We needed another opinion besides a Brooks Brothers suited grifter or a Fox putz in a plate carrier and a helmet

S T

Ladies so quick! I needed your takes and viewpoints before I could form my own 🙏

Anonymous

Anna didn’t seem to be buying some of this guys framing

Anonymous

Yoooo this guy sucks !

Derekino

tldr: they did it! the ladies have successfully ended the war

Anonymous

Anna asks a legitimate reasoned question about whether the invasion is “indiscriminate” and he starts accusing her of defending Putin. Okay…….

Anonymous

The guest is a PBS libtard

Knew he would get defensive because he lacks any objectivity on this topic. That was clear when he was working for vice. “Is NATO a hypothetical threat to Russia?” “I don’t think so”. LOL

Gay Tito

The problem NATO is just a disguised version of US sphere of influence . We wouldn’t be chill if Mexico and Canada squaded up with Russia. It’s literally the Cold War all over again sure NATO member states are independent countries but we ultimately know the US is in Military control. You can’t court every country around your enemy in a military alliance and expect nothing to happen.

Gay Tito

Also him throwing around the word imperialist and getting super defensive isn’t inspiring confidence in his argument.

Anonymous

What is it that seems so detached from reality? That she asks questions in earnest?

Anonymous

Wtf who is this assclown?!? If I wanted liberal talking points I would literally watch any other news source whatsoever. Real shitty choice of guest, ladies!

Gay Tito
>>78716172

I love episodes like this but I'm Aries, so I enjoy a little conflict.

Elizabeth

"I know that Iraq was bad not because I heard about it in social studies class. I saw the bodies with my own eyes." Anna: "Are you kind of an adrenaline junkie?" - - hahahhahahahahahaahhahahaa

Jacob Bucci

This is a testament to the ability of programs like vice pbs npr etc. to sear off all capacity for historical context. Dude was born in the union and cannot fathom why the wounded nationalism or the broken promises on nato expansion might have pushed Putin over the edge. The lizards who architected the Cold War would even be disgusted.

Anonymous

this guy sounds like an annoying brunch bottom

Anonymous

This is a one hour safari of shitlib takes from the highly respected and very serious newsman

Gay Tito

At first I was like this episode is gay. But now I realize it’s an absolute banger hood classic.

Cherry

He got so emotional when he thought Anna was defending Putin LOL pussy

Cy Hicks

Anna ate and left no crumbs

John Ellmaker

I didn’t mind a more serious discussion, it’s been a while. Guy is a tough nut to crack and he didn’t give up laughs easily. Back in 2014 I brought up the Budapest Memorandum to mostly deaf ears and I’m surprised it wasn’t discussed considering everything they covered. Regardless of disagreeing with some conclusions, this was a more interesting discussion than I’ve seen most have recently because of the details. Why should the US come to the defense of Ukraine? The Budapest memorandum which when I was a teenager was a big deal, if you didn’t grow up with the constant threat of nuclear war breaking out I get that this may not resonate too. No one is ever giving up their offensive nukes again if Ukraine goes down, and probably weren’t going to just because of 2014 anyway. That’s the one takeaway that’s certain

Nathan Hanson

Jesus Christ this dude is a condescending asshole. I actually liked his reporting for Vice and PBS, but ehhh… He just came off as such a douche.

Nathan Hanson

Like, the minute he said “conspiracy theory” related to Hunter Biden, I kinda got the vibe he wasn’t rly about to talk w/o the libtard pov

Volcan

This guy is a libtard waste of space. America did this like it does everything.

Gabe

A return to form!

Loving this spicy ep

Matt Kidd

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrMiSQAGOS4 Have professor Mearsheimer on the pod! He says that Russia would never let Ukraine in the western sphere of influence, and the EU and US lead Ukraine down the primrose path of trying to pursue close ties with the west. And that Russia would wreck Ukraine before allowing it to join the western sphere of influence.

Brittni

I was so looking forward to this topic's episode but this guest ate a fuckin dick, so disappointing.. wish Anna and dasha just freestyled solo

Kevin

I think it’s time to bring Steve Bannon back on.

