Munchies FOREVER! Been waiting for this one... and what comes after!

Ken

Finally it’s infinity time!

Ken

Infinity war here we go¡

Digitalversager

The only thing I always find a bit weird about Wakanda is that it's the most advanced civilization in the world, yet the royal heir is decided by a fight to the death. That was an awesome reaction, ladies, as always!💜 Next week, it's finally Infinity War's turn for a reaction, I can hardly wait.🙂

Steven

Hello Munchies. This is one of my favorite MCU movies. All the characters who oppose each other are right, or at least relatable, in their own ways. I really loved KILLMONGER as a character and Michael B. Jordan plays him with an anger and hostility that's super fun to watch. The film is directed by Ryan Cogler. Cogler is maybe the next big director that will emerge. He teamed up with Michael B. Jordan again to make the CREED films, but you will need to watch the ROCKY films before you watch those films. Cogler's latest film SINNERS also stars Michael B. Jordan and is VERY successful. Though it's a horror movie, it's so much more than that and has a lot to say. Martin Freeman plays Ross, but you might have recognized him as Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit. Andy Serkis who played KLAUE was also in Lord of the Rings but you might not have recognized him because he played Gollum.

Welcome to your first Ryan Coogler film. In the future, you should check out the rest of his filmography: Fruitvale Station, Creed (tho I'd recommend watching the Rocky films first since this is a direct spinoff), Wakanda Forever and Sinners.

Forgot it was MCU Sunday. Just got off work. Look forward to watching this later tonight 🥲

Helllllll yeahhhhhhhh babyyyyy

LOVE Black Panther!! Killmonger is the second best villian in the MCU... Thanos is coming!

Pinitchio

It's part of their Culture and Tradition. That's why they do it. They CHOOSE to do it. Not everybody (or race) has the same belief system.

Oliver

I'm glad that I always thought these marvel movies looked dumb, so I never bothered watching them. Now I get to experience them all for the first time and its better than expected. I didn't realize everything was connected.

Pinitchio

Another great reaction, you two. 🫡🫡🫡 In the comics Klaw' (that is his name) didn't look human and was even more powerful. He still lives in the comics and M'Baku is one of Black Panther's greatest enemies, but, in this film he's an ally.

Stefan Williams

you guys forget a lot of details but its okay...

Ryan Alexander

Just because you've been doing something stupid for a long time that's not a good reason to keep doing it. Not only do they decide their leader with a mortal kombat tournament, but they appear to have an absolute monarchy, also known as a dictatorship. Once Killmonger takes the throne there appears to be no checks on his power. Nobody within their government makes any attempt to stop his plan to ship weapons around the globe to start his worldwide race war. Vibrainium may give them advanced tech, but they're still way behind in other areas

Pinitchio

Because they don't share your values (or beliefs), they're 'way behind'? If they had an 'absolute' monarchy (dictatorship??), there would be NO ritual fight where other tribes (objectors) could choose a fighter to TAKE the throne from the chosen King. It's a different system of Government, it's not a 'Western' system of Goverment. And Kilmonger's plan was crazy. He wanted 'oppressed' peoples to overthrow their governments, using Vibranium weapons. There's no mention of him wanting a "race war". It's a DIFFERENT culture (not a 'Western' one). And they CHOOSE to follow their King Loyally (even if he's wrong/crazy). Ultimately, his plan NEVER happened. Whose to say that they wouldn't have overthrown Kilmonger, as they saw the world go into chaos?

Awesome reaction, you guys should check out succession or better call saul or breaking bad - great shows. would be really cool if you had a subscriber tier just for shows like that (or a tier to vote on that stuff.) You guys are awesome.

Angrytoybox

Hi ladies now it’s time to remember everything you learned. Bring the tissues, and at the end you will have questions. So don’t be surprised if you are confused a bit.

Angrytoybox

Nope not even the first 10 minutes

Ryan Alexander

The fighting determines who becomes the absolute ruler, but it doesn't diminish the power the winner gets. Also giving that sort of authority to someone based solely on their talent for violence is a terrible vetting process. My values and beliefs have nothing to do with it, some things are just objectively better then others. Democratic systems are better then dictatorships, capitalism is better then communism, and American football is better then that boring game the redt if the world calls football. Also you clearly didn't listen to Killmonger very closely. He is going to start the world over, flipping who is on top as he put it. And like a modern SJW. He sees oppressor and oppressed solely along racial lines. He's not some misunderstood tragic figure, he's black Hitler

Nathanial House

WAKANDA FOREVER! Rest in power, King T’challa! Chadwick Boseman was a great actor and an even better man!

Henry N.

Agreed. And throwing around "because they don't share your values", etc. isn't really saying anything meaningful. There are plenty of cultures throughout history that we (fortunately) don't share values with anymore. There isn't a culture in any historical record, outside of myth, that decided leadership this way. And for good reason.

Igor

and now, the stage is set....

Manospondylus

The funniest Marvel movie. Unintentionally.

Stephen Paynter

Yes, isn't it great. It is a good attempt to resist the pervasive negative racial sterotypes.

Stephen Paynter

Dear MovieMunchies, I love your reactions to all sorts of things, but especially the MCU. ... The MCU however will soon (after Avengers: Endgame) get complicated, with TV shows as well as movies being part of the story that the "MCU" is telling, and it is all intertwined. I recommend that you set yourself to watch all the MCU TV shows and MCU movies in release order, so that you met characters and plot-points in the right order. Many reactors bundle up two or three TV show episodes to make a single "movie-like" reaction, and so that the TV shows do not drag on for too long. It also gets complicated with Marvel movies and Marvel TV-shows not part of Disney-MCU also being incorporated to some extent into the MCU. Many of these can be ignored, but it would be best if specific such movies are reacted to before the cross over into later MCU movies. If you are interested, I could post as a comment on your Patreon page a detailed guide to this, but only if you would like that. Keep up the great work ... and really glad your channel has been saved from the troubles it had recently.

I couldn't get through Black Panther 2....

Opti_Frog

When you're used to privilege, equality feels like oppression.

Chrono Gamer

Black Panter is a top-tier MCU movie. It might be the overall best, to be honest. Also check out the Rocky and then Creed movies.

Chrono Gamer

Great actor. Great character.

Kris Homeniuk

Funny cross over fact, Andy Serkis and martin Freeman were called the Tolkien White guys for this film. (Play on words the both starred in the Hobbit,)

Lamar

That take made no sense lol.

Da'Von Rasta

2 Late but Chadwick Boseman who played T'Challa died of cancer. After the movie came out Chadwick appeared in public a few months later. He was very skinny and a lot of people made fun of him because of it. The people thought he was just skinny and weak to act another part in a movie. People were very cruel about his weight though. A couple of months later he died of cancer. Chadwick never told anyone he was dying of cancer even as he played Black Panther. In this movie Chadwick had cancer but no one knew it. Everyone realized how cruel they were and felt very sad for it.

Tron

Killmonger pretty good in Sinners. I know you already did the creed movies
