Looking at it now, I think it’s clear that the Major didn’t love Violet in a romantic way. He cared for her deeply. Over time, he grew attached to her, and she became something more like a daughter to him. His love was a complex blend of compassion, responsibility, and emotional connection. And we shouldn't forget the setting. They were in the middle of a war. That changes everything
