Midnights is cool cause it’s a collection of songs and thoughts that kept her up at night over the years. We definitely feel like “Midnight Rain” is about Taylor Laurent for a few reasons but the “making my own name” was a big indicator because if they ended up together they would have the same name. Also the winter lines reference “Back to December” (Christmas time) and jumping off things in the ocean referencing the cliff jumping in Twilight!

Since Midnights is a “concept” album, I think listening to it all the way through is the way to go. And 3 am tracks separately (a bit of a different feel as Aaron Desner who did folklore etc) produced most of those rather then Jack.

I also like to think that he and girl-Tay saying Midnight Rain is their other favorite Taylor song is a nice nod to that. Like they’re doing a “we are not saying it’s about boy-Tay but we are also not NOT saying it’s about boy-Tay.” ;)

i love watching your reactions, but i think y'all are really doing yourselves a disservice by not listening to the album (Midnights) in it's entirety. you're missing out on the bigger picture when you listen to random songs on random days. albums are albums for a reason. the songs are in a specific order for a reason. you should absolutely revisit the albums you haven't heard in full and listen to them from start to finish.

My favorite album depends on my mood. Lover, 1989, Folklore, and Reputation are really hard for me to put it any order. They’re all tied for first lol and then Midnights and Red are tied for second. I’m looking forward to y’all doing more whole album reactions! Can’t wait for The Man MV.
