White tail deer. They are plentiful you can use all of their carcass to support life and most importantly in my opinion you can carry onto a secure location/base.

Growing up in the middle of the state of MN I do appreciate fresh venison. Whitetail deer are corn fed and delicious. However, moving to AK in ‘82 and hunting moose, that is mighty fine eating and fresh backstrap served with ANYTHING makes a person weep! Just my thoughts, maybe not desert island type of hunting but great conversation starter.

Deer in the Northern New England area where there’s lower environmental contamination, clean water, and fewer insect borne illness risk areas. Deer also don’t have parasites in their meat usually and the population could sustain you with a versatile meat and healthy fats

Water Buffalo in Australia up the Northern Territory/top of W.A. It's true wilderness up there, you can go multiple hundreds of miles and not find another human. I don't think there's any other sub-tropical area in the whole world with such low population density
