John Stryker Meyer is a decorated Green Beret who served two tours in Vietnam (1968-1969 and 1969-1970) with the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group(MACV-SOG). Enlisting in 1966, he earned his Special Forces tab in 1967 and joined Spike Team Idaho, later leading Recon Team Idaho at Command and Control North (CCN) in Da Nang. Meyer’s missions took him across borders into denied areas, facing intense combat—including surviving multiple gunshot wounds and leading his team through impossible odds. After Vietnam, he served with the 10th Special Forces Group, then transitioned to civilian life as a journalist and author. He hosts the podcast, SOG Cast, and preserves the legacy of special operations veterans.

I'm ready for this one. My grandpa served in this war, and I never got the opportunity to ask much about it.

Interview. SOG warrior Dick “dynamite” Thompson, these warriors are aging everyday and we should act hastily. You never know when these men could be taken from us. RIP Doug LeTourneau

I met some really great men while I served on board the USS Hue City CG 66. (now currently in mothballs) They would hold a reunion on board the ship every year on the anniversary of the 68' Tet Offensive. Everyone that came had served in the battle for Hue City on the perfume river. The battle at the end of Full Metal Jacket takes place in Hue City during this time. "Phase Line Green" and "Fire In The Streets" are both really well done and good reads about this battle.

Another chapter told and stored / Each one powerful, earthly lives / People under God, questions explored / Here, where truth unwavering strives.

Love these Vietnam era interviews, another great historical interview in the books for SRS 💯🇺🇸💪🏻

The most believable scenario was that one of the Secret Service walking in front of the President's Car shot Kennedy. They immediately took his weapon and the trajectory of the Bullet matches that. 🤷‍♂️

Vietnam in a nutshell Vietnam was under French rule and exploiting the Vietnam Rubber plantation Farmers for Michelin. France asked for the US’s help. There is more to it, but that is kinda the basics. There was a big meeting. The NVA really didn't want to go full commie, and never did.

I was a seismic sensor operator for A 1/26 Marines sw of Danang. They had planted those sensors in the Danang barriers and I would monitor them from a company base. Based on what the interpretation was x animals, people or vehicles we could call in arty or air. Fast forward to 1976 I did the same thing for the Sinai Field Mission in the Sinai desert where we planted those sensors in the passes east of Suez that were tank trails during the previous wars between Israel and Egypt.

We're a civilization (if we can call it that) that has been warring for milenniums... we've sacrificed billions of people over the eons. If this is not too far out of the realm of believability for this audience, I've had past life recollections of being a warrior and of being a healer of warriors when they return from battle. We are here on this planet, living through cyclical journeys of these repeating patterns. While it is possible to free ourselves from this, it takes tremendous spiritual effort and discipline, akin to military discipline, to accomplish. he tragedy is that this knowledge has been hidden from us. Until we have reclaimed it, I honor the sacrifices made. I call at the same time on the warrior in every one of us, to stand for our liberation from the warring culture that planet earth has become.

I work in security and years ago I was flown up to Southeast Chicago for a strike that was going on at an oil refinery. I met a guy named Trung that was a South Vietnamese veteran. That guy was fucking hysterical. He had the most funny, sad, and wild stories about the fall of South Vietnam and how he escaped.

Robert Hess

Did you really not know what the Bay of Pigs invasion was? I am surprised!!

J H KINDT

this guy IS John Wayne! I wonder if he served with a guy by the name Horace Barefoot?

Hey Chad do any of you know if Mr. Ryan ever interviewed Dr Leonard Snodgrass. He's the oldest American in written record that you guys agree to I have my own record because I actually had family in the Revolutionary War on both branches but that's neither here nor there. He's advertised as the oldest man to enlist in the army really interesting story a psychologist and he was treating men from world War II all the way up to the global war on terror if you haven't seen the danger close episode I'm now calling it that because I've invited Mark greene to an event and now I'm just going to get back to work and watch and discussed as you all do nothing
