Funny story about Lazer tag. My dad took me when I was a teenager and he was late 60's to early 70's (not sure which) and at the end of the match they announced the highest score(from both teams). It was my dad. Lmao Late 60's dude dominating a bunch of teenagers. Lol

An interesting take by verhoeven. Almost feels like it is not a straight parody of facism but an attempt at showing an in universe take on it. Then i guess it shows how easy it can be for people to get behind the main cast. Love cast choices and references made in the film lots of layers to it and seeing doogie howser in a SS officer uniform still boogles the mind.

Hella recognizing Hank immediately makes me happy. Hank MVP of Breaking Bad

Dave P

Yeah, he made it slick and seductive so that it's easy to root for them. Hardly anyone gets the satirical layer first time through and that was fine with Verhoeven. That's how propaganda works, eventually it's just the media you consume.

EccentricGamerCL

Hella, Katie, and Yuna are doing their part!

Dajefe70

For some reason, I thought you guys reacted to this already. One of my favorites! Great reaction, guys! Oh Hela did watch it before lol. I enjoy her rewatching while the others first time.

CrashTestWalrus

Starship Troopers is an easy to tolerate background noise to watch pretty Katie on, that's for sure

The Munchies are reacting to the solid foundation that we know of today as "Managed Democracy!"

Fff

He accidentally portrayed a society that was appealing in many ways.

Great movie and a great reaction thank you! - really enjoyed this one.

Hello Munchies !! Wow ,Yuna !! That's a surprises !! verry happy to see you! but in this movie ?! very surprising. I know she will hide her eyes many times with this one. eager to hear what you think! I lost my bet thinking Ivy will be here 😅. but i was still right for Katie and hella ! 🤣 Let's go !! I don't know what other may already have said to you in your first reaction. so i'll go with what I know and think that I couldn't share back then. First death and we can already see katie being shocked but almost laughing, Hella was like "here we go again" but still surprised and yuna covering her eyes ! well this will be very funny to watch ! 😉😅 "even the sport is violent in this movie" well yes, but the sport is already like that irl in first place😅. so can't blame the movie for once ! "Sir, yes, sir!" 😅 Hi Private Hella !! 🤣 "tomato soup !" 🤣🤣 glad I'm not the only thinking of that. "where are you going !?" with the ship being open ? 🤣🤣 as always Hella is our laugh bringer !! Btw, thanks munchies, I feel less lonely. I'm not the only one imagining things when seeing the brain's part... I have the same question as you : "Who get the idea of that things !?"🤣 If you didn't recognize him, Zim the private who captured the brain was the sergeant intructor who trained Rica and Diz at the camp ! he did say he want to go to war, but the chief wouldn't accept unless he unpromoted himself to private. The movie is based on a book. the book is way more serious and critical than the movie. here it seems almost parodic (even more with the "teenager's drama" in high school and through the movie) The first part in the school always make me feel like "what it is doing here in the end?" except for making us know a little the character it is so out of the main point. it feel strange for me. I feel like looking "American pie" before seeing "saving private ryan in space". 😅 Btw,, I'm with you Yuna, except for the "look at boobies and ass !!" (in other words, fan-service) I don't see the point of having both males and females showering together in the movie... Because i can't see a future where this is possible without having "sexual harrasment" case all over the place!😅 For short, the movie (and the book) is showing what a full militaristic and authoritarian-dictatorship may look like . Where only someone who did go to the army can have full rights (even to make babies!) and have full accesibility to politics. (with a big sillines with all the "do you want to know more" and almost parodic lines they can throw dring the movie). I wonder if they didn't almost do the opposite of the book and glorify them a little too much by making them the heroes of the movie. when you see the arachnids (the "bugs") and the humans fightings in this movie, there's only one question you should ask yourself (in a metaphorical way): what's the difference between the 2 of them ? answer: not much, except we are better looking. 🤣 Even Hella said about humans "they look like ants!" and spoke about it at the outro. "it show how war is lived by soldiers." Both of them are throwing their soldiers in the meatgrinders like mindless drones. The only reasons we don't see humans as mindles drones (like the bugs) is because we are following humans in the lowest level of comandement possible (I mean we are following them on the battlefield) . If we had followed a general who never put a foot on the fields and only look at reports and maps, the soldiers will only be numbers that we throw at the ennemies until victory (just like the bugs are swarming the humans). If the movie followed Carl instead of Rico and Diz, we whould had more this impresion of "humans-number". (the only things remebering us of that are the numbers they show post-battles and the quotes "dying, this is what mobile infantry does best" and Carl explanation after the funerals about taking decisions for the species. Plus the first battles, Katie understand right away how unprepared they were. they don't even try to have a strategy or tactics at all. they really throw them in battles with no preparartion at all! Making them loose way too many soldier for nothing. Even WW1's generals who were easy to throw soldier to their death weren't that stupid and arrogant. (the humans manage to do something in this movie only when they're prepared, coordinate and well commended by someone like Razsczak or Rico) Both the book and the movie are showing the deshumanizing aspect of war. Not with peoples becoming monster like in some movies like "deer hunters" or "full metal jacket" (funny enough, all vietnam's war when you thing about it), but showing, in war, human's life doens't matter at all. I'll say it again: in war, Humans are meat and numbers to throw in battles. ( a very WW1 and WW2 view of the soldier at some point) To quote another movie "war will make corpses of us all." But Let's be honest, this isn't the only Sy-Fy setting with this mentality. Helldivers which is a driect parody of this movie. Warhammer 40k and his Imperial guards and his quote "for every soldier who dies, 10 others will take his places !" ( a noble sentiment as long as you aren't the one they're replacing) and it's an army you count soldiers by Billions for one regiments. 🤣 Syfy is often used to how society could become. here this is what war is bringing. Mu only true question in that movie: How many bullet do they have by charger in their guns !? they never get out of amnunition for all the movie and barely reload !!! 🤣🤣 A very good time! A lot of funny moment with you. althoug poor Yuna who was about to throw up! 😅 and a very fun time. thanks for that. happy to see Yuna again. we miised you those last weeks. Have a good day, munchies !!

