I appreciate you, Shawn, for having Senator Sheehy on for an interview. America needs strong individuals like him representing us at the capitol.

Joshua

The Santa Ynez Reservoir was totally empty due to “maintenance” that never happened. That’s what would have fed water to Pacific Palisades.

Coyyote

Excellent. Our Colorado mountain ranch has survived 5 major wildfires around us that got as close as 3/4 mi. What saved us was either a shift in direction of winds or air attack. We have a reservoir 1 mi from us and a single Sky Crane making rapid drop evolutions saved us once A lightening strike started a fire on our mountain top. Using ATVs we shuttled a hand crew up there within an hour. As the were getting busy the incident commander got a radio call from. C130 who was waved off of a fire close by. Pilot asked if he wanted the load which was affirmative. One recon swoop, turn around and “get your heads down”. Result fire only burned 3 acres and we got covered by red retardant! Man was that impressive as he made the run only a couple hundred feet above us Senator Sheehy please full speed ahead on the wildfire project

Grant

Great interview! He should be one of our next presidents! I vote for him all day and volunteer for anything he asked!

Tony Rodriguez

Montana is one of the last great states in the country. Please protect it sir.

Sean Roberts

Just in a few days Senator Sheehy has made me more comfortable in my vote for him. I just hope he repairs the damage Tester's influence did to the Montana VA system. I have no access to any solid medical help for my Sarcoidosis and Montana VA does not allow MAYO clinic or any out of state medical care. By go I get an extra 5 bucks to drive across the state to the main VA facility that is no better than the one in my town other than it has a MRI machine.

M

I agree 100% with Sheehy about we need to take care of our people first. I have said this for years.

Joe Moore

Please help increase jobs in Montana. My family is from there and would love to live there myself.

Beverly

Looks like once again Shawn & team were prescient in their guests. Shawn interviewed Kash Patel & Pete Hegseth shortly before Trump selected them & today it’s Sen. Sheehy, brought to national attention this week in the confirmation hearings with his opening two gender “she-he”quip. 😆👍 SRS is hot!

Dave C

Shifty Shiff smh

Francine

Face diapers, haha

Sarah Wadas

Fascinating discussion. My parents were in the Forest Service and worked for a logging company back in the 80’s. They love to discuss their time fighting fires in Wyoming and Colorado back in the day. I also really appreciated the Senator’s discussion about supporting families whose loved ones are out there doing dangerous jobs in service of this country—specifically fighting wild fires, but also, there are so many jobs that could be included in this list! There are very few programs available to help non-military families when their loved ones are hurt or killed. My husband is a power lineman and is often involved in dangerous work while on the road and I have a lot of fears around what our future looks like if, God forbid, something bad were to happen to him on the job. Thank you for starting some very important discussions, Shawn!

Dan Kase

China is far too influential on the American youth.

Richard Lewis

Shawn, thanks for scoring this interview with Senator Sheehy. Having lived in and worked as a physician in Montana for over 5 years I am stoked to the MAX to have this breath of fresh political air come to this great state that I love so much. Congratulations to you both!

Hank

Great great interview with Senator Sheehy if we only had more people like him with common sense in our government, this country would be way better off 👏👏👏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

scott rose

I watched the confirmation hearing and heard the comment. Glad to see you have him on the show so quickly.

Victoria

I am so grateful to see our special operators, who are developed leaders step up and take part in Washington politics. We need you.

Joshua Ward

“No tax money to the taliban.” What about the funding through frozen assets? Let’s stop ALL FUNDING to the taliban!

Jamin T

Thank you Senator Sheehy, and Godspeed sir. Shawn keep up the great work and stay safe brother.

Sniper Bait

Sheehy - awesome job with Hegseth! Hey SHAWN - how about having Mark Wayne Mullin as a guest?!

Tamara

They arrested over 20 for arson so far

Tamara

He's right about insurance, I live near the fire and in the last year my insurance company left California and I had to find another but there are fewer. Some friends in multiple million $ homes can't get insured at all.

Quincy McLaughlin

This guy is so right about everything with fires. First of all my grandfather was an assistant fire chief in a rural town here in maine and he only got paid 400 bucks a year to risk his life an save people's homes and lives. They absolutely need more funding not to have it cut from them! Also I just currently lost everything I own to a fire November 17th an am still fighting displacement and there is nobody there to help us from in the government if we didn't have the community around us that we did we would have been completely screwed but you bet your ass they are helping the illegals get setup nicely. This hits home an I feel for the people that just watched there lives burn away it's not a good feeling an the government needs to be here to help AMERICANS before others. Thank you shawn for bringing light to all these issues!!

