It's sad, bc you'd think writers would be forced to push their boundaries and integrate ideas that challenge their own narratives and biases, but unfortunately there’s still something to be said for people putting out work that is simply relatable. Most liberals abdicate their novelty by never taking an actually intellectual high-road of attempting to integrate pre-feminist ideas. There’s usually a productive dialectic between the most “cutting edge” way of thinking and the things it’s reacting to. These ways of thinking wouldn’t be without their predecessors. They lose their positions of power because they do not attempt this, when they could embody the fullness of someone like a jesuit. By accepting the appearance of godlessness, they remain unoriginal and unremarkable There doesn’t seem to be any sense of irony, with the fact that by choosing their careers over their family, they are just as vacuous as an influencer who records every little thing they do. Those who identify more with the spectacle, i.e. their public image/reputation than the private tangible life
