I’ve been waiting for this one

Anonymous

Red scare + Lana = comfort zone

milo

NURSE COSTUME AGAIN? 😭

Anonymous

Thank god… needed this today

Anonymous

Finished the album literally 20 minutes ago nice

Anonymous

Omg yes the review I’ve been waiting for

Anonymous

anna was right, had to google john hinckly

Anonymous

Judy B was a teacher of mine in undergrad and wrote me a letter for grad school. She was always kind, clear, and authentic with me even though I’m white, straight, cis, male, etc etc. I’m glad RS decided to talk about one of her articles, but I think much of the discussion was grounded in bad faith assumptions. Butler has long been a forceful opponent of identity politics, contrary to the popular imagination.

Mike

There is no show I’d rather listen to…just keepin it 100.

Anonymous

The audio sucks👍

David Cox

Yes - too hard on Butler - gender is a class issue - class is gender

Anonymous

Why not engage with a more contemporary gender studies "voice" like Amia Srinivasan? Would be interesting to hear their feedback.

Ben Seales

Nice ep. I’m surprised at the Alex Baldwin he’s hateful take. I thought he’s pretty charming and cool (pre SNL)

Feenabobina

Another ballsy and amazing ep

Starry Pr1nce

🙄🙄🙄 cmon its a plodding stomp though a breakup or something i dunno i couldn't pay attention to the lyrics cause she didn't get up at all from the grand piano the whole time it was minor inversions and octaves she got it done in under 200 kcal

Emilia Tessaro

“lotta words blowing around” should be Dorseys handle

Anonymous

Only thing wrong w mx butler is their syntax

Anonymous

I thought the J Butt article was salient and fair. Also can’t get over the irony of RS calling people disconnected elites 💀

Doug Dee

There is a podcast called "The Lolita Podcast" - the author spends almost an entire episode complaining about Lana Del Rey and her negative influence. It's so over the top it seems a bit ridiculous.

Anonymous

Neo conservatism is a real issue in Europe. They’re not minding their own business like Anna says. They’re minding everyone else’s business. And it doesn’t end with regressive gender politics. The goal ultimately is to keep political discourse in check while massive corruption is happening

Brittni

Madonna's daughter's mustache didn't stop her from dating timothee chalamet lmao legend

S T

When this ep dropped I was crying on my couch because my best friend moved to Singapore yesterday and it made me feel so much better 😭

Volcan

Lana lets me indulge in a narcissistic melancholy too. And I'm a man. Listening to NFR, doesn't she recycle her melodies like crazy? Speaking of Antonoff, St Vincent got the better of him in her new album.

Sam

I’m impressed by how many different ways Anna can call Lana fat

rei

Gender.

carl

"death of a ladies man"--its the best Leonard album for those who don't like/think they don't like his work.

Listening to Leonard Cohen is the only way I can indulge my "male fantasy of [...] getting a Jew to invest my money"

Cynthia Hernandez

Great episode. Thank you for helping me verbalize these matters.

Luke

Yikes. Leonard Cohen *is* better than LDR. Sorry ladies – bad take.

Anonymous

Can't stand Judith Butler, this was music to my ears :-)

Matt Burgess

The last 30 mins of this is incredible, not one lie told

magnets
>>70824722

given the tenor re her in this ep I'd bet it's in the works

Ronny Graham

another classic episode - loved the take-down of Judith Butler particularly. Also I so love Lana who has taken her twitter down for some reason.

MYK’L ROCKS

Incredible an expected dull ep because of a Lame Lana review turns into a Butler Banger 🥰

Anonymous

I love this podcast and u 2, makes me feel less alone in this world!!! Thank u <3

Conor

I would not wanna be on dasha’s bad side🤣🏴‍☠️

Anonymous

I think of Lana del Rey as the Joni Mitchell of the 2010/20s. She is raw & accessible in her lyrics & songwriting but maintains a glamorous & mysterious image in the press

christo stefan

For gay and straights cop is the sexist Halloween costume. Beaten on til nose and gums bleed and having a gun smashed in you face while handcuffed. Ooh la la

Anonymous

I came for mediocrity but stayed for the light misogyny

Anonymous

Can we get a weekly Good Tweet Bad Tweet segment

Patrick W Bears

I’m convinced Judith Butler gets paid by the word. Never read someone as pointlessly wordy. Her run-on-sentences contain run-on-sentences.

