Back to where it all began!

Going into this game, I had the same frame of mind as Metal Gear Solid. Late 90s, PS1, even though this was a REMASTER of a REMAKE from the GameCube era. We were knocking on an old door so I wasn't expecting much when it comes to the Filmmaking techniques.

Then why did I have this loud voice in my head saying "WHY?!" Why was this game requested? Why did it leave a lasting impression with you guys? Could it have been the writing and not the visuals?

Something was telling me that this game had something special about it and I wanted to know what it was however… What I found was something truly special!

Play The Tape.

P.S. Guys, where do we go next, please? Is it simply Resident Evil 2 Remake? Please let me know below with a preferred video if possible.

Metal Gear and Resident Evil, we are eating so good

Isma

Fuck yeah! One of my fav games of all times. Definitely a turning point in gaming history.

Gavin Jalufka

This was the first game my step-dad showed me that I can remember. The scene with the zombie slow turning towards the camera did scare the shit of me as a child he said I ran screaming down the hall way 🤣. I've loved games ever since.

AussieKick

Let’s go bro!! Also yes, re2 remake is your next one to react too then 3, 4 so on if you will.

Dylan

Oh this was an excellent cut. In some of the RE games, you actually choose your character when you start the game, and they each have a distinct storyline with some unique gameplay and pathing. The video you watched cut the two together to tell a single seamless story. And no, these old fixed-camera RE games had no HUD. You had to open your menu to see ammo, health, map, etc.

gaMerfUll

Didn't expect this cut. But it's nice if a bit confusing for someone that doesn't know how it works. But yeah, you just choose who you play as at the start and play with either Jill or Chris for the whole thing. This video just mixed both campaigns together. With RP walking and everything. Nice.

my body is readyyyyy lmao

LimitlessEntertainment

I'd say u can just go through the remakes now, with some deviations along the way. Re2 remake next.

Creamy Bandit

Great gaming era. Resident evil 1 and 2, ff7 and ff8. Tomb raider, GTA1 and of course metal gear solid 1. Great I.P.s that are just as strong today 30 years later, incredible really.

Kai: "Whats next? Crocodiles?" Leon: "maybe"

Christian Spruill

100% i would recommend going with the remakes for the next 3 games. They really stepped up their game when they remade those, and are the reason i was able to fully enjoy them again.

Me and one of my closest friends are currently working through all the resident evil games going for the platinum trophy, its my first time playing them and im having a blast, this is one of favourites so far out of the 6 we have played

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

I'll have to see if they've done re2. If it has a similar character path, maybe they've spliced it all together. 🤞🏻

PeppaShrekky

Just to clarify, in Resident Evil 1 there are 2 different characters you can choose from, Jill and Chris. The 2 playthroughs are separate. The guy who made this video stitched them both together so in some scenes, it was just a repeat from the different playthrough. The game actually has 8 different endings, depending on who you save. 4 for each character. So you can either get the ending where you escape alone, the ending where you only escape with your companion (Barry for Jill, Rebecca for Chris), with the other character (Jill/Chris) and with both the other character and companion. Also, near the ending where the cutscene quality was a bit worse with Wesker (Mr Sunglasses), that was because it's from a separate game - Umbrella Chronicles. And also, yes these characters do appear more in the series, some more than others. Sorry if This is kinda long

PeppaShrekky

oh and Resident Evil 2 Remake should be your next game

Hännä

What a fun edit, I've never seen this! Very much looking forward to RE2 🤪

LimitlessEntertainment

Okay, thank you for explaining the change in cutscene quality. I was so confused cause I had never seen the cutscenes where both Jill and Chris meet Rebecca at the elevator. That was from a different game? Intresting

PeppaShrekky

I didn't know until today either, I had to look it up

Dylan

I guess that's technically true, since RE6 has 3 starting characters. They did a really good job on that cut of RE2 remake that Peppa linked, which is impressive considering Capcom really phoned it in on the remake regarding continuity. Looks like they disabled most of the HUD, which is nice. Probably used a gaming monitor with a crosshair feature to help with aiming.

Did we ever decide where RE0 is going to fit in? I know it's not the most popular in the franchise, but I think it still has some pretty descent lore.

EthanR

Something to add about this video is that it actually spliced in cutscenes from another game entirely to make the complete story. All the cutscenes of Wesker injecting himself and escaping after being impaled are taken from Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (2007). This was an on rails, light gun, arcade style shooter for the Wii that retold the events of the first game and added new content about Wesker and how he survived the Mansion incident.

EthanR

You should also take a look at Resident Evil 0, a prequel set just before the events of the first game. It was released simultaneously with the first remake on the Game Cube so it uses the same engine and graphics but with a gameplay twist and original story. It is not especially relevant in the lore of the series and is a bit of a black sheep but I still recommend it

PeppaShrekky

At least the different characters in re6 are all very separate playthroughs

Kieran Sweeney

Resident Evil reminding someone of Discworld wasn't on my bingo card :D.

Fsaitza

Hey Kai so a few curiosities about the game that could come up in later games. The idea of playing the same story with 2 separate characters went along also for RE2, so be prepared for that one, and for a few other side games, but after RE3 in the main games its mainly a protagonist and a sidekick sometimes. And as a famous end scene credits would say: Chris, Jill and Rebecca will return Also, the crates you saw now and then were storage crates for your items, since you have a limited inventory, and the only way to save your progress was through the typing machines that were now and then through the game, which will also be a recurring theme in next games. Oh and the plants are for healing, thats why they are highlighted so much. Generally in RE many characters tend to do comebacks, so the ones that leave a lasting impression on you, expect them to see them again in another game. Some as heroes, some as villains, some in the middle of it

Martin O'Dwyer

I was hoping Devil May Cry would win the poll but Resi is just so good that I can't complain an actual masterpiece series

DeathXWarfare

I really hope you continue onto the resident evil 2 remake and going on down the line to react to the rest of the games, its one of my favorite game series and an absolute treat to see you react to it!

LordKnoppers

I'd love to see Parasite Eve 1 from Square (Soft), before it was Square Enix. I think having a look at the original RE and the remake would be nice.
