Forgive me if I'm wrong (I very well may be because I'm not a manga reader!) but my understanding is that Mai didn't give Maki anything; she took her own cursed energy, along with Maki's residual (practically useless) cursed energy, and used her technique to make the sword before dying -- thus rendering Maki a person devoid of cursed energy and on par with Toji, who I do know was the only person ever to be born with no cursed energy whatsoever. Regardless of it all, amazing episode, I love my wife, [redacted]'s gonna have to share. (Unfortunately he can in fact fight, so I am politely asking to share lmao)

One thing I've seen across social media is people being harsh on Maki for killing Ranta based off of an offhanded comment Gege apparently made about him being "one of the good ones", so to speak -- to which I just have to say a) how "good" of a person can you be as a passive bystander to gendered / classist violence and mistreatment, and b) ...in beautiful irony, she didn't touch him. He took himself out via overexertion. 😭

I guess that in a way she gave her that! Like the act of her taking it all was only a gift that she could “give” Maki but at the price of her life. Amazing episode indeed! And thanks for clarifying some stuff too man haha! I think I just got swept up in it all!

Ooops replied to the wrong comment 🤣 Let’s pretend that one is for your comment below! And yessss totally agree! It’s funny how it was overexertion in the end. Ironic to the end! Her mother dying too was such a nice touch as well, I think. Taking out literally EVERYONE was just so insane to watch