Anonymous

Tomato tomato this guy is whack

Samantha J'Onze

Twice you asked this gentleman specifically what (more) the free world should do, and twice he did not list specifics. This guy is Jen Psaki and not up to Red Scare standards of straight-forward simple questions and discussion. But thank you Ladies—love and good wishes to you and any family and friends involved.

Anneliese

Ok ladies now do a Ukraine EP without this guy

Ben

This guest bloooows

Ben

I’m five minutes in and this guy is full of shit

Manny di Presso

I like how the libtard unquestioning position is NATO that is perfect and Russia is evil and any nuance means you love Putin

Ben

Much more interested in you ladies’ aloof meta analysis of the situation than this PBS dork

elize

No disrespect to Ostrovsky cuz he really has been with the shits but it's a bad faith take to suggest that Putin is an irrational imperialist for not wanting Russia to end up like Iraq, Syria, LIBYA or Serbia sorry bout it

Jonathan Davis

This guest was unfortunate, became a snark fest real quick.

Drew Cox

As soon as he went off on the “are we defending Putin” rant I’m pretty sure he’s too emotional to view this situation rationally. I think he’s useful but get him on with someone less emotional

Drew Cox

on a smaller matter. Hunter was paid 50k/mo for his services. Timeline is irrelevant - what did they get for their money?

Anonymous

I guess I feel like I’m having cognitive dissonance about Anna saying the protests in Russia are fake and gay. She doesn’t explain herself at all there—clearly to protest in Russia is a great risk of ones life and livelihood. I’m leaning towards the bitterness theory; that she can’t fathom anyone would do anything sincere or brave

jiggins

Smug midwits like this guy are just awful. True believers

Anonymous

love when there's some spicy conflict with the guests hehe beautifully handled and v interesting ladies (f in the chat for Anna 'Putin defender' khach ;) )

I mean I actually liked this guy

Radio War Nerd mentioned Mearsheimer too, he somehow flew under their radar till now

Samantha J'Onze

This gentleman wasn’t getting Anna’s point that America’s priority is our own interest—that it may not be in our interest to get involved. And Dasha’s point that we have our own domestic problems that take priority—like our own fuckin southern border. What’s so hard to understand about that?

Hicks

Does he think Burisma paid HB for no reason? What WERE they getting for their money?

Hicks

And that guy is a big pussy.

Mike

My take is that Simon is probably a little too buttoned up for this segment, but I still found it to be a good episode. Look the dude has credentials obviously, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing for there to be a disagreement on the overall narrative. I enjoyed Anna and Dasha’s commentary and I thought they were more trying to disarm any disagreements throughout the interview. I enjoyed it overall.

Anonymous

Ghoul. Absolute Ghoulery.

Drew Cox
>>78722584

True. This could have gone off the rails 20 minutes in but the ladies excellently de-escalated it. Could have been a disaster.

Dean Cooper

Should have just interviewed Adam kinzinger. Would have gotten the same analysis. Putin=darth Vader. Zelensky = Luke skywalker

MJD

So hard to listen to two utter fucktards giggle their way through their epically shit takes on the invasion. Guess what Anna, it’s not cool or intelligent to calibrate your entire political and philosophical outlook on the basis of being a contrarian edgelord. Add Dasha’s irritating-as-shit-laugh punctuating everything makes me want to punch my phone. Seriously, the moral pretzeling involved here is depressing.

Drew Cox
>>78723207

He literally can’t understand that. He also doesn’t understand what a proxy war is. Is ignorant of Nuland-Pyatt call in the 2014 coup. And worst of all is a binary thinker. To acknowledge that What Putin is doing is not irrational/unprovoked is not to “defend”or “excuse” Putin. ***edit. May have been taken in by a fake conspiracy theory about the call. Stand by the rest***

Thumperdinck

This guy is so full of shit. He’s either brainwashed or shilling propaganda for someone, because he is incapable of even attempting objectivity. Loving all the tossed of snark from Anna though.

Anonymous

Boring boilerplate NATO liberalism from a boring boilerplate liberal journalist

This guy is funking insufferable

“Why didn’t this happen under Trump?” “Because they were buddies” LMFAO

Pablockchain Serrato

Ladies - Scott Horton is the guy to talk to about Ukraine/foreign policy - he is a working class roots guy with a stunning, deep and anti imperialist POV. In 2018 Scott wrote: “Ever since Obama overthrew the elected Ukrainian government there in 2014 with the help of the "social nationalist" Svoboda Party and Hitler-loving Nazis, the Right Sector, later joined in war by the Azov Battalion. Trump sent them weapons.” @scotthortonshow on Twitter.

