This is probably my favourite part to date [except Tifa in that dress] however, I have much to say about this part!! I started to notice some cracks in the FF armour and yeah, I want to talk about them so you can see them for yourself in other games, TV shows or movies.

This is why there is a 14 minute discussion at the end and I kind of go on a rant, it may appear as a hate rant but it isn't, I love this game and everything it brings to the table including the allowance of culture in it's writing. I look at it from both the gamers side and from a storytelling perspective in the cinematics. It's a good one, don't miss out and please let me know your thoughts on the questions I have for you.

I mentioned in the last part that now we've had some fun from the Final Fantasy world, it's time to get serious and that's exactly what we got. I'm even shocked at who and what is lost in this part too. Kudos to the writing team.

IIRC the PS4 era ended around the time of the release of FF7 Remake while the next two FF games (16 and FF7 Rebirth) are in the PS5 era. So I wonder if you can see a graphical development in those two games. And some interesting observations stated from you in the end. Some of them might actually explain why I like FF16 more then FF7 Rebirth.

The Card

Even as someone who has played every Final Fantasy game and really enjoys the FF7 Remake/Rebirth.. I can totally see your criticisms/observations about the story beats for this segment! The climb/turk fight and all dialogue sequence that took over Thirty minutes of just cutscenes here was only about....10-15 minutes including gameplay on the original PS1 version! A lot of the fake out deaths that led to actual deaths was a way to string along players of the original game because they initially survived the way they died in the PS1 version only to perish in a new way as a method to showcase the "cosmic balancing" and purpose of the Whispers (the dementor things flying around). The helicopter scenes definitely were entirely too long either way, and seemed to only serve as a way to showcase interactions in the world (stuff falling, Whispers blocking shots, etc). Love the informative reactions as always and glad you seem to be enjoying what you've seen so far of a game so many of us enjoy, cheers!

The dream with Aerith/talk with Tifa at night is actually the result of a choice. Who you go talk to first in the sewer when both are knocked out actually determines who you see on the night of the house. You don't get to see both in one playthrough. This video just showed you both options without telling you that.

What really irks me about FF7 is how many of the antagonists and villains are portrayed as quirky or goofball characters used for comedic affect despite the fact that don corneo is a r****t and p******e

i think for me kai on the subject of what your talking about there at the end in terms of biggs dying and it taking a bit long. i think for those of us who played it back in 97 on PS1 unfortunately Biggs Wedge and Jessie didnt get much screen time at all way less infact i think the idea for the remake was to expand those characters more and for us to get more time in with them ... good example the chapter where you go with jessie and the gang to go to the shinra warehouse that was not in the original game so thats them expanding and giving more screen time to those characters. i think the developers intentions were to make us really care about these characters more and when it came to there eventual deaths for it to hit much harder. obviously this doesnt excuse the length of Biggs death scene but i feel thats what they were tying to do. loved this video dude cant wait for the next one!

Something that has to be taken Into account is this game being more of a sequel than just a remake. It's a continuance of the original ff7 and the movie advent children so that is always hanging over the narrative and those ghosts are the visual representation of change happening along with the green static effect. I really enjoyed that story decision but I can understand why a lot of people wanted a completely faithful remake.

No Guns Life was the anime. super under rated with very interesting world building. watched it off the heels of Megalo Box, another solid "cyberpunk' anime which was top tier.

Oh really!? They really have flushed them out. They definitely left a mark. Also a clever way to split the game into 3 and make more money 🫰🏻. It's padding but done well I'd say. I really liked their characters and the idea of another love interest.

Lolz I love the reactions to all the ghosts, cat, etc. Once you get the background you’ll be like, oooh ok

nickwatic

wow they showed the cloud aerith and tifa resolution scene but not the Barret one, how odd

I will never be upset about constructive criticism from a professional that knows far more than I do about a medium. I enjoyed this game well enough without the nostalgia of the original but it has a ton of problems. Nothing that ruins it for me, it was still a great experience but it could've been better in many moments.
