Shawn, I got rid of cable several years ago & started listening to sermons and reading the Bible. Before that, I would open the Bible, read a few verses and nothing. One reason we don't get anything out of that I'd because we aren't reading it in context. It's like opening a novel, reading a passage and writing a report. It doesn't work. Here are some people I've learned the MOST from and they are AMAZING. Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, look him up on YT. Skip Heitzig teaches verse by vers through the Bible & you can do his 30,000 ft view of the different books of the Bible, he's amazing & Pastor Jack Hibbs, he also teaches verse by verse through the Bible. Ruckman is probably my favorite, because he's sarcastic too. However, sometimes he's racist in his early days. He apologized for it before he passed. He was preaching in the 40's=2000's I give grace. He's a genius. Start reading the Gospel of John. From beginning to end & you will understand it. It will give you confidence to start reading more. I remember when I started reading & then I'd go to bed and wake up & understand things I'd never understood before, it's amazing. Pastor Charles Lawson is another favorite of mine. WHY Jesus had to die❓️ When we sin against an eternal, Holy being, the punishment is ALSO ETERNAL‼️ So 1 sin would require an eternity in Hell. However because God loves us he stepped into our world and took our punishment because only an eternal, perfect being could make atonement for our sins. I hope this helps. Paul said, "If Christ be not risen we are still I'm our sins. Our faith is in vain & we are to be pitied." So our faith hangs on the Resurrection, meaning Jesus is exactly who he says he is.

Rick Miller

God speaks to me very much the same way John is describing. He uses such to make me aware of evil, the need to pray for someone, and various other matters to guide me through my journey with Christ. At times, I have used the words God Wink to describe when God speaks to my mind, heart, and soul in order to remind me of how much he loves and cherishes me!

Where is the separation of the Jews & Gentiles ❓️Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity (open hostility) Between you and the woman, And between your seed (offspring) and her Seed; He shall [fatally] bruise your head, And you shall [only] bruise His heel.” The physical seed of the woman will be the line in which Jesus is born. We, the Church are the SPIRITUAL seed ONLY‼️ Do NOT let anyone convince you that God is finished with Israel or with the Jewish people. That's a lie from the pit of Hell. They are his chosen people. God swore by himself because their was no one greater to keep his covenant with Israel & he will. It will come through much pain & suffering. God isn't going to deliver Israel because they deserve it, none of us deserve salvation, the Bible says God will do it for his name's sakel 🇮🇱. The Bible warns time & time again. Look here in Romans 11:25-26 Paul says, "I do not want you, believers, to be unaware of this mystery [God’s previously hidden plan]—so that you will not be wise in your own opinion—that a partial hardening has [temporarily] happened to Israel [to last] until the full number of the Gentiles has come in; 26and so [at that time] all Israel [that is, all Jews who have a personal faith in Jesus as Messiah] will be saved; just as it is written [in Scripture], “THE DELIVERER (Messiah) WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB. There's plenty of proof for Jesus's existence. However, Jesus asks us to believe on him through FAITH, not empty faith rather reasonable proof and I think we have more than enough. The Bible says, the Jews require a sign and the Greeks (gentiles) seek after wisdom. All the signs will be here once Jesus removes the believer's via the Rapture. The spiritual world and the physical world will combine and it will extremely difficult not to be deceived. I was a lesbian for 20+ yrs & the Lord saved me, changed my heart and gave me new desires immediately. I struggled with fear & anxiety and all that left. My mama and I lost everything in Helene, but the Lord has been FAITHFUL and we've had a roof over our heads every night. Please pray 🙏 for us aswe have a place to stay until June 1st and then❓️I know the Lord will provide, but any prayer is appreciated. The ark of the covenant was so Holy only the priest could carry. Only they could enter once a year & they had to be right with the Lord or they would die. That's why they had things on them that would jingle, so if they died they could be pulled out. Anyway, do you think that God would use demonic practices to show people a Holy relic❓️ I don't know the answer. CHRIST in you the HOPE of GLORY‼️ Someday soon Jesus will shout our name just as he did Lazarus' and the dead will be raised, we will be changed and we'll have a huge reunion in the clouds before we go to the Father. I can't wait. P.S. This is the Amplified Bible Version from Blue Letter Bible, you might like it.

