Really good discussion!

For every weapon someone will make a counter. We have seen drones enter battle, next will be anti-drone solutions. Then better drones, and the cycle repeats.

Quote "It's cheaper for the taxpayer because so many people want to invest in these companies." Reaction People want to invest in these companies so they can make a profit and the only people buying the products are the government using people's tax dollars. Question In the big picture is it cheaper for the taxpayer or is just one part of the process cheaper for the taxpayer, namely manufacturing? Question Since these behemoth monopoly corporations who produce weapons are also powerful enough to lobby the government and affect foreign policy, especially in terms of conflict and the use of their products which drives sales of their products, how can more competition change the Public's awareness of war profiteering? Question If the government already knows what it wants and just needs to find the best manufacturers, should we consider nationalizing the private military industrial complex corporations? General Statement of Fact There are currently too many conflicts of interest and perverse incentives in this industry, as well as every other industry and public or private institution. We are a captured nation, because our government is captured by these powerful industrial complexes which effect all of the institutions we interface with from schools to healthcare to trying to start a business. The methods of capture are not only money in politics but compromise and blackmail of our government officials elected and appointed, and every branch of government. Society has gotten so bad that they don't even understand the concept of war profiteering and everyone is so scared to lose their job or their license for whatever they do that no one stands up to corruption and everyone goes along to get along. It's been that way for my entire life but it seems worse to me now than ever. People didn't get that upset when they found out we had started openly torturing prisoners and sending them to Black sites, during the W Bush admin, or that we had a weekly assassination list given to Obama and he was jailing national security whistleblowers. Why aren't our natural resources nationalized? Why don't we the people own our natural resources in a collective way that would benefit everyone instead of the very few? Does anyone else see that these public private partnerships and their new stakeholder capitalism want to own everything and they don't want to have a Commons? What's become normal doesn't mean it's right and what's become associated with the advantage of competitive markets has become full spectrum dominance of society. This statement is not about ideology as an identity, it's about using the correct ideology in the correct context. We have been tricked into thinking that no two economic or philosophical ideologies can coexist, when, in fact, they are interdependent and we are way out of balance which means our infrastructure is crumbling and that's a desired outcome of the owners who want to keep owning more and more and more. I see this additional competition in the manufacturing space as a good thing because it's not a monopoly, but are they working under a monopoly? Is the big picture of monopoly? Because that's not what was detailed in The Constitution. It's gotten so bad that people think we need to go to war with countries because they are collectivist, without realizing that the United States Military is also collectivist. Most people wouldn't recognize war profiteering if it was paid to hit them in the face. It used to be a thing that people understood and would get pissed off about. Think about the world war II generation and what happened so that we could produce what we needed to fight. What happened to private companies that were forced by the government to build what the government told them to build instead of what they were building before, because it was a state of emergency - we were at war!!! Now war is not an emergency it's a business and people don't know the difference. I'm suggesting drastic measures just to get attention to the concept, because, as we have seen very obviously, recently, the president is not in control of the executive branch or foreign policy. He created a movement of people to clean this crap up, just because he knew it would get him elected. It was a strategy just like the party he chose. I have been boycotting the big two parties since the 1996 election and I suggest everyone do the same because this movement is not about parties. Parties are about corruption and we have to declare our independence and respect our right to vote. ...and stuff.
