What does it mean to take extreme ownership of your life?In this powerful podcast episode, Leif Babin shares his journey from his early life and Naval Academy days to becoming a Navy SEAL and leading Task Unit Bruiser during critical missions in Ramadi. He reflects on the leadership principles forged during his time in combat, the importance of faith and resilience, and the sacrifices made by his team. Yes!! Been waiting for this one for a long time. Shawn I hope to see Jocko too.... That would be epic! Both Leif & Jocko are such an encouragement for me in all aspects of life.

Bryce

No complaints from this guy but, we have been getting extra episodes like crazy lately!!! Love it. Bout to learn some leadership lessons right now. Thank you SRS team!!!!!

John Macri

Thank you Shawn. Learn something from all of these interviews. These videos should be shown in high schools. I sure wish I had these to watch in high school. Maybe set up a log in for high school kids interested. It could really impact their life when they need it most. Good way to give back which I know you like to do. Effecting our nations youth with these life lessons leads to meaningful change.

My wife's grandfather was a Gideon. He passed away in April of last year. His house and garage have Gideon Bibles all over them, still in the box. I'd rather give them to people instead of junking them. I'll ship them to anyone who has a need for them and will give them out. I'll cover the shipping.

Stoked to be here! Love SRS, saw the Leif teaser, HAD to sign up for early access. Appreciate everyone.

I probably wouldn't ask this question on YouTube but hopefully here I won't get to crucified. After all the books I have read (listened to on Audible) I still can't exactly figure out how the officer/enlisted thing works in the SEAL Teams. If you are going on a mission is there always a officer with you? If you are straight out of BUDs and check into a SEAL Team are you over the e5/e6 enlisted men?? I've just never exactly understood that in the SEAL Teams.

Wow listened to it all the way through in one shot. Love these long form war fighters interviews! God bless him and all he is doing now!!

Shawn I left you a message on the early access video with Babin. I asked you to tell him thank you for me. After reading extreme ownership and watching many of Jocko's podcasts and many other military based podcasts inspired me to have the never quit mindset into myself!! I have almost 6 years of sobriety now and started working in the field of working with other alcoholics like myself. I'm a certified peer recovery specialist and work at a detox. That book saved my life from being in the depths of darkness to loving myself and Life. My favorite quote he said about Mark Lee was.. " everybody's a winner!!! Oh oh there bringing in the Iceman" sorry for the loss of your brothers who made the ultimate sacrifice. I just hope you see this message because you have NO idea how you helped me. Cover and move brother.. I got you covered all day Leif. Thank you so much for everything you have done for this awesome country, your brothers and especially me. God bless you

Jesse

Solid! Leif and jocko are solid dudes. Great transfer of knowlegde

Leif referencing the Player Hater's Ball is awesome and priceless😆👏👏👏.

I was already a huge fan of Shawn and have immense respect for everything he has done, everything he has gone through, and everything he has done since his time serving the country. But wow. Hearing Leif's story about Shawn's Hell Week rollback (losing the brown shirt then getting it back), his dedication to keep pushing, his support of the new candidates AND his humility in not telling this story in any forum I've listened to in over 4 years has cemented my already steadfast respect and support for Shawn. Thank you, Leif, for sharing.

Joe

For your story on the accidental Discharge could you share more on what happened if possible just curious, if it’s something you want to keep private than no worries Thanks good episode👍

FLO

I’m pumped for this one!

John Rodriguez

Can we push the chairs back and have a rematch?🤣😂

Eric Franks

The blood pinning being hazing investigation reminds me of getting blood rank pinned on the Army when I became sergeant and it eventually became hazing and went away.

Nick

I got Judges 6:12 tatted on a hatchet with a cross on it on my left arm. The day I had a wreck and a spinal cord injury that was my daily Bible verse. Awesome

Bryce

Wow, just wow man

Eric Franks

The scripture was it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get to Heaven.

Lydia

I'm grateful he included executive women (my tribe) in his trainings and examples. It's a blessing to have a man who understands those of us called into upper leadership within the workforce. Extreme leadership (taking full responsibility and owning your sh#t) is extremely powerful. My eldest son is reading through Extreme Leadership. Thanks again SRS.

Amen 🙏🏼 100% agree with Leif that Shawn is doing Gods work ♥️

This gentleman is a SOLID Christian. He is measured with his words & displays the evidence of joy in his demeanor. Self-effacing, intelligent & tough rarely go hand in hand. Bless you both.

Shed some tears on this one. I just can’t say thank you enough. I can see why guys want to run thru walls for this man. What a leader 🇺🇸

Mauricio Blanco

Shawn can you investigate kbr and dick chenny?

Caleb

I heard a story from somewhere that Marc Lee would carry the MK48 without a sling and if you've never picked one up......respect 🫡 for that dude

Aleyda Alvarenga

Excellent interview. Thank you. If you'd like to know more about wealth and faith, look into some of Dave Ramsey (Financial Freedom) responses to those questions. A Shawn Ryan interview with Dave would be WONDERFUL!

Phil Wood

Fantastic interview.

Missy

Man!!!!! Such an awesome interview! Just pulled the trigger on the “book purchase”!!!!

Sean, maybe not be another Bro! As they go - quotes: """Looking back over the past 17 years, you can trace the impact of Lone Survivor on the post-military lives of famous former SEALs. It’s perhaps not surprising that Luttrell made his revelations in a podcast with Rob O’Neill, whose published account of shooting Osama bin Laden has also been heavily criticized as both inaccurate and unethical. There’s a direct line from Lone Survivor to Chris Kyle’s 2012 book American Sniper, which emerged out of the fiasco of Task Unit Bruiser in Ramadi, Iraq. Kyle’s commanding officer, Jocko Willink, is now a leadership guru, podcaster, children’s book author, and energy drink salesman. “It is that toxic Bro-vet community that has decided to trade in their values for money and fame,” Brent Taylor, a former Army Delta Force operator who has called out Luttrell and others in the special operations world, said on his own show, The AntiHero Podcast. “And they all run in the same circles. They all promote each other.” "A Famous Seal BTW is - well it is not supposed to be...." https://theiceman.substack.com/p/the-trouble-with-task-unit-bruiser

Thank you!

Very powerful interview, thank you!!

In response to the discussion on wealth I personally reflect on the parable of talents Mathew 25 : 14-30. Make the most of the opportunities God gives you especially with money.
