i loved this episode because we got to see song yan getting a taste of his own medicine in the end 😭 i was lowkey hoping at some point maybe he’ll realize and acknowledge how horrible and selfish he has been but even when yan zheng showed up, all he could do was look down on him because he didn’t know his true identity yet like BYEEEE best ending for this character fr. it really doesn’t hurt to be kind 🥲🥲🥲

The satisfying parallel of now Song Yan being called a jinx when back in Lin'an it was Changyu 😏🤌

I loved this episode! The Song Yan scenes were awesome and I loved Changyu basically putting the Emperor in his place.

LMAO during Song Yan's scenes, so funny watching him be obliterated bit by bit, quick karma. Cleverly written with Changu tackling the Emperor, again made me laugh. I love it's ramping up now and beautiful sets too. Sad it's near the end but can't wait to see the next episodes. Onwards and upwards

Finally, a satisfying episode, unlike the previous few where we are ragebaited and political drama

Loved this episode! Beyond the satisfying Song Yan moments and the hilariously strategic way Changyu kept turning down the Emperor (look at that character growth 😂), another small one: When they got out of the carriage to watch the fireworks, Changyu once again used the idiom “watching fireworks across the river” incorrectly. And Xie Zheng just naturally went along with it, immediately responding with something like, “Yes, why watch it from across the river?” He understood exactly what she meant and answered so effortlessly. It echoes that earlier point about why Changyu only really learns with Xie Zheng. He never makes her feel embarrassed for getting things wrong—he always understands what she’s trying to say and meets her where she is. Lovely! Thanks for another great reaction! Hard to believe we’re almost there already.

Song got what he deserved, Emperor put into his place, and we march toward the end

You are the first patreon account I subscribed to and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the chat on the live stream as well. I felt they provided some really great insights and perspectives, especially when it differs to yours or mines. Looks forward to seeing your reaction to the next episodes.

This is my favourite episode. Song Yang got his well deserved comeuppance and the emperor once again put in his place. You had mentioned that none of Grand Tutor’s schemes came to fruition. He is clearly not very smart. Remember in an early episode, Chancellor said that under the former crown prince, he and Grand Tutor Tao looked after internal affairs, the generals Xie (Xie Zheng’s father) and Meng (Xie Zheng’s maternal grandfather) looked after military affairs, and Li was just a jester? Li was never an important or gifted official.

Meng wasn't Xie Zheng's maternal grandfather. His maternal side is Wei. Wei Yan is his maternal uncle. Changyu's mom's name on the spirit tablet was Meng Lihua. General Meng was Changyu's maternal grandfather.