Changey

Was this for real? How come Anna is smarter than this "expert?" Why isn't he answering Anna's repeated question "what's Putin's motivation?" in good faith? The "imperialism" answer is ??? Putin has already told us why: NATO expansion. It does not matter what you and I think, it matters what *PUTIN* thinks. Why don't PMC's get this? Putin's POV *is his reality*, it's not "insane". Putin was in the East Berlin embassy burning documents as the berlin wall was coming down. This isn't a guy that looks on the dissolution of the USSR and the humiliation in the 90's (which NATO expansion was a symbol) kindly. Also China and Russia aren't friends or allies. At all. They'll flip on each other when their interests don't converge, not to mention Putin is afraid of Chinese encroachment on his weak western border that he knows he can't defend. The "nazi" comments are because the USSR starved/massacred Ukrainians. When Germany invaded Ukraine, many Ukrainians fought with Germans to repeal the soviets. FIghting along Nazis is why Putin calls them nazis. Shouldn't the "experts" know this, you just need Google. Finally, the normal "smart people" dismissing nuclear war need bigger imaginations. MAD only works if you want to live. People do anything when they're desperate and Putin not being able to hold onto Ukraine would be just as existentially threatening in Putin's mind as having a couple B2's fly over Moscow. If you're already down, why not take everyone with you? Less than 2% chance? Of course, but look at WWI: an incel loser kills Archduke Ferdinand and 5 years later 3 different European monarchies that had ruled for hundreds of years were deposed. Some guys storm airplanes with box cutters leads to Trump's election. Hitler doesn't get into art school and then boys from Ohio land in Normandy. The world is fucked up, anything can happen bro

Autumn

I can appreciate the guest’s passion and emotional investment in this issue, but he didn’t need to be so condescending and confrontational towards the ladies. For most of the episode all they did was ask questions, and he responded with attacks. I think it’s time for another Glenn episode.

Mateo Sánchez Fitzgerald
>>78721639

Thing is even in those conflicts NATO got involved mainly to fuck over Russia's imperialist interests in the Arab World and Eastern Europe. If NATO wasn't a thing or at least hadn't expanded eastwards Russia would be thriving in Eurasia the same way China is thriving in Asia right now. Not saying NATO is good is simply to point out this is a conflict between empires and the Ukraine has already lost in the great scheme of things, sadly.

n64jerry

Not even nuclear war could get the ladies to raise their voice ✨

Anonymous

It makes sense he worked for Vice, which has become the hipster furin cleavage site for the Council on Foreign Relations world view.

Samantha J'Onze
>>78727473

Exactly! Putin and Trump apparently had mutual respect which means peace. Peace through strength.

Anonymous

Is this guy a CNN contributor? Seemed a little bubbly.

Anonymous

Whatever, I got no problem giving AT and AA weapons to the Ukrainians. Every person in Ukraine who stands up and fights for their homeland deserves a Medal of Honor in my book.

Autumn

Also, I don’t recall Michael Tracey calling anyone a neoliberal shitlib (not saying he hasn’t, just that I never saw him do it). If anything, he’s notably calm in response to the absurd amount of vitriol that people throw at him on a daily basis.

Anonymous

If the girls were a bit more prepared they probably could have taken him on easily. It was hard getting through bc there were so many times they could have shot back at his bullshit and they didn’t.

Anonymous
>>78730618

A big one was when he mentioned the “Ukrainian Orthodox Church”. Sorry. But this is a made up church much like the Macedonian Orthodox Church. There are only a few legit sanctioned orthodox churches. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church was legit created a few years ago. The orthodox bishops signed off on it. It was crafted by US intelligence to create a schism in the Russian Orthodox faith. The Greek bishops were paid off and agreed to recognize it as legitimate. It should have never happened. You can’t just create new orthodox churches out of thin air. Clearly the US intelligence had other plans. It’s so clear if you have any type of critical thinking.

