Finally on the channel and I like to be honest with you guys. I've now seen enough of a game to share my thoughts and that is I really like it... but I don't love it! I'm really enjoying the story but dislike how it's presented or packaged together.

Do I want to continue with it, heck yeah but damn, I'm frustrated sometimes. This is a great example of why art is subjective and why this Marmite ad is perfect. You either love it or you hate it. If you're from the UK, you're really going to get this.

Plenty of content coming soon!

Also Marmite is the scrapings from Satan's ballsack

I'm assuming this might be referencing either Uncharted or Expedition 33 or Death Stranding. I've never played or seen any uncharted so I don't have an opinion on that. Death Stranding had hints of greatness but also too much weirdness or disjointed stuff for my taste (as is typical of Kojima stories)

Light

If I was in your position I wouldn't continue something that is frustrating me (if its really long) if it was something small maybe but a full game or series I wouldn't do it any further. Up to you tho, cuz u da man🤷‍♂️

Chris.N7

It's Death Stranding isn't it? I get it, Kojima fans will have you convinced it's the greatest game ever made but it's just nonsense imo. Like all of his stories. He has cool ideas but man he can't write or direct properly.

Dante_Cubit

I just lost all respect for you as a filmmaker and as a person 😉🤣

N7Phoenix115

I feel like it’s got to be Death Stranding. Definitely not Uncharted or Clair but who knows I could be totally off. Just be true to you Kai and don’t feel like you’ve got to hide any dissatisfaction for us. I know we all want content where you really enjoy yourself but not everything is gonna be a total win that you love. If you loved everything then I’d be worried you are doing more acting than filmmaking 😁

So if marmite comes from Satan's ballsack, does that mean his penis is a Twiglet? :D

N7Phoenix115

Never tasted Marmite as an American but interesting how divisive it is haha

Dante_Cubit

I think Satan might take umbridge you referring to his peepee as a 'twiglet' 🤣

Lady Vexx

Is this about the Death Stranding playthrough? I've never played the game myself, but watching your videos, I can see why it would be frustrating to get through the game.

Dante_Cubit

Oh and it makes sense if it's Death Stranding. I have feelings about that game, as do a lot of the internet

Dante_Cubit

No way it could be Clair Obscur

Danny

Lol I get it. If you’re talking about DS, definitely get it. I’d hope you’d continue, it does keep layering until it’s tied up really nicely in the last 2 hours or so. And the first half of it isn’t paced well between gameplay and deeper story. But yea, sometimes I don’t like stuff either. Whether it’s movies, tv, anime or game, sometimes you have to try to reframe it before going back in.

Pío Rodríguez

That’s completely fair, part of it is that most of the lore is given during gameplay and delivery places, so as someone who even platinum the game I think it’s fair to say it might be a little boring to watch, or at least that it takes you out of the experience. It’s one of those games where you have to play it to enjoy it, a great part of it is receiving the narrative while you are trying to think of the best path while walking, how to avoid and obstacle or defeat an enemy, you don’t get that in the reaction, all you can focus is in the narrative and the gameplay. So I think you should do whatever you think it’s best, this is one of those games where you have to be the one playing it to get the full experience. Either way, we are watching whatever you upload, more than half the video is your insight on things, we are here for you, not actually the games! ❤️❤️❤️

It's Death Stranding isn't it? It really is a marmite game. It really grabbed me as I am well versed in Kojima's games ever since Metal Gear Solid 1 but for tourists Death Stranding can indeed fail to grab them because while the character acting and cutscenes are well directed it's a mechanic heavy game with lots of open world traversal. If you just want to give an edited cutscenes only edited down recap and an analysis at the end I wouldn't mind especially if you are not enjoying the gameplay heavy play through you are watching.

Perilune

I'm not surprised. Death Stranding is incredibly exposition heavy, I just replayed it for the third time and even I get annoyed at parts by how it drags and repeats information constantly. With Metal Gear Solid 5 a ton of the exposition was moved to optional audio tapes you could listen to while playing the missions or wandering the world. It was such a smart change because you could choose how much and when you wanted to engage with that and the experience for the player flowed a lot more smoothly.

Envoy233

Man, I truly get it if you're talking about Death Stranding. I finished the game when it first came out, but for dozens of hours, I wondered what the heck I was even playing, and I nearly gave up. The story does get better, especially for the last couple of hours. It's weird but very artistic, full of metaphors, and gives the audience a positive message through a world full of negativity and loneliness. I remember the emptiness that filled me when I finished the journey, but at the same time, I was glad and satisfied. It's a feeling hard to describe. But yeah, this game is not well-paced between gameplay and story. Sometimes you just stand there listening to NPCs' conversations for several minutes, sometimes you need to walk for an hour just to get to the destination. Whether you decide to continue or not, I'm totally with you. If you do, the whole setting and story around Mads Mikkelsen's character is pretty well-written. I think he got the coolest scenes in this game lol (besides some of Troy Baker's scenes), so I'm looking forward to watching your reactions. Anyways, just wanna say I love your content so much! Hope you're having a great day. (Sorry, English is not my native language, I hope people can understand what I was saying. ;)

Death Stranding and Kojima games have never been my cup of tea either. I don’t see him as the god that others set him up to be. Just another creative with some very interesting creative ideas

Xenomantis

I like playing Death Stranding because it's relaxing, but if I was there for the story I'd watch a much more condensed version of the cutscenes (like literally just the pre rendered ones, no in-game dialogue). The problem is that so much necessary info comes from the dialogue belts

N7Phoenix115

I will put in on the list if or when I make it over to the UK. Do you like put it on bread or toast or something? Or can you just eat it out of the jar you love it so much? lol

The Dutch Dude

Thanks for being honest! Death stranding is a medium best experienced firsthand, that includes all the frustration, boredom and tediousness. Even watching it as a "movie" I start to tune out. It's a much different experience when you play it yourself but even I ca understand and accept if a particular storytelling style doesn't resonate with you. I appreciate your dedication to honesty with your parasocial community. Bruvnor 🫠

The Dutch Dude

Haha I love that most of the comments picked out death stranding 🤣

Pochemuchka

Nah I feel you. The cinematography is very good in death stranding but the actual game itself is probably one of the most boring I've ever experienced and hideo kojima couldn't make a good script if his life depended on it

Callum Warrington

If it is death stranding you are talking about i really hope u continue with it even if u just decide to watch the pre-rendered cutscenes instead.

As an Aussie, I can understand & sympathise with the Marmite analogy. Even if by using our own answer to it (Vegemite).😂

This is just a suggestion, but maybe you can use this game or sequences of it, to tell us exactly what you do not like or what you would do differently. What exactly makes you think it is not well presented or packaged together? If it is Death Stranding, most comments here seem have problems with the story (which I can actually relate) but you stated you do not, so it must be someting else. I can only speak for myself now, but what I like most about your videos is the opportunity to always learn something new about cinematic arts. And if explained well, who says you cannot learn from "bad" examples? Even when the critique is subjective in nature. Btw. for a second this post reminded me about TLOU2. You either a lover or a hater. :-)
