acting narcissistic and selfish is an act. He is a naturally kind person and is genuinely forcing himself to be the complete opposite of that. When he was insulting the other mages, it didn’t feel natural at all