Anonymous

how does someone who can't disentangle rationalising someone's actions in a value negative way beyond just treating them a cartoon villain, from being a 'Putin supporter' have a career in this field lmfao what a corny clown

Didn’t even mention swift bank or energy.. best comment was Anna saying “great voice”

Miles
>>78728852

No. The pod doesn't have to be a substack-archipelago echo chamber.

Refreshing to have a well informed guest on the pod who puts the ladies in their place lol

Malika Nash

Oof. The girls have to stick to gossip. This was embarrassing.

Malika Nash
>>78716065

He just sounded frustrated by having to answer those questions. Imperialist is accurate.

Feenabobina

I don’t get some of these comments... He was the one that was (more than a few times) engaging with their questions/points in bad faith. You don’t have to agree 100% w either side, but I think they kept their cool and the notion that they were intellectually outmatched is objectively untrue 🤷‍♀️

Anonymous

I keep waiting for Simon to shout "IT FEELS LIKE IM WATCHING CLUELESS"

Anonymous

A lot of you all probably don't know that Simon was basically kidnapped by the pro Russian forces in eastern Ukraine in 2014 when he was reporting as a journalist. He was released in a prisoner swap. I think he knows what he's talking about lmao.

Jane Oslo

I understand why bullying is fun. Thanks ladies. A nice break from the shit storm of west takes

Neba Jorgacevic

Simon Ostrovsky is a media reporter, he has his audience what do you guys expect? Ladies are provocateurs, par excellence, so it was an interestong mix. Soul searching stuff, good episode.

Anonymous

Why was this ill tempered adult male (presumably in the presence of two petite women and a baby) so eager to gloss over Biden firing the Ukrainian prosecutor that was investigating his son’s corrupt gig? This guy even laughs at his own inability to address it. Also Hunter Biden’s laptop was a legit story that was dismissed as Russian propaganda to influence the 2020 election. They impeached Donald Trump over much less. We all remember the perfect phone call. Anyway, libs brains are broken. Nothing new. Good push back from both of you. Having an adversarial guest was refreshing at least.

Steve Ray
>>78737837

Bullying is the sport of all humanity, for Mankind and Waaahmin alike.

Steve Ray
>>78727999

Trump sent them weapons? Trump couldn't do anything the State Department didn't approve of, so much so that Lt. Col. Vindman filed a whistleblower report based on debunked, false claims, rather than allow Trump to receive third-party reports about the,Bidens' activities in the. Ukraine.

I knew this Simon dude would be annoying just by the tone of his voice and the pace of his phrasing.

ssj

Wow ten minutes in but this guy is very low-IQ

ssj

Wow this guy is fucking pathetic

grodius

his sincere professional analysis that “putins a mad man” lol

Ben

Finally listened through and the guy ended up making a few decent points that I wasn’t prepared for. Luckily, he would always immediately step on them by saying some banal crap like “Ukraine is a free democracy.”

Anonymous

His point about the girls not recognising the agency of Ukraine is crticial. Ukraine is asking for help, America isnt forcing itself on Ukraine. Im from Lithuania - we want the support of Nato because we know what the Russian govenrment is capable of, not because the US has brainwashed us. The naivete of the girls is just heartbreaking.

Anonymous
>>78747256

Well. Do people have agency when it’s a proxy war? Seems to me that both the US and Russia have used propaganda in Ukraine to push their own agenda. We all want to think we are independent thinkers but most of us have definitely been brainwashed. The US is capable of the same evil as Russia. I come from Greece. And if you read up on the civil war in Greece looks a lot like the situation in Ukraine. Basically a proxy war.

^_^

This guy fucking sucks

Anonymous

Ukraine was an ally of Germany in WW2 and invaded Poland. Ukraine and Hilter were friends so… this guy is forgetting a lot of facts. Painting countries as “the good guy” is propaganda at its best.

sophie

Really great ep with a well informed guest that checks the ladies who do be saying some random ass shit sometimes

Anonymous

did he miss the 2014 coup?

Miles

Ostrovskiy may be a flaming lib but a lot of your faves really ate it this week. At least Tracey and Taibbi admitted to shitting the bed - Glenn spent 90 minutes on stream whining about Tulsi getting ratioed on twitter.