Robert Diggins

Great interview! Thanks! 🙏 Note: at 1:13:15, he said 'It's like 9/11, when the said 'Who the hell knew this was coming?'" Well, multiple people from the FBI gave testimony, behind closed doors, about reporting foreknowledge, but none of that made it into the Commission Report. Also, one of them told the press that Condoleezza Rice's public testimony wasn't true, when she said, " We had no idea they'd use planes as weapons. " They absolutely heard those specific warnings about OBL using planes to attack major cities and FBI WB Sibel Edmonds told the press. Condoleezza was forced to edit her testimony - she changed "We" to "I" 🙄 I know that's not the focus of the interview, but we can't let this narrative continue in the zeitgeist. 💡

Cooper43

Thank you for your time Tim and thank God you won. Great Interview Shawn/Team. Important interview.

Erika Selene

Really appreciate Sen. Sheehy stepping up and into the arena. Great interview with great information. I hope that he accomplishes a lot for Montana that also benefits every state!

Lydia

Mass relocation and segregation of our people into "affordable" housing. Displacement by design. Further control over shelter, land, water, and food. Basic resources continue to be under attack from our broken system 💔. Hoping we can ALL stand up as citizens to change things swiftly. 🙏

Chris

Shawn, Gavin Newsom had to cut funding to the fire departments. How else is he going to afford our $89-128 billion dollar high speed rail? SMH. California loves wasting money

Gary W

Tim broke it down in a way I have never heard before. I knew about the stupidity around all the environmental craziness. But how to set up the government to make real people accountable and set up a firefighting service I have never heard before. But it is brilliant!

Ken W

Great break down and a lot of great points! I would love to fly those tankers. I freakin love seaplanes! I’m too old for firefighting tankers, not enough experience too, and just started to learn how to fly. Doing my first solo soon! For starters, They need to stop limiting volunteer fire departments especially here in California. They are in it for heart not $. So many people are willing to serve and train to protect their own communities. I think the NFPA should integrate a more robust REQUIRED aerial firefighting framework that mandates, feds, military, state, county, and city municipalities to have aircraft ready to spin up and fight fire with a goal of having aircraft ready attack fire within a very short amount of time. There are so many other places that have burned in California, Santa Rosa, Vacaville, Napa area, clear lake and more. Newsum, is responsible and needs to be held accountable. That sum has said the same crap before and it never got it done and never will. This is a classic example of the Swiss cheese model gone wrong to create this disaster over and over, and we the people need to correct it!

Dorene King

Grateful that the Trump Inauguration has been moved to the inside. Yes, to avoid people getting hypothermia and to protect President Trump's life. I'm feeling less worried than I was.

George

This guy is outanding & so is the interview ... thank you Shawn !

Renee Cassidy

Amazing interview! Thank you, Shawn & Sen. Sheehy!

Patrick Wright

I'M A BIG FAN......Most of us, WE THE PEOPLE, that actually care, don't have the time or money to do anything to help. I'm way too busy trying to pay these bills I can't afford to pay. YOU, the Shawn likes gold type folks, can do way more than I can. Go ahead and invest in SHAWN LIKES GOLD, and then do something that helps us poor folk.

Steven Russelle

We old guys have seen this many times before. Senator Sheehy is spot on, and whatever the budget needs to be for every single thing he mentioned, it bloody well better be allocated and have three persnickety forensic accountants with hire/fire authority and subpoena power overseeing its expenditures. This year's disasters are going to impart a great strain on the people of the US, and it is solely the fault of government. The government has got to be the funding source. By which I mean ,harsh budget cuts and regulatory and permit fee cuts and the whole wasteful, expensive government system must be slashed to the bone to free up the costs and hire useful servants. We are speaking here of the wellbeing of the United States of America.

Kurt

Yet another great show with a great guest. The two of you gave us the problem-analysis and it's consequences, but you also spent a good amount of time describing solutions. Nice work.

David Fent

Great interview and conversation, Shawn Ryan. I appreciate how you and Tim shed light on the problems and discuss solutions. Especially accountability. A side note, having lived in California for many years, I’m aware of the many challenges in one of the most beautiful states in the country. That said, I encourage caution with generalizations. For example, I didn’t know anyone who supported “defund the police.” It seemed to be pushed by a small group of anarchists and under-represented voices, but news channels exaggerated it into a statewide movement. This fire didn’t need to happen. Accountability is widespread, but following the money reveals budget cuts and special interest groups as major factors. I also question zoning and approvals for developing wild-lands without proper ERP’s and contingencies. And yes, why are we not taking the experience, knowledge and expertise gained from our military to address problems at home. WTF? Thank you Shawn and Tim for educating and bringing these issues to the forefront.

