They are watching it on crunchy roll which only has it in sub. They would have to go a pirated website to watch it in English dub ( which I doubt they would do that). I’m always for them watching it in English because they always understand things better but they insist on watching it in sub because they like it better. But Naruto is probably is one of the only anime’s where people like the dub better than sub.
