2026-09-07 21:00 Despite the CGI being a little dated, I love this movie. Hugh is great, and Kate is amazing. Love the friar (I always forget his name). He’s hilarious. Just a fun movie. The Munchies should love this one!

Ty

Coo almost forgot about this one, cool to see you and Katie reacted this time. Also can't wait for hallow-munchies!

Nathanial House

Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale were fantastic in this! I'm loving the vampire rabbit-hole you're going down, even though this has been on the channel before. Still a good movie!

Kawliga48

David Wenham is his name. He also played Faramir in Lord of The Rings.

Wayne

Kate Beckinsale was the actress who played Anna, she is in another great vampire movie "Underworld" (2003), I think you'd love the costumes/design of the movie - very "Fashion" as Chi likes to say. Enjoyed this reaction a lot, your reactions always make good movies great though.

Victor Herrera

All I see on the friar is Faramir lol 😆

Jeffrey Roberts

While this movie is entertaining, there were only 3 redeeming qualities of this film: Kate Beckinsdale and her outfit, the vampire waltz scene, and watcing with Katie and Chi! Great to see you again, Katie!

Digitalversager

The CGI is a bit dated by today's standards, but the movie is still fun to watch and I really like Hugh Jackman. The plan was actually to make a series out of Van Helsing. That's why the ending happened the way it did, so that Van Helsing and his sidekick could go on a new mission. Unfortunately the studio didn't moved on with the plan. I think even though the first movie isn't perfect it could have been something great. The first monster was a fantasy character from the classic novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jakyll and Mr. Hyde. The short version is that Dr. Jakyll becomes Mr. Hyde, an evil alter ego, with the help of a potion he developed. Of course the character from the novel has little to do with the Mr. Hyde in this movie. The character in this movie is really more reminiscent of an evil Hulk. You two should really watch more fantasy movies like this; it was so fun watching the movie with the two of you. A movie with a similar theme is The League of Extraordinary Gentleman (2003). The movie came out at the same time as Van Helsing, although it's probably not well known these days. Maybe the movie would be a good candidate for a reaction.😉 As always, that was an awesome reaction, ladies.💜

Mike G

You should watch the show succession and maybe also breaking bad or better call saul (c'mon friends, here, let's make it happen?)

aaarskog

Its a bit annoying that you prioritize new reactions on movies that you have already reacted to before. I can understand it when it comes to real classics but this is one is definitly not in that category. Its so many better things to watch.

Thalanoth

"Masterpiece" Chi? I saw this when I was a teenager when it came out... I figured, eh, it's alright. 21 years later; yep, still just... meh haha

David Collins

That wasn't Chi and Katie. And it's not like Van Helsing is a bad movie or something.

aaarskog

Its definitly not as good as most of the movies they have reacted on, this is a pretty average movie at best. And I am definitly NOT going to continue to pay for this membership with new girls reacting on the same movies that they have charged me for before.

Océane

Wow almost forgot this movie! If you liked Anna you should see her in the vampiric saga underworld

Noal McInnis

Watching Chi simp over Velkan was actually adorable. I love how she simply refuses to accept it when something bad happens, and she threatens Van Helsing if he kills him. So cute.

Jef Etters

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul would be incredible. I would up my patreon contribution just to support those.

Jef Etters

How do the girls choose what movie to react to? Other channels have Patreon polls and member suggestions. Would they ever consider that?

SM

It is comfortably in the bottom 3 of all the movies they've reacted to.

Grumpy Monk

I remember watching this movie as a kid. There's another movie called "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" that is similar in style. It's like a comic book depiction of old folk stories with many interesting characters.

Grumpy Monk

The movie "Sherlock Holmes" from 2009 would also be a good one to watch. It is set in a similar time period and is based on famous books.

Mark W

The Lost Boys 1987 vampire film was INCREDIBLE (please watch)

Henry N.

I watched this as a child and the jump scares really pissed me off lol. It seemed incredible to me then and very mediocre now. Great reaction, though. I certainly don't agree with Chi's characterization of the film as a masterpiece haha, but everyone has their own taste!

CrashTestWalrus

Seems to be based on how many likes a suggestion in the comments would get. Also, it looks like they are on a vampire marathon and I expect to see Blade and Underworld reactions in the next 2-3 weeks

fan

Please watch “Renfield” starring Nicholas Cage. It’s also about Dracula but it’s kind of a light comedy. It’s a fun film.

fan

Quality tv shows definitely would be huge hits. I’ve thought about going to YouTube only, but only reason I haven’t yet is because of their game of thrones reactions. It’s fun watching their reactions over time for prolonged character development in the show. Seeing their reactions to the character development in breaking bad and better call Saul would be amazing

Mr. Writhms

They did Blade already, last year.

Mr. Writhms

I think they are doing fine without polls. No fights. No people whining over which movie is winning in a poll and why. I like this way. I say, let the ladies choose the movies themselves. However they are choosing the movies, they have been doing a good job, with plenty of variety.