Amit Shamgar

Thank you for sharing my question with the listeners! Mr. Sheehy certainly gets it. You have to want to be a part of the solution! Two prongs ; local grassroots and most critical…positively influence, shape, educate our children, from kindergarten to a Sr. In college. It must be legislated that a teacher cannot bring their anti-America, woke, LGB-whatever to school. Period! You’re there to teach the curriculum, not create the next generation of socialists! Politics is a marathon, not a sprint, and I’ll be watching Mr. Sheehy as I can learn a lot from him. I have a lot of respect for people who are a part of the solution, the doers. I used to volunteer with a FD before relocating and he’s spot on. Fantastic interview, as always. May God bless and keep your family and you safe!

David Williamson

Mr Ryan I listen to all your shows and can hear the frustration in your voice sometimes especially when discussing accountability and the fact that no one is being held responsible for anything this MUST change! If I screw up at work I loose my job our government is the biggest abuser of the no accountability. They must be held accountable and made an example of for there lack of there gross mismanagement

Eyvonne

That was such a great interview with him. I didn't know a lot about him. I paid a little bit of attention during the campaign but he is freaking awesome like you. I did a lot of driving today and I had time to listen to it and it was just so good. Even though I used to run with a fire companay, on their ambulance. I knew a little bit but man that was very informative.

Beverly

Wonder if anyone remembers a Russian defector in the Cold War, spent his life in USA working to warn us that we had already lost the war and didn’t know it because our schools & colleges weren’t teaching the greatness of America?

filipows

Montana fire history. Man Gulch fire. Just north of Helena. 13 smoke jumpers died. The book young men and fire was written by Norman Maclean 1949. As a result University of Montana started the fire research center

SergeyM

Good and honest interview as always, thank you, Shawn

Craig S

Sen. Sheehy may be my new favorite politician ever! I flew fire patrol decades ago and the number 1 reason for fires then was man made-a lot of arson, careless camp fires and cigarettes thrown out the window-either accidentally or on purpose. Just bought his book. Looking forward to the read. Great guest selection Shawn!

JR

Excellent interview. We need to all support this senator and elect more like him. He gets it ! America for Americans 🇺🇸

Frizz

He’s spot on about the pay and fire season. Right now in LA, Oregon wildland and volunteer firefighters are being paid while they work, following a 24-on, 24-off schedule. Some strike teams have Portland chief officers in the attached to the strike team package. they are being paid portal-to-portal (from home to home), meaning they’re compensated for every hour they’re away. In some cases, these deployments can result in a Portland chief earning up to $60,000 in 14 days. Paid union firefighters follow a similar pay structure, though their earnings may not be as high. Meanwhile, wildland firefighters and volunteers are earning around $25–$35 an hour. The inconsistency in their pay structure highlights a significant disparity compared to unionized city fire departments. Oregon fire departments make HUGE money of these conflagrations. Wildlife is big business in Oregon and California.

Dale Rossman

Appointing a director of ground or forest fire management and an organization under him is one of the first things Trump should do. As Sheehy said there is no one. Maybe California would then begin to see some much needed changes

bryce anderson

Shawn I am a republican from Montana and Tim Sheehy is not the man he portrayed in this interview. To start off he shot his friend while hunting, He wants to sell off all of montanas public land to the highest bidder, and he blocked the building of a fishing access site that would have a boat ramp because it was a little to close to his house. Now you can say the last two things arnt that bad, but thats what makes montana special, the fact you have access to any water and an abundant amount of public land, which he is trying to end. Hes not originally from Montana and his entire stick is that of a complete liar/ politician.

Remi

Great interview! Montana sure is lucky to have Sheehy! Experienced and common sense! I’ve shared this video with all my California friends and relatives!

Mike G

Water utility distribution systems in general are designed to maintain pressure to the hydrants under max demand conditions. The “electric pumps “ are the well sites that again, are generally designed to have backup power at each well, so in the event of power failure, can continue to maintain pressure to the system. These are basic design requirements of water utilities for decades.

Mimi

Shawn you open my eyes on so many things. Thanks for another great interview. We need young blood with ideas in this government. Obviously what we have is not working for Americans. Trump may not be a young guy but he is smart and entertaining enough to bring them along for the ride. Your interviews are bringing a light to many things that need to be changed! Thanks for being a patriot who wants this Country to get back on track.

Jesse

Mind blowing at just how A-political California is (former resident, my self). While watching this interview; I couldn't help but to think of how California is run akin to George Orwell's Animal Farm. California, in my opinion, is at dawns early light for drastic changes coming after these fires and the lack of proper leadership. God Bless those wildland fire fighters!

Stephanie

It is now Feb 12. Does’t seem as if much is going on with fire cleanup but Olympics hung ho. Typical Newsom

John Hicks

Rewatching this episode on October 27, 2025 ! How can all this common sense be ignored ? Yet here we are ,during government shutdown . Sad to say , times they are not changing, but literally getting worse !
