Yeah fuck Jet 😂 I really don't like him either. I mean I get where he's coming from and funny enough he's kinda right since it's Zuko and Iroh of all firebenders but there's literally nothing for him to gain. So annoying. And that second episode was an absolute vibe. I really love those tiny little short storys for everyone

UGH ZUKO AND JIN MY BELOVEDS‼️‼️ also just saying but she DEFINITELY knew he was a fire bender after he lit the lanterns and just didn’t care righttttt rightttt Jin best girl rightttt (i scream as they drag me away) Iroh’s story punches me in the gut every time (side note but sometimes there are live orchestra productions for the music of Avatar and I just think hearing Leaves From The Vine live via orchestra would fix all of my problems /lh)

I think of it this way. Zuko has had his uncle guiding him all this time. Jet has been festering his hate alone until he found other orphans and created his team. Dude has been focused on one singular revenge goal. Ends justify means to him because he has had no one else to temper his hatred.

As far as Iroh's story goes, in the end it says "In honor of Mako." This was for his voice actor who died from cancer after he voiced this season, with this song being one of the last things he ever recorded.

Yeah this is the best point I think that can be made, man. You said everything that I’m trying to express but in way better words. Iroh has been able to be someone for Zuko to feel grounded in and shaped by despite all of the things that have happened. Jet hasn’t been as lucky. Which is where I was going with the whole “they’d be an awesome duo” because they are very similar but come from different extremes in how they were supported 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ and of course, I always remember they’re children too so shit is even more difficult for them 🫶

When I watched ATLA the first time I didn’t really like Jet. Now I understand him better. They’re firebenders so what? Imagine finding asylum with people made refugees from War and see a firebender hiding out among them. Yes his hatred does send him too far but it’s been 100 years of war. There’s a lot of trauma because of the fire nation. Add to the fact that we see Zuko and Iroh in a different light because the story follows them. I understand him but it doesn’t mean you have to like him. Just gives a different perspective.

and to add to it: Greg Baldwin, who voiced Iroh for season 3, to this day refuses to sing Leaves From the Vine when asked by fans, saying it belongs to Mako. The picture used for Lu Ten is also a recreation of one of a younger Mako

Jets such a good "love to hate him" character...up until he gets got and then you feel bad lol... You saying the kings a figurehead, I was waiting for the reaction when Katara says it too. There is no war in Ba Sing Se. Iroh and Momo's tales get me in tears EVERY time. And yes, theyre all fully canon. Zuko and Jin are so cute but yeah omg the secondhand cringe is so strong

totally. I get why he is how he is but he's just going about it the wrong way and just doesn't realize it or perhaps even doesn't want to... Like you said when characters make you feel emotions they're well written. Like Azula, she crazy and i hate her guts but a brilliant villain! I enjoy that I can't stand them lol
