There’s a million plus people out there who can relate to this, and can take something from it. Awesome testimony.

Wow their life and background is so damn similar to mine. In terms of having the kids in the trap houses I never did but I grew up with all 3 parents addicted. My dad stealing me from my mom's and stepdad only to leave me with his gf while he ran from the feds. Me starting meth at 12 & in federal prison at 16. 10yrs 4 months clean just to relapse after my heart was broken and I found love only to be cheated on and told I was nothing. That is the same man who I broke his nose 2x during addiction and then years later after going to prison and getting clean HE still wanted ME! We are both different humans. We've know each other since we were 18. Watched each other's relationships fail, we were there for each other's first borns as friends, there to pick each other up during broken relationships or addictions (mine). Even after all of that when I go to prison he still wanted me more than anything. We got married in 2020 we have five kids two businesses & a beautiful relationship!Gosh I love what they've been able to do. I am clean 12years on 2/7/2025. I hope they continue!!

Denny Meinert

This is a crazy story. But so relatable.

FrenchFriedFool85

I am speechless. God is the author of these blessings using imperfect people to bring people to a new home on their path what a wonderful way to spend an evening and I am sick too! Thank you Shawn for sharing these people who are treasures to those who hear and then support and point the way! Thank you

Please reach out when renovating that place for rehabilitation! I don't have a lot of money to spend but I can build. I've been in construction for 18years. My husband and I have a construction business for 12years! I can help with the remodel! Please reach out

Thank you Ben & Jess for sharing your story. Fighting your Demons everyday since teenagers...onward & upward! God bless you both on your walk. Great interview Shawn. You could have a great career as a therapist if you give up your interview gig.

5.5 hours let’s go!

Cocaine Hydrochloride is the powder, adding Baking Soda and heating it turns into into “Free Base” (Crack) which is the smokable version of Cocaine. I’ve never done either but had family members' and family friends' lives almost ruined or ruined and sent to prison. The brother of the family friend brought it around when he let his brother stay at his place (which he lost because he had to sell it to get a better lawyer.) Be careful who you let stay in your house (even if it’s family.) I got my older brother out of that situation just before it all came crashing down. He totally changed his life around and has been clean over 20 years.

The Poppies in Flanders Fields are Papaver rhoeas, commonly known as the corn poppy or red poppy. These are not opium poppies (Papaver somniferum). In November each year we all wear the Red Poppies in remembrance for those whom gave their lives in WWI. 11.11.1918 The poem In Flanders Fields was written by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, a Canadian physician and soldier, during World War I. It was inspired by the death of his friend, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer, in 1915. Here is the full poem: In Flanders Fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. This poem became one of the most famous war memorial verses and is closely associated with Remembrance Day (November 11).

This one is different. It's hard for me to listen to stories about so much mayhem and then trust that the people really are clean. I just can't relate I guess. I never had any desire for substances.

Talk to your Guardian Angel every morning ask Him for his assistance thru the day after your am prayers to God.

Ben and Jess are active on LinkedIn. I had heard of them before SRS and had no idea that Ben's background was involved in the culture of Memphis. It's complex content for me, to be honest, as I've dealt with many of my veteran friends crumbling from SA, some of which have terrible endings. I am grateful you had BOTH Ben and Jess on to get their stories. Shawn, you and your team have the wherewithal to discuss the darkest and most challenging issues plaguing our nation and world. Please keep the content coming and let your Patr(e)ons know how we can band together and help.

Jake Briscoe

I believe this is one of the most important interviews you’ve ever done in your whole career.

Adam Schultz

Holy Shit what a rollercoaster of emotions that episode was! Knocked it out of the park Ryan well done sir!

Sam Savage

Can't believe it was even possible, but these episodes are better and better...just when I call it, as best ever....then the next powerful story is told and a new level of brilliance is set..... THIS IS THE GAME CHANGE MOVEMENT RIGHT HERE....! LOL THESE ARE THE STORIES THAT CHANGE THE WORLD...🙏🏽🌎💎 BLESS...! applaud vigilance family for the work your doing. This is on a level of magnitude like nothing else the world has ever seen, such a gift to humanity.

Blake persons

Best gummy bears in the world! (You can tell how far I’ve made it so far)

Mel

I really struggled to listen to this without judgement. Those poor children.

Josh Walker

I'm about half way through. Am I missing something? Or am I not there yet? The first sentence of the video description says Army vet. Did he not say he washed out at Basic or AIT?

Eric Franks

I retired the past year from the Army and I work in admissions for Drug rehabs in West Tennessee including the Memphis area and I need to get his contact info and I’d like to help.