Gaëtarrow

they did with Hella and Chi. so Yuna and Katie are doing their own with Hella coming along.

Dajefe70

Yeah, that's right. It's kinda interesting seeing Hela enjoy 2nd rewatches. In a way, she is "watching" Katie and Juno's first time reaction like we watch Movie Munchie reactions.

Beverly Hills 90210 in space, complete with bugs and tons of violence. What I like most about the movie is that the satire isn't too heavy-handed. Yes, the movie is a satire against fascism and how easily people can be manipulated by well-packaged, framed information. But you can also easily enjoy it as a fun, brutal sci-fi action flick. It’s great that the movie works on both levels. The older I get, though, the more the love triangle between Rico, Carmen, and Dizzy gets on my nerves. I keep thinking, "Rico, what is wrong with you? Dizzy is a catch, is it really so hard to see". Now all you need is to watch Total Recall (1990) to complete the, let's say, Verhoeven Hollywood sci-fi experience.😅 I highly recommend the movie for a reaction. As always, that was a great reaction, ladies.💜 WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW MORE?

Jeremy McCabe

Man i still love watching this movie so much haha the drop ship theme of the first battle still gets me pumped.

Gam

Can ya'll react to: 'Pearl Harbor' 2001. The war is based on true events, but it also has side romance dramas, too.

One Filthy Pilot

Another great reaction to another great pic. This movie is partly to blame for me joining the Air Force in 1999. That, and I joined because of a girl.

👩‍🦰 Dizzy > Carmen 🐸🤳

And we're watching her, watching them, watch the movie. This time line could be a lot worse I guess ~ 🤷‍♂️😅

Saints_Madness

Excellent reaction to this film. I remember seeing this in theaters. I was 11 at the time so it was a great film. Hella did her best to not spoil it but dropped the ball a few times. This reaction was very very good. Look forward to some more amazing uploads

Thomas Simmons

I'm team bug. I thought the bugs were just defending their solar system from human invasion & colonization.

chris brown

Great reaction as always. Hope you three react to Total Recall (1990)

animalsoul

because there are 6 different person wo react ?... and people want to see more reactions of some movies ?... people watch such channel for seeing persons react and not seeing the movie. i guess..

be frank

Hi ladies. Enjoyed your reaction. Another interesting Sci-Fi genre is the Riddick series of three movies starting with "Pitch Black" from 2000.

Tinker Greg

The book is much, much better. I was an extra in this movie, and was appalled when I saw it. They took the name from the book, and very little else. They did Jonny Rico a big disservice by casting him as a tall, Nordic, athletic, heroic looking guy. He was supposed to be an average, short, Pilipino. So much was wrong...

Hella at 43:08 ........HANK ! Hella again at 1:13:55 ; Rasczaks roughnecks ! Hella "Rarababa" She kills me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 A great reaction from the always beautiful Munchies ❤️💚💙🌹
