tbh I don’t really get why it was surprising that the girl’s mother is a ghoul. The girl herself is a ghoul, right? So obviously, both of her parents must be ghouls too. Ghouls are essentially a different species. They’re not human. They don’t interbreed with humans — we were told earlier that such a child wouldn’t survive. Kaneki is the only exception: a half-human, half-ghoul created artificially. He’s a unique case. If we set Kaneki aside, the rules are clear: – You’re either born a ghoul, or you’re not. – You can’t become one. – You can’t turn someone into one. – Ghouls are born from ghouls, humans from humans — just like a dog can't give birth to a cat. – Ghouls hunt humans, and humans hunt ghouls.

Every ghoul has a kagune — it’s not a superpower, it’s just part of their body. Think of it as their version of claws or fangs. Ghouls are predators, and the kagune is their main hunting tool — flexible, powerful, and deadly. It’s a predatory organ, not magic. Also, ghouls aren’t immortal. They age — remember the old man at the café? But they’re much more resilient than humans. Their regeneration depends entirely on food — the more they eat, the faster they heal.
