Wow. Interstellar and The Matrix. Two movies with concepts that can be difficult to understand but you've all done a wonderful job with the reactions. I would like to like to recommend another sci-fi for a future reaction, Arrival (2016). I loved this reaction and can't wait to see what you react to next.

2026-09-07 21:00 Also Memento if you like mystery thrillers. It's by a VERY famous director you know of.

Definitely one of my favorite movies! It's a movie you have to watch multiple times to really understand all the small details.

S_Vive

I had recommended Arrival, though it could be very difficult for them to follow... as it seems to be for most people I've encouraged to watch it.

S_Vive

I always forget about that film... it's definitely good, but also tough to watch (at least for me).

S_Vive

Yes, the series is surprisingly meaty in symbolism, and onion-esqe in layered meaning.

Nemo

I hope all three of you will consider watching Lord of the Rings (Extended editions) at some point. The definition of masterpiece! :)

Michael Goldberg

To FULLY get everything from this movie, you need to watch more than once. Again, GREAT REACTION!!!!

Ian Brett Cooper

I'd like to ask you two to please do a reaction video for the movie "Casualties of War". It is based on the true events of the 1966 incident on Hill 192 during the Vietnam War. It is a great film by director Brian DePalma and starring Michael J. Fox (from "Back to the Future"). It is a disturbing film, but you have a perspective on that conflict that many people outside of Vietnam don't hear, so I would really like to hear what you have to say about this film.

Edward Olson

These would be incredibly boring to watch a reaction to. Unless you're just trying to get them to watch movies with nearly explict sexual situations.

Tinker Greg

Great reactions, as usual! Even Americans with English as our native language can find this movie confusing. The Matrix was easier to follow the second time I watched it. I am extremely impressed by the speed at which you understood things in another language; much better than I am with my second language--German--watching things like Band of Brothers. I have an American friend who lives in Vietnam, and I'm feeling motivated to learn Vietnamese to go visit him.

This film is inspired by the ‘brain-in-a-vat’ thought experiment which is an early 20th century variation of a philosophical conundrum put forth by Descartes but instead with a powerful demon giving an unsuspecting human false illusions. It could arguably go back to the Ancient Greeks and their allegory of the man having only seen shadows on cave walls and mistaking them for reality until someone showed him otherwise.

Ash_S

If I may put forth my list of desired films? Mystery of the Leaping Fish (1916) A silent film some +/- 25 minutes long. As a caveat, this film was made before we fully knew and accepted how dangerous some drugs were. Can be found on YouTube. Casablanca (1942) All About Eve (1950) Watership Down (1978, not the 2018 version.) Army of Darkness(1992) Cousin Bette (1998, not the 1971 tv miniseries.)

Ash_S

Sorry, Descarte’s thought experiment had a powerful demon manipulating what someone saw not the early 20th century one.

Awesome reaction - it's really interesting to see the things you pick up straight away, and the things that you don't quite get. This is a very mind-blowing movie, so don't feel like you're alone in struggling with it :) Was very clever that you guessed straight away that the agents were machines! The world of the movie is a bit like Terminator - in this future, the machines have enslaved all of humanity instead of trying to kill them all like in Terminator. Was also cool that you were both asking "is this real?" in the beginning - and as we see, no it isn't exactly real. The guy who meets Neo at the door in the beginning tells him to "get some R & R". It's used in western militaries mostly, to describe the soldiers getting a break. It usually is short for "Rest & Relaxation" - so they guy is just telling Neo that he need to go out and have some fun. There are sequels, but generally people consider this the best one. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!

Oscar Ortega

I love the reaction. Hope you guys do the rest of the trilogy.

The first one was inspired by the Wachowski Sisters as they realized what was wrong with the world for them. They realized the physical sex characteristics they were born with weren't right. That's what the Red Pill signified, transitioning into the gender they were supposed to have been all along. The character called "Switch" was supposed to have been male in the real world, and female in the Matrix. The studio wouldn't go for it, so they picked a sort of butch actress as a compromise.

SPOILER : an analogy is if you were to play a virtual reality video game , the matrix is being completely immersed inside the game . Neo being the ultimate hacker he thinks in programming language by the end of the movie. the following movies explain Zion and the outside threat more intricately.

I still remember the hype about The Matrix back then. The Matrix came out the same year as Star Wars Episode 1. There were lots of discussions about which movie was better. Even though I'm a huge Star Wars fan, The Matrix Just blew me away...what a brilliant movie.🔥 It's been a while since you Ladies reacted to the Matrix, but it would be great if you would react to the parts 2 and 3 too.🙂 As always, awesome reaction ladies!💜

Francisco

I really enjoyed your reaction. Another great movie with Keanu Reeves is "Point Break"(1991)

Jay Perry

It's time for you to do The Matrix Reloaded. Please?

BRT

Still an entertaining film. It's a good one to ruminate over and then rewatch to better understand.

BRT

Wow, those are some interesting and varied choices. I would definitely second All About Eve, Watership Down and Cousin Bette❤️

BRT

My introduction to this sort of false or limited illusory reality scenario was Stanislaw Lem's "The Futurological Conferrence"

BRT

Great example of opinion based solely on the experience of personal subjective reality.

Tom

Please watch the rest of the series. Would love to see a reaction on matrix 2 & 3!

lol I knew they'd struggle with the concept once Morpheus started explaining it. It's a lot to take in, and the rest of have had decades to catch every nuance of this film - but they certainly threw out some random guesses that I hadnt heard before: - Assumed Morpheus created the matrix - Guessed that Morpheus was talking about himself during his "there was once a man that could bend the rules" - Thought Morpheus was an Agent when he first loaded the construct program - Said Morpheus is half-machine..? The "do you think that's air you're breathing" line really threw them. And the "there is no spoon" moment is a good test to see if someone is understanding what is going on - Chi did not pass lol.

BluePanda

I'm surprised 2 years later they didn't watch the 2 sequels.

1:34:53 "They try to redesign him!" referring to Morpheus. LOL No, they had to redesign the entire Matrix - not Morpheus. 1:35:13 "They send the dinosaur here??" 😂 1:36:52 "They're using Morpheus to create their own Matrix" - nope, they're trying to get access codes to the city of Zion from Morpheus so they can destroy it. 1:37:54 "So Morpheus is The One?" nope! 1:43:23 "Neo's pretending to be an agent" nope, it's just an office building with regular people - that happens to have a few agents in it holding Morpheus. And yes, the people Neo is shooting are human beings, not agents. 1:48:30 They didn't realize that this was one of the most iconic movie moments of this decade, and required a lot of technological advancement to pull off. This is a common thing for reactors watching older movies, once you've seen something like Avengers Endgame where every frame is CG, you can't really fathom the feeling of seeing something like bullet-time for the first time. 2:10:12 "He's talking to himself?" No, he's talking to the agents/machines. 2:10:56 for moviegoers in 1999, this moment along with the music, was one of the most badass moments in movie history. They seem a bit puzzled by it. 😂

You guys are great!