You won’t understand the Bible until you read it front to back. You can’t understand any book spot reading a book. Same with the Bible. Zach windahl has an amazing beginner Bible study with very little commentary that takes you through a big picture understanding. This changed my life. It’s called the Bible Guide. Then, you can dig deeper and have discernment. John Hagee is also awesome and has almost every subject out there in a preaching message. But start with this Bible study - it takes you through the Bible in a year. It’s pretty amazing. Every Christian should do this at least once or in my opinion, you will have a difficult journey: eventually, the Bible will start to make sense - for me it was after the psalms. It took me about a year and half. I’m telling you a game changer. If someone hasn’t done this, I will know more than them as they start speaking on the Bible. I know pretty quickly if someone hasn’t done this when they start talking about the Bible.

Melissa King

Blue book Bible (free) and once you get good at reading it: Hebrew names version is now my favorite. I’m reading through the Geneva Bible, which is in Middle English so it’s a slower read. This is the same Bible our founding fathers used.

Cooper43

If everyone is redeemable what about the lost souls. I love these guys they are great. Time flies when I listen.

Tom Ryan

I enjoy Sean Ryan, and I just joined to listen to this particular podcast I hope it's worth it.

DW

As another poster said, read it front to back. Don't set crazy goals or a specific amount of time you have to do it in, turning it into a task to check off your list. Set aside some time each day and just read for a while. Then once you've finished, do it again, and again. The more you do that, the more it all will start to come together. It gets exciting.

Melissa King

Jesus died on the cross because it took the sacrifice of a man-God’s blood to make amends for our sins. This was Gods plan to save mankind from our sins after the fall of Adam. We are all born into sin, and only the blood of the Lamb (Jesus Christ - see Shiloh in the Bible) for salvation because God cannot be around sin. We must have sin eliminated prior to going to Heaven.

Melissa King

God has laws that He lives by. However, there’s a reason they aren’t in the Bible. One, I believe He hides it from the enemy. Second, we need to be careful of legalism that Jesus teaches against to the Pharisees. Three, I believe we will learn these in the “Age of God” following the millennial reign of Jesus Christ after Lucifer is defeated after he’s loosed for a season. Why? So those who haven’t chosen - those born during the millennial reign - get to choose. We choose God to get to eternity with Him. Otherwise, we choose Hell for eternity, but we are making a choice of one or the other. You don’t get to go into the ground and pretend it doesn’t exist. You also don’t come back as something else.

Lana Eustachy

Shaun thank you so much for this gift! John and Lee did such a great job explaining just a sliver of Gods story. When God met me where I was , I dove into the Bible. I joined a Bible study and God opened my eyes. Shaun you have such an inquisitive and curious mind and that is a gift from God. Start digging into Gods word and praying for HIM to reveal His word to you. It’s a relationship. Praying for you and your family♥️

Regina

The Bible recap is amazing because it gives you what she calls “ the God shot” and it helps you really pinpoint how God is working in that situation I attend World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro Tennessee. We read the Bible in a year, but we read a little bit of it each day. We have a Bible reading plan. It is an app you can put on your phone and it breaks it down to little bites that are much easier to consume and understand I am from Nashville. I’ve been in church for the past 30 years. I moved to Murfreesboro to go to this church because Pastor Allen Jackson teaches the Bible, and he tells the truth! My small group we meet on Thursday nights at 6:30 and it’s men and women and we are asking some of the same questions that you’re asking, and we are helping each other find and understand the scripture

NKJV - look up Dr. Scott Hahn He’s a Biblical Scholar. He’s great understandable!

Sean, I heard you mention about not understanding the Bible in this interview. I highly recommend the Hallow App! Just listening to the daily reflections every day which take a scripture passage read it, and listening to Jeff Cavins talk about the meaning and application to life. This greatly helped me understand! Lots of other prayer suggestions as well as Bible in a year with father Mike Schmidt who id love to see on your show! God bless and Happy Easter!

SAMH

May I suggest Bible in a Year with Fr Mike Schmitz. Totally worth it. I also suggest the Hallow app. I use it daily.