Anonymous

Simon Ostrowski is deranged in my opinion. For example, his peremptory declaration that Russia will not use its nukes if we get involved in the conflict. Typical lack of imagination, look in the mirror attitude that will get the world in trouble.

Anonymous

most naive thing in the world to say the average russian citizen should feel partially responsible for allowing the invasion to happen smfh

Stop calling Ukraine, ‘The’ Ukraine that’s been a talking point for ages now.

>>78736764

As others have pointed out, there’s been a lot of weirdness in the “fan base” lately, especially on the subreddit. There’s been a huge influx of suspiciously young account commenters and a bizarre and increasingly not-so-subtle tone shift that is hard to articulate. For a sub in which the majority of its user base doesn’t even listen to the pod anymore/never has, the Anna and Dasha hate has been off the charts and the comment threads feel eerily awry. Are we being astroturfed? Invaded by bugmen? What is going on?

NiceNeverKnowingU

I partially disagree with some of the takes here, however I do feel like many of the takes are directionally correct. I warmed up to this guy as the pod went on and at the end I felt that this was actually a damn good interview and way more worthwhile than I was thinking it would be. I’m a recovering libtard and I’m sure I’ll always have some libtard in me as I’m a young urban dwelling individual. Hearing this guy speak is like listening to myself talk several years ago. This chap sees everything through a childish moral lens, instead of just accepting things as they are without the additional value judgement every step of the way. Sometimes he speaks like a pre teen in a social studies class, which was so ironic to me when he mentioned social studies. I laughed. But not with him. At him. The problem with him and with my former self and with most libtards is that at their core they’re kinda just childlike control freaks. I absolutely detest Putin’s invasion into Ukraine! I fucking hate it! I’m no fan of war. But I still want to know what’s in Putin’s head and how he’s justifying invading Ukraine. I’m almost 1000% sure I would completely disagree with Putin’s reasoning and I’m sure most of it would be lies and gross exaggeration. But therein lies the problem for true believer libtards. They despise the word “almost!” You can’t be saved by God if you only almost believe. And with them I’m no longer clean if I only almost swallow every pill whole. 99 out of 100 is no bueno! No matter what is in Putin’s head, I still would NOT want him to fucking invade Ukraine!!! And at the same time I still want to hear some analysis other than he’s a madman or he’s insane! Seriously grow the fuck up! Dipshit “news” types are resorting to the madman dialogue because if they lay everything out on the table they’re afraid some “misguided fools” won’t follow them off of whatever dumbass cliff they want us to jump off next. They fucking got us to go along with them hanging Saddam not all that long ago in this same type of way. Also, I thought this dude was harmless until he snapped at Anna and asked her, “Are we defending Putin here?” Fuck No!!!! Not even anything remotely near that. What a fucking dweeb yo! That motherfucker would report your ass to HR for donating to a cause he was told he shouldn’t agree with, without even actually knowing what the cause is, or some stupid shit like that. I’m glad Anna and Dasha kept dumping cold water on his head every once in a while to snap him out of his neo-lib trances that he would slip into. And then when Dasha asked why Putin didn’t invade Ukraine under Trump, this fucking cornball just gives this goofy giggle and says because they were buds! What???? That’s it?? That’s the answer we get with the “adults” being back in charge? That’s the analysis we get from the PBS “eliiiites?” That’s fucking it???? I would actually love to hear some thoughtful analysis on that question from someone, anyone. But I guess once again people might only almost agree with them. Almost! A control freaks worst nightmare. At the end of the day America’s factory settings are libtard. We all have it deeply ingrained in us. And to be honest I’m fine with a nice amount of libtardation lol! But I can’t swallow it all! No can due. This dude needs to fucking grow up and live in reality. If his specific ilk are next up in charge of this country after the boomers phase out, this thing is over! They are not serious players. They’re adult children who hide under their bed when faced with uncomfortable truths. Or they just say “he’s a madman” and “they were bros lolz!” All in all he was a pretty good sport and he only got uncomfortably chippy maybe 4 or 5 times or less. That’s actually pretty mild for a full on libtard. And I love learning about how all sides and each corner of every crevice of the political spectrum processes events, especially huge geopolitical events. Morality is a wonderful virtue, but it’s not the end all be all. I’m more interested in knowing the truth! When “morality” is separated from truth, things get extremely hairy, extremely fast! Then it’s every man for himself! Just give me the truth. That’s all I need! Sorry for the long take you Gorgeous people! I chopped off a decent amount believe it or not.

