Before gaining fame on YouTube, Gentile worked in Hollywood as a producer and writer, contributing to projects like The Naughty Show (2011) and Stoned Science (2018), and providing voice-over work, including roles in The Legend of Korra. In 2011, he co-founded SpeedWeed, a cannabis delivery company, with his brother Gino and wife Jen.

The Why Files has amassed a large following for its professional, encyclopedia-like analysis of conspiracies without interruptions.

You both are valued and appreciated. Don't stop! The world needs you💯♾️

Super interested in the new cos. especially the network. What’s the general structure? A podcast network? Producing more shows? Pushing other creators and capturing the ad revenue? Any details you guys could share would be really cool to hear.

PEACE ✌️

PEACE ✌️ NANO NANO You are AWESOME PLEASE KEEP UP ALL THE GOOD WORK THAT YOU DO WITH THE “WHY FILES “

Michael Ricciardi

That was an amazing show. I was pissed that there wasn't another couple hours to go when it ended. I always loved The Why Files and AJ's authenticity is what makes compelling stories all the more watchable. The very same magic is at work in your studio, Shawn. It takes a lot to get me to sit reasonably still for 3+ hours. Keep up the great and meaningful work. The GSC 🤠

Chill Wil

Why am I smiling like a little kid watching these two talk! This is amazing.

Mike Williams

This was better than i could have imagined… I’m glad he skipped the childhood, growing up, etc. straight to the good stuff.

David Helmbrecht

Shawns all like this guy is top ten and I'm like WHO the hell is he? 😂

Sic Infit

This is incredible! Far better than his interview with Rogan. I love the honesty. Keep up the great work!

Joe Hector

Stolen Valor? Scars and Stripes? TK? Sad as fvck.

Brittny Steele

I had no idea things got that bad in Cali. I was deep in addiction during that time and wasn’t paying attention to anything. I live in Arkansas and EVERYONE rebelled against the masks. Literally. You tell a town of less than 20K farmers to do something, we do the opposite. So I truly had no idea. Plus side… about to be 3 years sober! Love you guys!

Joe Hector

This is one of the most fascinating interviews on SRS. I will be watching The Why Files. Thanks!

Brittny Steele

I think what you BOTH are doing is extremely important!! I truly mean that.

Seth O

Love this episode! Shawn, you killed it as always, and AJ, I’m a huge fan! Seeing both of you like this, shows me a few things in the world are good. Keep it up gents!

My opinion is that when God created the Universe and choose to put our oversized Moon in orbit to help sustain life on Earth. The odds of this of this being a coincidence by the data of other solar systems proves in my mind that the Earth being in the exact orbit of Sun, the moons orbit to produce and sustain life can only be from our creator.

Doctor P.

Omg-had no idea - I wanna ask questions after the interviews????? After I had 70 questions- ???????sos/mayday

Timothy Ingles

This episode was a blast to watch. Two of my favorite hosts, AJ and Sean. Thanks for making this happen!

weighthead84

I know where there is a rock carved into an axe head. Judging by the stone powerlifters like Brian Shaw pick up, it's upwards of 400 plus lbs. That's just what I can see above the ground. Can see where it was carved for the "rope" to sit in to keep it from coming off. If I could post a picture here I would. It's buried in the bottoms, in the woods.

Ernie Glass

Awesome, love the interview, love the topics

David Fisher

I have watched every episode BOTH you and AJ have ever posted. This is the best episode EITHER of you have ever released. Listening to you two open up sharing the same issues as I have struggled with gave my courage. Thank you!

Brodie

Shawn should interview hecklefish. If only for a 10 minute clip or short. Talk about going viral lol

The conversation about the right and left living in a protective-of-ideology bubble, leaves out a fact about the public discussion. Namely, every social media, "today's public square" , site feeds and suggests ONLY like minded and persons similar to you in terms of personality, ideology, and life experience. There is a willful effort to keep the opposing view off the table and sequestered somewhere else.

George Liaw

Really liked the discussion about the impact, disinformation, and challenges that goes unsaid between two of the largest independent news/information sources. It really struck a chord with me in listening to you guys trying to do the right thing and hold on to integrity. Keep doing your thing SRS. I am also officially a fan of The Why Files.

George Liaw

Food for thought about vetting guests regarding data. One of the biggest challenges in trying to find information is the disconnect between raw data and inquiry. For example, the easiest example is a paper document search on a computer. There is no bridge for the document other than reading the physical. The only reason why it comes up in a search is because it has been cataloged and appropriately labeled in a digital database. Now let’s take the digital scan–all it is is an image file. You run optical character recognition (OCR) on it, then boom, all text is now searchable on a computer, and the image is converted into a document, pdf, etc. Still needs to be double-checked and proofread (AKA double-keying). Anything with searchable images, webpages, and just about anything aggregated in a search engine, there is underlying metadata, programmable searchable fields, and added keywords to “guide” a search. With these factors in mind, even in the present day, if a database is outdated, has poor OCR, little to no keywords, or worse, fields are not registered to be searchable, it is difficult to aggregate the information you need. And each institution and company will oftentimes run their own set of rules and guidelines, unless they adopt well-accepted standards like Dublin Core, etc. As a thought exercise, let’s say Army records have poor digital search capability. Even if you want to run let’s say a deep background check on a guest, that is dependent on the capabilities of the database. Otherwise, you will only be pointed to a document and you still need to read everything yourself to confirm the contents even if it shows up. AI is going to be a major player in this. Naturally, AI still needs to be able to “perceive” the data, and that means proper character recognition or born digital documents. The powerful thing about AI, is how it speeds up so many processes as the technology advances and is refined. Obviously, AI isn’t just a keyword search. It can analyze and understand the contents to categorize and form conclusions (kinda freaky to think about) to help process information. It may be worth considering building an in-house tool to scour data, let’s say 10,000 emails from a whistleblower, and let AI help categorize like content, pull threads or mentions of certain keywords or names, determine if the mentions are random or form a pattern, etc. Anyway, just info dumping from my personal experiences. Maybe there’s something to this, maybe not.

I've got two things one if you get a telescope off the shelf powerful enough you could look at the Moon and see our waist on the moon the lunar rover all that number two the Plastics guy that's been around since the 1920s the thing is it takes more fuel to burn the Plastics in a vacuum to get the fuel back it cost more to get it do you research you'll find out

Kai Lozano

Respect the fact that Shawn is careful what he talks about and how it might impact peoples decision making

Michael Ashford

Not to mention they didnt just lose it but our iphones have 1 billion the computing power the rockets nav system had. But yea they lost it hahaha

Sandra Croyle

My husband and I love the Why Files, too. It only took one show to turn us into dedicated fans. I especially love that the author isn’t using AI narration.
