geto didn’t have the scars in the movie tho.if you guys remember, gojo finished him after the fight against yuta(movie). but somehow he is currently alive in the present day. but don’t worry, yours question will be answered in 4 episodes.

just a note, in the movie Geto doesn't has the scar on his forehead! It is visible only in Season 1

If you watch the ending of Season 1 you see that it ends with the 3 of them (Itadori, Nobara and Megumi) and Megumi saying that Gojo sensei called them, so they're headed there Now, in this episode, Gojo wakes up from the dream and Megumi says "don't call us if you're gonna sleep". This implies the connection between the endings, as if it the season 1 ending and this scene of Gojo waking up happens one after another. Why this is relevant is because Gojo smiled remembering the moment he said those words to Megumi (be strong enough to keep up with me) and then sees him now, being capable of soloing a Special Grade Curse (the finger bearer) and doing Domain Expansion (incomplete), which happens in episode 22. In episode 23 Itadori and Nobara themselves also defeat the Special Grade Curses. So, in reality, I think Gojo is smiling because he is achieving what he wanted. He wanted to train more strong people to be able to help others, because he himself being the strongest didnt save his best friend...