”There won’t be nuclear war because that would mean you die as well“. Oh wow who knew? Guess we can stop worrying about nuclear weapons altogether now.

I’m more sympathetic to the ladies pov but this comment section is being so dramatic and whiny. The guy was just arguing his side and probably felt outnumbered and thereby defensive while talking about a super sensitive subject which, yeah, led to a few kinda knee jerky emotional moments from him. But over all I thought he was pretty cool about everything, especially considering he works for PBS where I imagine you run the risk of getting fired for stepping too far out of line on something like this. I feel like I have a healthier perspective on the situation over all after listening to the back and forth. Good ep imo.

Putin doesn’t have fillers, he’s just been having too many seed oils which is also causing a war in his mitochondria

ostrovsky should really check his testosterone levels because he’s the most erratic and biased guest i’ve ever heard on this pod tbh

Ronny Graham

**This site is hacked**, I came on for the first time and I have apparently 'liked' several negative comments that I had not. Notably I had to 'unlike' the MJD 'So hard to listen...' one several times, every time I refreshed comments, I had apparently 'liked it again'. Good work Anna and Dasha.

Heavenly Father69

I love the pod. But this episode sucks. The maximum depth of these two are spot on cultural takes, specifically about the vampant perv nature of the left. But this guest is speculating about the origin and resolving actual human suffering, real live adult angles to a geo political situation that only broadly touches them in their cultural origin and their horrid laughing, obvious discomfort with content that requires them to stfu and have think of the complex needs of humans outside of fucking seed oils and fillers. I would call this episode a total embarrassment. Their snarkiness cannot hide how bought and sold these two bitches are bought by whichever right wing think tank they currently work for see: Eli. Whatever. God forbid they acknowledge that daddy Putin is a monster. Let me summarize this show: Two super smart shallow as fuck twats who have a folie a deux daddy fetish and get wet when powerful white men demonstrate protorape/colonial grooming behavior. Your fathers are dead. Your worship of their metaphorical ghosts only tortures your inner conflicts that you remain in grief, still whorring. That said, I think Dasha and Anna are admirably courageous but too immature, too less than zero, too real lfe Easton Ellis, to see the harm of their contrarian ideology both to the world abroad and to their own personal lives.

Nolan Sordyl

They discredited this loser in the first five minutes with the Hunter Biden stuff and then multiple times throughout the conversation he contradicts himself, though my favorite might be his whining about how Taibi hasn't apologized to him personally for calling him a neolib and then in the next breath saying he doesn't care what people say online. Just ultimately can't take anyone seriously who can't even fathom that Russia/Putin could possibly have their own realpolitik/practical motivations for acting one way or another, not that you have to agree with or support them, whose "insightful" analysis is as deep as "Putin is a madman". His whole issue with US wars in the middle east is apparently that it damaged the US war machine's image enough that Russia felt free to take military action in their own backyard again, dude just wants Pax Americana US hegemony forever.

🙄🙄🙄🙄 it's too late for Ukraine, the civilians should do their best to stay out of the way of bullets and tanks, drag their feet if they are conscripted. It's fucken insane that there was not already an actual federal system for all of west Europe after the war and then the rest of it after the fall. Make the dividing line somewhere in there and let everyone choose their side based on their skull measurements. The west tried to snake their way into Ukraine but it's lost now, there's no advantage for Ukraine on either side. It's GoT not HP obv.

I predict this war will end in The Ukraine being split in 2 (the Western side and the Eastern side) OR in nuclear war, and I sure as hell hope it’s the former- so that the US stays the only country EVER in the history of the world that used nuclear bombs to do something or another. Or maybe for other, more personal, reasons.

Jonathan Davis

Can any of you gays I mean guys tell me how this is all trumps fault because most people I know seem to believe this.

Anonymous

I stopped reading at his single. Googling what he looks like now.

