The start of something great for the channel, our very first feature length movie aka long-form content. I'll be honest with you, this was a rollercoaster for my emotions and I'm so glad it's the first movie for the channel.

NOTE: This video is edited in a watch along style format, so you will need your own copy of the film/show to sync up with me! I've left the entire movie in (blurred) with a timecode so it should be easy enough to sync up.

*I originally planned on having the whole movie up with my head in the corner (like normal), however it was immediately blocked on YouTube for copyright reasons. I've spent the last few evenings trying to find a work around but sadly, I can't.  Most long-form content will have to be in a watch along format. This film is available on YouTube.

I will also upload the YouTube edit of this video when I have signed it off and happy for it to be released. That video will be 30-45 minutes long and edited like most reaction videos on YouTube.

First-time watching, first feature film on the channel, PLAY THE TAPE ALREADY!!

At this point the Spartans are like 14 yrs old!

Kai Zammit - Filmmaker Reacts

I know right, absolutely rocked me! I knew they were young in the books but when you see it here, it hits different right. Yikes!

Nagaraja

I felt the same way!

Really enjoyed watching this, although one thing I would say is that it was a little annoying that there wasn't any indication that I would need my own copy. I can certainly understand why you had to do this, but it was a little annoying having just signed up for Patreon and then having to purchase the film as well. Just a minor tweak to the youtube video saying that it's in a watch along format which I believe most people would be fine with. Also you're not alone I also cried at Chyler's (Anna Popplewell's character) death.

When I recorded the video, I had full intentions of uploading it all on here. I'd seen it already on YouTube, the full movie to watch so you could imagine my surprise when it said it was blocked, not copyrighted but full on blocked. I tried loads of different things but sadly, it's the way I had to go. I apologise I wasn't clearer in the messaging. Her death caught me off guard and what makes me laugh, is they're dappy teenagers. Since being a Dad, scenes like this where they've built them up just gets me every time. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video though. 🙏🏻

P.S. You also have access to The Halo 3 Believe campaign video and my full breakdown of Halo Landfall. Enjoy those as they are Patreon Exclusive.

Jonathan Palmer

I definitely will! I think the reason them being young didn't bother me is that they are cadets so it would make sense that they are inexperienced.

I don't look that deep into it. I've always struggled with teenagers being in films etc. it's clearly a me thing and not something I particularly enjoy but yeah, really enjoyed this. It has made me want to cover the first episode of season 2 (Halo show) just to see what's happening with it now they've learnt from season 1. Could be me moaning and groaning a lot which people (viewers) may like.

This was a great excuse to rewatch this, and your commentary added a fun element! Looking forward to more watch alongs in the future.

Recording another watch along on Monday next week. We're going mainstream for this one. Thought it might be interesting for you guys to hear my thoughts about a Hollywood Blockbuster instead of just smaller titles or gaming cinematics. It's also a nice way to get you thinking about recommendations too. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it.

George McC

I think that's a great idea. The gaming element is fun, but I also enjoy learning about film/cinematography broadly. We're here to watch a filmmaker react, after all!