Jef Etters

I agree somewhat. But not about variety. Sure they do comedy and drama but I’ve just noticed that they get stuck on a certain star (Clint Eastwood, Jim Carrey) or genre (war movies, gangster movies) and stay on it for a long time all at once. So, if you don’t happen to like the person or genre, then there is a large amount of time you have to wait to get on to something else. I understand doing this around holidays. Everyone does, and the month is short enough. So that’s one thing. For example I hate horror movies, so I know ahead of time that’s just how October will be. That’s ok. But it’s a real bummer when they dig deep into someone or some genre you don’t like. (I hate Mel Gibson for example, because he’s anti-semitic.) Thank God I like Jim Carrey, that would have been a really long spell. I understand that they rotate comedy, drama, etc. but say for example you don’t happen to like Game of Thrones (I don’t), then you already have to miss those, and of course a tv series takes a long time, but that’s ok, it is what it is, and add on that they then randomly land on an actor you don’t like at the same time and do another long deep dive all at once. It’s a lot to miss. Maybe spread them out instead of focusing on one actor or genre all at once. Most other channels do polls to encourage engagement and participation and strengthen the community. It avoids anyone seeing long stretches of things they don’t like. And it makes members feel like they are part of the fun! And other channels put up posts about what movies and episodes are coming next. On this channel it’s a surprise and it can be fun or a disappointment. If we knew ahead of time, it would be nice. Now, I’m not complaining. This is my favorite reaction channel of all the ones I pay for. I just think this suggestion might be an improvement. I know not everyone likes everything, and that’s ok. They can’t please everyone. I love Chi, I LOVE Hella and I really like Tien and Katie! I love watching movies with them…I look forward to it all week! I just hate when they fixate on one actor for a long time.

SM

Still crazy the only movie with Nic Cage they've done is 'Kick-Ass'. Most reaction channels eventually get to the run of 'The Rock', 'Con Air', and 'Face/Off' but even beyond those he has another 15 or so that would be good to react to.

Imperial Mort

The sequel "Van Wilder" is better

King Bob

i think you are looking at it with rose-tinted glasses. There were parts of this movie that were cringe and bad. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a low approval rating of 24% based on 225 reviews, with the consensus stating: "A hollow creature feature that suffers from CGI overload" Common critiques focused on the film's excessive use of special effects, lack of coherent storytelling, and underdeveloped characters. Critics noted that characters like Anna Valerious lacked depth and clear motivations, serving more as plot devices than fully realised individuals. This contributed to the film's mixed reception, as audiences found it challenging to connect with the characters' journeys. Developing well-rounded characters with clear motivations, flaws, and growth can enhance a story's emotional resonance and overall effectiveness. The movie was panned by the critics and audience, although it was a commercial success. Metacritic reports a user score of 6.3 out of 10, suggesting that many found the film enjoyable despite its flaws .

Proto Type

I think it's a MUST see for American Culture

Proto Type

It's definitely an Iconic Movie \m/

Proto Type

I'm glad to hear it ~ When you go, I hope you take all your negative energy with you m8. I can't imagine feeling so entitled that you can spoil other people experience and the general community vibe just because you don't always get what you what....... Clearly, this was not a good fit for you

Victor Herrera

2 chefs kiss in one movie...gotta love that. Also katie yelling "fight fight fight" gave me the same vibe as Hella yelling "sister fight PULL HAIRS!" Lmao 🤣

Duncan

That movie is actually a lot of fun. Robert Downey Jr. is very good!

Duncan

Ravenous (1999) is a bit of a hidden gem, but also highly recommended!

Piranther

There really are vampire bats in the Americas, and they really do suck blood

Mark W

After seeing the trailer just now, I believe you need to put your request at the top so they can see it cuz it looks good. 👍

Duncan

Ha! If I were you, I’d just go for the full movie on your own. I reckon ‘Ravenous’ is way back in the queue for the Munchies! 🙂

Johnny Sondergard

"Underworld" is an awesome movie with Vampires and werewolfs. Thx for your awesome reactions 👍😊😊

Digitalversager

Of course, I see the movie's flaws, but I still like it. This kind of movie is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me.😅 And as for sites like Rotten Tomatoes, I don't pay much attention to these sits; I try to form my own opinion. But I also understand your point.

Manospondylus

Yeah. Kate Beckinsale in tight leather.🥲🫠

Manospondylus

I do think the design of the werewolves in Underworld are a bit off. Too cat like. Underworld 2 has a much better looking werewolf in it. Not gonna give spoilers but you know the one.

Tron

You guys should watch The Greatest Showman. It stars Hough Jackman, Zac Efron & Zendaya

Kris Homeniuk

Its the Monster mash, there really isnt any other live action movie done this well with the big name monsters. Honorable mentions to hotel transylvania, monster squad, and abbot and costello meet the monster.

Adelore Spokes

Underworld and the rest of the X-Men movies!!!