Crystal Grindstaff

We can't treat the Bible like a magic 8 ball. I use to do the same, but opening the Bible, picking a verse and expecting to understand it that's exactly why we never understand the Bible. Be careful of Catholicism which preaches a works based gospel. It's a False Church that tells people they must confess, stop sinning & I'm sorry but no amount of water, wafers or works will get anyone into Heaven. The ONLY way one is going is to believe on the completed work of Jesus on the cross ✝️. Right b4 he gave up the ghost he said, "IT IS FINISHED." If you believe on his finished work you'll be saved.

Chevalier Richard J. Kraemer

Christ said, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven…” (Matthew 7:21). These words should terrify these two—but they don’t. They keep smiling. Selling. Performing. It is a very well-packaged emotional product that gives the illusion of depth, but rarely calls the soul to radical transformation or holy suffering.

David Bell

Man I love these guys! I love their works!! They have been so important to my faith journey. However, I don’t think they can really answer certain questions that you are looking for. And I’ll say it again! And again and again lol. You need to have Joel Richardson on your show! An absolutely fantastic guy who knows the middle east like very few people know it. And his teachings on the end of the age and the return of Jesus Christ is awesome!! Truly!

Walter

What a excellent interview I've been searching a lot of questions these two answered for a long time thank you so much!!!!!

Barb Dwyer

The devil knows the Bible he is also very legalistic. When you are before our Lord- he’s there fighting to claim your soul. Your lawyer is the Holy Spirit fighting for you.

I joined Patreon based on #1 I'm a huge fan. I've been listening for a year now. #2 based on this particular episode. I am a baby Christian, Shawn. Even though I've always been a believer in Jesus, but I've come across an amazing Bible study. I don't know if you'll ever read this or invest in this free Bible study but it has changed my life and my understanding! Please, if you'd trust this humbled servant of Christ I know it will help you Shawn, and anyone else that wants to understand scriptures better. It's in a question and answer format, which is great for us newbies just trying to understand what it all means. The website is amazingfacts.org it has many different ways to receive these lessons. The first lesson is called, "Is there anything left you can trust?" My answer was fervently, NO! But the answer is yes! You can trust in the Bible. You can also receive these lessons by simply asking for the lessons and they will mail them to you for FREE. No hidden catch! Just a great ministry trying to share the word of God to everyone who wants to understand. It offers scriptures for easy reference so you can search and see for yourself the truth of God's Word!! I hope this will bless you Shawn and anyone that may read this. I will remain on here and pop in from time to time and pray for you! We all need Christ. We do! There is no denying it any longer! We have 2 options! Please let me know if you have any questions and I pray that anyone who reads this, finds this helpful. May you be as blessed as I have been. My knowledge has increased as I always pray for clarity and understanding. God will reveal to all those that seek Him with an earnest heart and truth!

Chris S

I am a believer, but the only question I ever have is why are some prayers answered while so many others aren’t and the answer I always seem to get is God answers in different ways and I still struggle with that concept

Paul Modica

Great interview, now let's be brave and interview Bx_on_x or Becca.

Just Incredible episode

Joseph Curry

For the question of why Jesus had to die for our sins. As stated in a book called The Dialogue where Saint Catherine of Sienna had a conversation with God, God is infinite. Humans are finite. Therefore, a finite being can never make up for an offense against an infinite being because we just don't have the capacity for that. God's solution is that He incarnates Himself and becomes human. He is fully human and fully Devine. When He offers Himself for our sins then an infinite being is making the apology/contrition/repentance to an infinite being and that's why it works. Even the smallest of our sins have infinite and eternal consequences because the offense is against an infinite, eternal being. Because Jesus is of the same nature as God and is fully Devine as well then His is the only sacrifice that can reach full atonement.

Chevalier Richard J. Kraemer

“They honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.” (Matthew 15:8). They sell a Gospel with no scars, a crown with no thorns, and a Jesus who exists to make them feel good, not to make them holy.

