I'm so used to one anime character dying throughout an entire episode, giving emotional speeches and reminiscing about their whole life, that Yue's death also gave me a “👁️👄👁️ huh?” I also liked that you said that fire as an element is not that bad. I think that both ATLA and FMA:B have done a great job of exploring this topic in general, so it's very interesting to watch these two shows at the same time, and I really look forward to hearing your thoughts on it in further episodes

so excited to see you get here! These 2 eps are special to me: other than the full series finale, theyre the two I remember watching live, I remember standing up and cheering during the ocean spirit sequence. This is really where I start loving Aang's character development. The moment where he's finally fully confronted with the war, no running or joking. "I'm just one kid" hits so much harder rewatching as an adult. The scene with Koh still makes me shudder. him going Avatar State and sinking into the pond gives me goosebumps. Taking out fire nation soldiers as the waterbenders bow has always made me think of the angel of death and Passover... "does anyone die in this show" how. do you DO THAT. "its not Yue, right" HOW!? Thats awesome. Yue's sacrifice...I think youre right about it being a kids/family show so stuff happens quick but as an adult, it happening that quickly is so realistic to me. Iroh noticing, guiding as always, she makes the decision immediately, has already said she values duty/protecting her people over everything. Pulls away from Sokka before he can make her lose her nerve. And the actual moment is basically instant. I dont think it would work if it were dragged out but definitely a shock to process! Gonna miss the Zhao roasts lol! Book 2 is such a ride, rollercoaster only goes up from here! And just three books! the finale is four episodes in length total

BAHAHA dude ACTUALLY! She was like "...and yeah...goodbye" *dies* like HUH And indeed! I think that both shows so far have been tackling fire and its 'uses' / portrayal in a really expected way so far, but I think I can see where the writers are going with it. It almost feels like we're going to go through a development arc with even just the concept of fire. Also yes! Kind of crazy to see the parallels between the two of them with the Fire Nation & also Roy Mustang haha. Thanks for watching man!!

Some awesome words from you on Aang's character development here too. I just watched Eps. 1 and 2 of Book 2 and already the continuation of that development with his reluctance to weaponise the Avatar State is so cool. Agree on your thoughts about the angel of death and passover! That's a really interesting thought! Also man...I don't know how it happens sometimes but I've been thinking for like AGES now, especially since Zuko almost got bonked by Zhao like, surely they'd have people be put at genuine risk and we'd explore loss but like...HOW? And then Yue just...peaced out like...what :') Alos Yue's sacrifice was beautiful, and her father's comments about her being the moon now just made me feel the pain even deeper like ughhhh every time the moon is out it's like his daughter is watching him from above :'') Agree with you too on what you said about the pacing at which stuff happens! I think I'm so used to anime where it builds for like 10 eps and then lingers for a couple but ATLA is I guess you could say...more 'realistic' in a way? It's a really cool thing to think about. YEAH FUCK ZHAO I HATE THAT BITCH LMAOOO (shout out Zuko for still trying to save him though, dishonorable my ass) The Blue Spirit theme playing while Zuko infiltrates the Northern Water Tribe MMHMMMM LOVE THAT SHIT also bruh Zuko swimming against an icy current in an enclosed space while holding his breath is crazy work 💀 I’d be dead ten times over “I wonder if anyone will die in this show” 👁️👄👁️ whoops 😀😀😀 no yeah Netflix does this weird combining episodes thing and I lowkey don’t know why they did that LMAOO some of the episodes in book 2/3 are just 40 minutes long and then you’re like oh! It’s just 2 combined 💀

Also Sokka is my fave out of the trio as well! (with Zuko as my favorite character in the show) (If you couldn’t tell by how much I’m like wow look at Zuko isn’t he neat 💀)

The Book 1 finale, especially when Aang goes into the Avatar state after the moon spirit died, still gives me goose bumps to this day whenever I watch it! I remember as a kid jaw on the floor, so epic!!