NiceNeverKnowingU

Yo I wonder what Zizek’s slobbery long winded hot take is on Russia invading Ukraine. Actually he’s probably pretty worked up about it! Poor guy.

Anonymous

Can this man whom doesn’t understand jungian sides of things be nicer to these ladies

Anonymous

Ok no seems to have brought it up, so….fuck it, I’m just gonna say it. Calling India ‘openly in support of Russia’ is deeply inaccurate. USSR/Russia has been a long-term, consistent ally of India, supporting the country at a time when US and other Western nations acted against its interests. It did not make sense to alienate a historical ally for an absolute flaky one like the USA, especially in a voting scenario that was frankly inconsequential. Meanwhile, had India voted against Russia, it would have had to face increasing hostility in the form of Pak-Russia and China-Russia alliances in the region. Nevertheless, India has been extremely critical of Russia’s actions in all its statements. All of which can be found by doing a simple Google search. Blanket statements do not do justice to nuanced issues.

Ostrovsky went wild on this one, absolutely seething.

Obviously he's never heard of NATO's intervention in Kosovo.

This ep is like the time Joe Rogan had Neil DeGrasse Tyson on and they spent the entire episode debating how we know the moon landing is real

Anonymous

Dude turned into a totally breathless bitch at the 20 minute mark lol

I’m halfway through. Do they ask what he thought about The Scary of Sixty First?

Had to look this up since it was mentioned, seems about 5.1 billion spent on Ukraine from US since 1991.

Simon is hot.

Just finished. Just surprised that no one tried to blame this on seed oils

ty for having this neocon on so i can laugh at him!

I’d rather listen to Zizek’s awful mouth breathing and incoherent speaking than this retarded journalist lol

lykeomg2themax

dude was dorky lib for me but enjoyed the ladies take of course

I love how everyone's going around and around about how bad Russia is killing innocents for economic gain/having more power. And yet here we are in the United States doing the same thing. JESUS CHRIST DUDE. WE'RE NO BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE. Ty for the infuriating volley of questions ladies.

Luke

Loved this ep (guest included).

god this dude sucks so much. good job girlies. okay I had to turn it off at the 20 min mark because of how bad he was but I'm glad you pushed back on him at least?

This guy is such a fucking idiot. All he knows how to do is moralize like a cuck

DW
>>78796185

What you've written is obviously true and should be apparent to anyone even basically aware of post-WWII history, or even someone who took a few minutes to read the Russia-India Relations article on Wikipedia. But the fact is that most libs and neocons literally cannot even think critically at that level. They're severely a-historical and incapable of processing such things

DW
>>78836567

That's a tough, tough choice, but I have to agree. You should also remember tho how much spit Zizek produces, the lip smacking, the constricted throat/vocal cord screeches and pops, and the repulsive nasal sounds. It's so much more than just the mouth breathing.

DW

I think Dasha actually shined in this one. She's such a natural-born populist, and an instinctual American patriot, without being annoying about it or forgetting the complexity of the issues. And I love her for that ❤️

George Quartz

This backs up at least a couple of A&D’s points, as well as my own feelings regarding the guest ‘journalist’ and his lack of nuance or objectivity: https://youtu.be/595Esg6Mz0U

Yeah, it’s not like Simon Ostrovsky has ever seen this situation in-person, on the ground before

Anonymous

Good ep, it went both ways imo. I have some respect for Ostrovsky for his reporting with Vice News during the Crimean conflict (“Russian Roulette in Ukraine”). Given his experience of being held hostage by pro-Russian militants in Ukraine, he’s obviously biased, but not for the reasons these uncritical fanboys are whining about.

Tim Molloy

I can't Patreon this anymore. The empty jokes as this legitimate expert tried to present facts coolly and rationally were petty and snarky — and I use that stale word deliberately to match the staleness of the presentation. This and Anna's ludicrous take about the Holocaust getting too much attention a few weeks ago have made me lose my former enthusiasm for this vacuous exercise. One reason we learn so much about he Holocaust is so we can recognize when to take a dictator's power grab seriously.

