What a surprise this game has turned out to be. Not only is it cinematically beautiful but the story is genuinely surprising me or at least the order in which they are pulling out the big guns. If you know, you know and if you don't, then oh boy... Play The Tape. You're gonna find out.

Verso is voiced by Ben Starr, who is extremely talented. In Final Fantasy 16 he voices the main character and he gives such a real and human performance there too. Hope to see that on the channel one day, great story that deals with the concept of free will and what it means to be human. Also those talking scenes that look gamey are pretty par for the course for this kind of game, and add to the fact this is a game by a very small and new studio. Just a budget thing really.

Awww Kai!!! Leaving yourself on such a huge cliffhanger! I love it but it is like going through it all over again myself haha. Great video and I am so glad you are loving the story. It is much different watching this than playing. I think you'll eventually enjoy a playthrough yourself. Love it!!!

I see what you mean with the abrupt juxtapositions, It may be partly due to the editor cutting out some of the open world gameplay which was meant to serve as breathers. Looking forward to the next episode!

I have put an hour into it, got absolutely smashed by a pissing mime. I was getting frustrated with myself because I kept missing the timings for parries.

Dodge instead, it has a bigger window and as you get that down and start getting perfect dodges you'll be ready to switch to parries.

Honestly for me as someone who is not familiar with these kind of games either, I unapologetically put it on easy mode and the combat is still fun and challenging but it makes the parry and dodge windows larger. My advice for you if you pick it back up is when you encounter a new enemy type and they attack, dodge them until you find the patterns in which they attack like how many hits and in what ways, then begin trying out parrying. Only if you parry all hits will it let you do the oh so satisfying counter. This is what I did and once you start knowing what to expect and when to parry it makes you feel like such a badass. Also not all fights are created equal, like the mime for example puts that white brick shield up and until you fill the yellow break meter and break them, you will not do hardly any damage. There is a lot of strategy to it, or there seemed to be for a novice like myself but I was right there with you getting frustrated but this made the game more experienceable for me as a cold caller. Hope you see this and that it helps/makes sense. Cheers!

Just a heads up that the information spreading around that this game was made by only 30 people is absolutely incorrect. There are around 30 people at Sandfall Interactive that worked on it, but there was plenty of other people that were outsourced to work on this game as well, such as the wonderful music was over 30 musicians alone.

Hey Kal!, fantastic reactions. I wanted to mention, the story about the lead creator of the game finding the musician on soundcloud is actually untrue. The true story is even more crazy. Guillaume Broche explained it on the Dropped Frames podcast (7 min mark) when asked about the sound cloud. He said "Actually that is not true. I was looking for a composer, one night I went to a very obscure indie gaming forum with like ten people. This one night , one hour before me. Lorien had never been there before. He posted this sound file of a piece of music he was working on. I clicked on it, I said, this is very cool, so I sent him a email".
