How do you deal with PTSD? I’m a disabled 9/11/01 survivor and I struggle. I have no life but for myself and 2 dogs. It gets very lonely to say the least. There aren’t resources available to us that are to veterans and it’s not right. The only thing that keeps me doing is that I saved 4 women that morning in my way out of the building (and I was just a civilian working at my first real job after having graduated college). I had injured myself severely yet even with I those injuries I stayed behind to carry one woman down 20 flights (having to stop every half a flight because I had crushed two discs in my lower back and 1 in my neck). I was in so much pain and so terrified that that first step I took with her I thought I was gonna fall flat in my face with her in my arms and hurt her even more. But for the grace of God I managed to continue on. I carried her to the 44 flr where from the 64th flr. Where I had been working). There in the 44th the had to working service elevators that the EMTS AND fireman were triaging the severely wounded. They took her down in an elevator the whole time she was screaming,” Let me go I needed to know her survives he saved my life.) that moment still haunts my nightmares. I then led the other 3 women down to the mezzanine where they had an L spend line of emergency workers asking you questions about your injuries and what was going on to there while rushing you down an escalator into the plaza underneath. I broke away from them because I’m a traditionally trained Artist and I wanted one more visual representation of what I knew would no longer be there tomorrow. I looked at the glass doors in the square between the buildings and saw the sculpture of atlas shrugging the world and it had a pice of tail fun stinking clear through it. That was when I noticed things hitting the floor everywhere some as close as 20 ft to the glass. They were the people jumping off in droves at that point. Some holding hands other just pearly aiming at the ground with there head. All we alive till they hit the bottom. I Bebe knew what an impact with the ground from that high up did to a body. Some exploded others bounced some screamed and kept bouncing. Stuff of continual nightmares. I’m cutting out everything I saw in my way down because I’m not sure if it appropriate to say it here as I don’t know if you’ll ever see this message. I hope you do brother because I needed help. I’ve struggled for years with substance abuse but was finally able to get off pain meds (the worst part). 6 yrs ago. I used to struggle with drinking but now I can have two and walk away if I want. Me Ryan Shaun I came out of the building with literally 12 minus to spare no sooner dos I get out into the street when the FBI pulled up and began moving everyone towards the Brooklyn Bridge. I started to run. Even injured your body can do amazing stuff while in adrenaline. I ran to city hall as my building 2WTC began to come down and ran into the 4,5 and 6 and E trains subway station hoping that would be far enough under ground incase the buildings fell horizontally. Thank god that didn’t millions would’ve died. Almost everyone I knew from work wasn’t in the building they were outside watching it. I’m going to stop here. There’s so much I want to talk to you about. Not just that day but all of the trials and tribulations that have led to where I am now in life. I hope this reaches you, because I needed to share this story of I ever hope to get better. God bless what you do for all of our men and woman in the service and thank you for doing what I was unable to do after being injured. I’m saying a prayer that you find this. My email is elevine787@gmail.com and my phone number is (423)777-7073 please reach out if you find this. God bless buddy!! You’re a good man.

You can also Vet my story as I write an email to the BBC News the following morning. They were asking if anyone had a story to tell to write them an email so before I went to the hospital I wrote them an email. They called me the next day and asked if they could interview me the following Sunday over the phone and it would be broadcast throughout Europe, so I did. They then did TV interview at the stock exchange with myself a Fireman and Police Officer that were outside during this. I got to ring the bell to start trading. Then in February Morgan Stanley Dean Witter decided to lay all of us off if we couldn’t return to work 980 people. Why, because they were arguing over whom was responsible for taking care of us. Then, workers comp it the building owners. We I called up the mayors office and the deputy mayor gave me the phone number to a friend of his a producer at NY1 news. I did an interview and I then got a call from the legal dept stating that if I would stop bad mouthing Morgan Stanley S Dean Either they would reinstate us. Play us our back pay and 60% of our long term disability plus reinstate our medical benefits. Which they did. If you Google my name Eric S Levine September 11th survivors story the link to the BBC will pop up.
