"his name isn't to be uttered lightly" is quite literal. Jinshi's real name, Zuigetsu, is literally illegal for anyone aside from himself or the Emperor to say; even Anshi isn't allowed to call her son by his real name. Jinshi is aware of this, and it has no bearing on his real birthright either way; he was given a name forbidden to be uttered by others either way as a member of the direct (male) royal lineage. This is why people use his title, 'the Moon Prince', instead; ancient Chinese culture has a lot of pseudonyms for important people for similar reasons. Most people still call him Jinshi partially so he isn't revealed in public, but also because it's an identity they can safely refer to him as. People outside of the rear palace and Gaoshun wouldn't know him by Jinshi, and he doesn't use that name an official public capacity anymore. Maomao specifically I think still calls him Jinshi because she's used to it and horrifically bad at remembering names.

My understanding for jinshi’s role/title is that jinshi is the emperor’s brother and was previously the next in line “imperial prince” because the emperor didn’t have any heirs. But as soon as gyokuyo had her son, that baby son became the official heir and the new next in line to the throne/imperial prince. (remember when they’re storming the castle in s2 and someone calls Jinshi the prince and he corrects them bc he’s like gyokuyo just had a son) So Jinshi is still the brother and *a* prince but just not the next in line. (Kind of like real life prince harry) And then of course we the audience ~know~ that Jinshi’s lineage is actually that hes son of the emperor so he should be next in line but…that’s a separate thing im guessing we’ll get more about later lol