Nanci

Recovering alcoholic here and we say at the tables.. “baby a drunk, bury a drunk” Alcoholics don’t even need excuses but it seems to make our dysfunction more socially acceptable.. death waiting to happen. “ poor me, poor me.. pour me a drink” is something I say to myself when I’m whining about life. No room for that

Angela Paterniti

Very hard for me to listen to as the Mom of an addict. I went through hell for 17 years before I lost my son at the age of 33.

Nate

I was going to leave the Patreon because I was tired of political episodes. Then this episode dropped. Amazing. I honestly needed to hear this episode today. I’m a firefighter struggling with functional alcoholism and this episode is speaking to my soul. Thanks Ben and thanks Shawn.

Nathan Spivey

I can relate to Ben and Shawn so much, to Meth, blow and a raging alcoholic. In the infantry it was like you were shamed for not drinking. And it continued to get worse. 2:01:45 I think Ben is trying to explain alcoholic dementia. Where us alcoholics drink so much it kills your Brain. Thanks Shawn, I didn’t start to get clean and sober until I found your show. Interesting enough 8 months sober when this released on here

Andrew Kerr

Thoughts about JD Vance's slander of British troops who fought along side yourselves in multiple conflicts around the world? I like you Shawn and have been a supporter for many years! You speak for what is right. How come you have gone very quiet on these topics and are not standing up for the veteran community with your platform?

Nick

I can relate to Ben & Jess's life. Started drinking @ HS parties on the weekends & pain pills after a motocross accident when I was 16. Fast forward 15 years and I'm drinking very very heavily along with a $200+ daily pain pill addiction that ended up with me losing over $25k in tools (diesel technician) both of my beautiful vehicle's, my house & in the very end, losing my job. 5/16/25 my daughter will be 9. I've been sober (with the acception of drinking 2 times, which is a reminder why I quit to begin with) since she was 6mo old. I thank God daily for sending me an angel on 5/6/2016. My daughter knows she saved my life, and when she's older I plan on telling her how.

Andrew Wrath

Regarding the discussion about 444 - I zoned out part way through that conversation so I hit the back arrow a few times to rewind. It took me back to 4:44 of the video. My mom was very unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer two days before this. If there was ever a time to get a wink from God, it was that moment.

Elijah Ballard

This interview gives me hope for my uncle Charlie Christensen, drug of choice is black tar heroine. Last seen Eugene, OR.

Austin browning

Love it another amazing show 👏🏻👏🏻

Kurt Nagl

I'm not sure if Shawn or Ben will read this, but this episode struck a cord with me. I was in tears listening to this podcast episode. My son was a Heroin addict for 5 years. He started with Adderall, then snorted heroin, then injected it. He overdosed in his bedroom, and I performed CPR on him and resuscitated him. He was in and out of rehab for 3 years. During all of this, I was a police officer in Baltimore City. He attempted suicide twice, trying to get enough fentanyl to die. But he didn't. God had a plan. I finally gave him the sink or swim treatment. He's been clean for over 6 years, a great job, girlfriend and a one month old son. I couldn't be more proud of him. And you, too, Ben. You are an inspiration.

Shane Wickham

Memphis is my hometown and man what a story with a impact. I’m greatful to see people like you making a difference and helping Memphis to get off that list. It’s a great city, Make Memphis Great Again! 🇺🇸👊

Bill

The single most incredible recovery story I’ve heard in 35 years of Sobriety. Un F#%ing real. Thank you Shawn 🙏🏻👊🏼

Denise Manjarrez

Ok sorry Shawn , I love you, but I had to pause the episode (3:31:33) just to say, every guy in that room sucks. lol First, this poor poor woman was completely broadsided when her husband just blurts out very personal details, of what we now know to be one of the most devastating moments of her life, that none of us saw coming, on a national broadcast. Then, you sandbag her and call her up to the carpet, to further discuss the hurtful and I know from first-hand experience, humiliating details. Keeping her composure, she obliges and is first class all the way in answering all of your questions. After having the life sucked out of her on the world's stage, she very politely apologizes for her mouth being dry and you knuckleheads can't take a subtle hint and get this poor lady a glass of water.🤦‍♀️ And you guys worked in "intelligence" of all things. I hope all of your wives were tuning in! 🤣

Janet Greenwood

Holy crap! I cannot believe his wife hung out for all this. What a jerk for leaning on her like a mommy. No balls. No honor. Not a man. Sits here and giggles through the story.?what’s funny?

Janet Greenwood

How can it be that every woman he meets twists into a pretzel just to get him into a relationship? He’s no prize. This whole thing is bs