PEACE ✌️

I Believe this Story of what I just went through is Something that I would say could have been a MIRACLE 30 minutes ago I was coming out of the grocery store and I was putting my groceries in my truck and I heard someone keep repeating something so when I got into my truck I was looking diagonal from a vehicle that this man was repeating over and over He said grab the handle and pull up on it The third time I was like I’m sure he wasn’t talking to the family dog Hottest day so far this year 83 I was just about to turn the key and I said I need to at least see what is going on I asked him what was going on if he needed some help I realized in two seconds that a young child was in the vehicle so I walked around the vehicle as I was asking some questions I told him I’ll be right back and I came back with two flathead screwdrivers and a decent size Pin wrench and I told him this is the smallest window on your vehicle but I seen one smaller I gave him the option what he wanted to break I asked him if he had called the police he said no I said you should start thinking about calling them I was going to be Respectful for about two more minutes and then I was going to smash the smallest piece of glass on his vehicle He was on the top of his truck standing on the roof and taking my pin wrench and trying to pry the sunroof open And then BAM 💥 Some HEROES SHOWED UP there was three people going towards the store to go shopping The one gentleman said is everything OK I told him everything quickly but his buddy was all ready on it he went back to their vehicle and he brings out a 4 foot kit for unlocking vehicles He opened this kit open he took this airbag that he pumped up I gave him a screwdriver to get it started Opened up the top of the door and put the tool into the door handle and opened up the door I’m not sure what was going to happen if I didn’t come out at that time Or if these people were going to park in the same spot This guy didn’t realize how fast it gets hot in a vehicle in very little time 83 is hot enough to make a difference on their Easter He was insisting that his kid was going to open up the door handle 2 or so years old wasn’t going to happen We all thanked each other and went our separate ways This guy Thanked me again for stopping and trying to help him I am still listening to this episode still I was sitting in my truck with the air on listening to it GLUED TO IT But I was thinking about things on the way home I would say Someone had their Guardian Angel watching and stepping into this situation that was playing out in real time this whole thing happened within five to ten minutes The Kid was fine the whole time never cried just was sitting in his car seat like nothing was happening I’m happy because I was just about to cost him money for a new window This I’m sure will be something they will talk about for many of EASTERS PEACE ✌️

Great episode! Years ago when my kids were younger I went to bake some cupcakes for my youngest son’s birthday party and I couldn’t find my cupcake pan anywhere, which was really strange because I used to make them often. I got a thought in my head to drive 25 mins to my mom and dad’s house to borrow my mom’s cupcake pan. I could not shake the thought.. I could have went to the store and bought another pan and it would have been much faster. But the thought just wouldn’t leave my head.. so I loaded up 3 kids and drove to my mom’s house, it was around lunch time .. I walked in and my dad was sitting at the table eating a bowl of cereal, he had his work uniform on and his face was really pale. I said you don’t look so good dad is everything all right? He said he was feeling short of breath .. I asked if he had any pain and he said his chest felt a little tight.. I convinced him we needed to go to the ER and get checked out just to be sure. . He was not the type to go to the dr very often but he agreed to let me take him in…. Long story short his heart was 95% blocked and they did an emergency stent … while they were walking him back to the surgery room the nurse looked at me and said you saved your dad’s life… but it wasn’t me.. it was God putting me in the right place at the right time and I am so thankful for it… it wasn’t an audible voice it was just a thought and very strong intuition that I needed to go to my mom and dads house. Thank God I did!

Scripture should be read with prayer and studied, pondering. Always listening for the quiet small voice of the Holy Ghost.

Melanie Presley

This was absolutely one of the best! Your podcasts have truly enriched my life in all areas!!! God is certainly using you. One of my sons introduced me to your show and I’m so thankful and have been sharing with so many friends!!! Happy Easter to you and yours!

Mike G

Happy Easter!

Don Joslin

Happy Easter !!! I pray this mission continues to prosper. In Jesus name, Amen!!!

Ken W

Happy Resurrection Day SRS! Next time you get a priest or another person of faith like these two, ask them about the Nag Hammadi scrolls found in upper Egypt in 1945 and about the Gospel of Thomas? It’s interesting to hear different perspectives on this!

This interview just made my top favorite list 💯

Very grateful ❤️. Thank you father 4 opening my eyes & ears. Outstanding interview!!!

Awesome interview.

Jesus was 3 days in the tomb because of 2 main reasons: A) that is what was prophesied. B) In Jewish tradition at that time, the death was final after 3 days. If he resurrected earlier than 3 days, they could say he was never really dead in the first place.

Joshua Marcantel

Why does the Aramaic get ignored or translated to the Greek, and Greek is considered original when Jesus spoke Aramaic? This is a formal education in religion / theology thing.
