Hello Tiers II and III,

I hope you are well!

Just finished up filming SRS Episode #007 with Ed Calderon. We have three shows in editing right now and cannot wait to publish! Very soon.

In this video I cover press checks.

It is important to verify the condition of your weapon. It is also important to make sure you are fully back in battery after a press check.

As always, adhere to all firearms safety rules and range commands/protocols at your facility. For more info on safety, see https://www.nrablog.com/articles/2015/7/the-rules-of-nra-gun-safety/

Speaking of ninja status I thought you were gonna comment on the john wick gun flip with one hand press check non sense. Looks cool as fuck but not worth the ND.

Press checking makes sense to me. Its like making sure my front door is locked when I leave the house, Peace of Mind.

So I was curious about Press Checks so did some Youtube "Research" and people commented things like, "I would never do a press check in the middle of a gunfight" I assume you press check before holstering? .. lots of "Press check is for amateurs" ..etc. Just seems like one more way to make sure all is good in your firearm.. thanks for sharing.

Press checking is a good habit. Piece of mind for when you need to be sure. Solid advice as always Shawn.

Especially when working from home, I press check all the time to make sure it's a snapcap, not a live round. Weapon manipulation>coolpoints

At night I usually take my gun and holster out of my pants and put it on a high up shelf in my closet. That way if shit did get bad at night, I can take a few steps to the closet, grab my gun and go to work. In the morning I usually just tuck my holster and gun back in my pants. I rarely do a press check, and if I do I usually only look in the little chamber window to see if I can see brass. I probably should get in the habit of doing a press check every morning just to give myself the warm and fuzzies that I have a gun ready to rock ‘n roll.

You’re fucking kidding me. Who makes a big deal about it?? I swear, I have a ton of shit going on day to day. And I’ll press check in the morning when leaving for work, again at night. Then I unload, dry fire during the week. Reload, and guess what...fucking press check. Before I go out on the town; fucking press check.

I think some of it started because of the use of press checks in entertainment and the addition of new LCI features on new model firearms. Either way, I still like the good old fashioned press check.

Cody Dunkel

Are you gonna do a weapon manipulation video?

More training in production. There are a good amount of them from the early days in the Tactical Training Tab as well. You do have to scroll quite a ways though!

Glad I saw this. I was explain this just the other day and some asshole wanted to get bent on why i dont like doing it from the front. He was like well if you knew your stuff that wouldnt happen. Im.like well im the guy that bad shit happens. So i choose the rear of the gun. Glad to see others have the same thoughts on it. There seems to be a Ranger rick all over the place teaching bad habits. Thanks for the video shawn!! Love them keep them coming!!

David Keller

Really liked this video on showing how its done and why. I take Shawns advice over other youtube yahoos who really are just arm chair coaching. Shawn is real world. His seal and cia experience is invaluable.