Anonymous

So I wanted to buy some stickers from the merch store and discovered the delivery cost was going to be $90. to be sent to Australia. Now I would be more likely to be willing to pay nearly a hundred bucks if I thought you two were getting thethe lion’s share of it. But I don’t think that’s a reasonable amount for a 3rd party delivery company to deliver some stickers to me in an envelope. Anyway, hopefully you negotiate a better deal with another glorified postperson soon🙏

also dislike judith butler but it sucks to be trans and it sucks even more to be trans in an area where people are very vocal about wanting u dead. JB is a terrible writer but she is pure of heart and just wants to make the world more tolerable

Anonymous

my favorite red scare episodes are always the loose docket/pop culture/just hearing the gals discuss their favorite things/wammin/how they feel But I’m just a simple cute gal with big tits and a big beautiful brain.

Anonymous

"except for lana" bless you

Anonymous

listening to Dasha make herself laugh about JB was good here “tell a joke bitch” lol

Evan C.

Fantastic episode

Anonymous
>>70932059

Yeah also not a jb fan, also trans and not stoked on identity politics. But it’s kinda of starting to feel like they’ve found the like between ‘trans identity politics are not the hill we are dying on’ and ‘let’s scapegoat trans people’

Anonymous

Red Scare's appeal is the same kind of appeal as Lana's appeal

Anonymous

Glad to see the girls finally not tiptoeing around the trans issue. Forcing children to become a generation of infertile pharm consumers is not progressive.

Alice Jeong

i will never get tired of hearing u guys praise lana

quitrookingatmyqueen

The difference between male and female fantasies had ma belly laughing haha

izzy

gorgeous gorgeous girls love soup, soup girls are the most popular girls in the chicken coop

Lisa Vella

Ladies she's not from long island she's from Lake Placid in Upstate NY. It's a somewhat affluent (albeit for Upstate and not everyone there has $ necessarily) but it totally explains her love of nature and feminine ways. Beautiful place, beautiful woman.

Bill Duross

The podcast bold enough to ask: why *isn't* John Hinckley's music making a bigger splash in the broader culture?

Anonymous

One of your best eps yet. Y’all should stock more hat colors tho

Anonymous

omg PLS invite john hinckley on!!

kelsey

Ya'll need to publish more episodes.

David

Searching for their Instagram accounts has lead me to many boomereqsue accounts that can’t be right 😂

Garrett

The day this podcast loses the vocal fry is the day they lose my subscription.

Anonymous

'Tell a joke, bitch' is the best quip of this entire retarded pod. Well done.

Ronny Graham

Arcadia is a classic, the search for perfection is innate in all those lucky enough to not be for example the victims of forced labour worldwide. I think this song is a reaction to the entertainment industry's greed and exploitation, and the fact that this 'industry' is emblematic of The US and how those with power abuse people on the regular. And the last line is not just the answer to some crossword clue 'I'll pray for ya -But you'll need a miracle - America'

Anonymous

what youre saying about lana is exactly how I feel about her, there is something real and authentic about her. shes not performing to be liked, shes not a people pleaser, shes not trying to be popular amongst gen z, which is a first. she is who she is and it is so cool!

Anonymous

this one really devolved into hypocritical trash …. social incentives to transition?? your heads are up your asses

Anonymous

I love this pod but I couldn’t even finish this episode after the Judith butler shit started- how are they constantly criticizing people for living in an ivory tower and being sheltered from real society but claiming that being gay/trans is totally fine in the US? Maybe in nyc lol but it’s so clear that they live in a liberal bubble. love the Lana take tho <3

Iris
>>73240127

someone doesnt understand that women are being degraded to being called 'birthing bodies' while men get to take the title of woman. it is sick and will not last <3

Iris
>>75005872

the whole country is a liberal bubble babe <3 the fact that you have the freedom to even speak of trooning out to begin with is asinine