Enrique

you made Simón uncomfortable many times, great job

Anonymous

OMFG. This dude is so fucking stupid...explains a lot about journalism these days. Poor Dasha. She was completely right about NATO. As someone with a military background let me tell you what's going on. Yes putin is 100% rational. He wants Crimea, land access and control because it is Russia's only warm water port and provides direct access to the Mediterranean. Losing Crimea is an existential and legacy threat to putin and Russia. Turkey is only in NATO so they can close the black sea strait in the event of war, this is why Russia helped Syria in exchange for a naval base on the opposite side of the strait. And yes he will take all of Ukraine if he can because he needs a buffer against Ukraine but also a place to launch an offensive against Europe through the mountains when WW3 comes. It's all geography. And yes WW3 is coming, Russia and China are just setting the stage for it. Everyone knows about the Thuclides trap. But more than that you are seeing the opening shots of an economic war, Russia has been dedollarizing quickly and intently for the last decade. China has positioned itself through a trade surplus and massive gold reserves [not to mention oil (oh wait Russia too)] to make a run at the US petro dollar when they un-peg the yuan from the US dollar.

Anonymous

With the dollar inflating and our economy weakening sanctions are only opening our own wounds wider as we cry out at how powerful we are because look at all the blood.

Don't know about fillers on Putin...he looks more menopausal. The loss of testosterone is making him bloated and paranoid and diabolical.

Anonymous

Ffs this guy's black and white thinking becomes incredibly clear near the 1:19:00 mark when he tried to extrapolate that both Anna and Dasha are somehow pro-Russian invasion when the topic of interventionism was brought up. I even groaned out loud while listening to that part because of how incredibly dense he sounded. And he unconvincingly tries to justify collective guilt/punishment at one point.

Anonymous

Doesn’t Russia want Ukraine’s ports? Idk why he didn’t bring that up when asked why Russia wanted Ukraine

Damn my girls didn’t let me down

wiki>ukraine>etymology> “During most of the 20th century, Ukraine was referred to in the English-speaking world as "The Ukraine"[18] as the word "ukraina" means "borderland",[19] and translates literally as "the borderlands", similar to "Nederlanden", meaning "low lands", when it is translated as "the Netherlands".[20] But since the country's independence in 1991, the use of this term has become rarer, and style guides advise against its use.[21][22] According to U.S. ambassador William Taylor, "the Ukraine" now implies disregard for the country's sovereignty.[23] The official Ukrainian position is that the usage of "the Ukraine" is incorrect, both grammatically and politically.

Whenever I hear baby Lenny in the background I think my son has woken up haha took me a minute to realize it was coming from the pod.

Dave

Just because Dasha and Anna are sympathetic to the west’s involvement and provocations in Ukraine obviously doesn’t mean they are pro-Putin or cool with war. However, at the same time Simon is not dumb for pointing out Russia’s involvement, and importantly Ukraine’s own agency. Americans love to think other countries don’t have control over their actions. That being said, Putin invading Ukraine is an insane move that I think we should all be able to condemn. And that doesn’t mean we should go to war either. Situation is messed up. The alliance between Russia and China is real as well and people need to see this isn’t just isolated from the world stage.

this didn’t age well 5 minutes in - the guy says it’s not going to be ww3 or a nuclear Holocaust. Well….

Anonymous

This man loves to say “so YOU think… (insert bad faith interpretation)” followed by… his credentials (the amount of dead bodies he’s seen.)

Anonymous

This man is seriously underestimating the agency any American or Russian has over what their military does. He’s also failing to acknowledge the depths to which both Americans and Russians are brainwashed by their media into consenting to the actions of their government. He’s also not really addressing the fact that most eastern Ukrainians are Russian, speak Russian, and are pro Russia.

Anonymous

Geez the white knights really get riled up when a guest pushes back, huh?

Anonymous
>>79046470

He works for PBS, do you understand that he is NOT the one pushing back? Must be fun to be so hungry for clean air that you smell farts and think it’s roses.

Anonymous

The way Anna and Dasha don't react to Simon's insecurity in conversing with the politically different and instead help him to reveal the best conversation between them possible reveals their true professionalism.

Anonymous

Simon’s dimwitted groupies coming out of the woodwork really lowered the quality of the comments this time around. Y’all make me grumpy, why can’t you stick to your FB pages and Tumblr or Reddit or wherever the fuck you hang out when you don’t watch PornHub

Anonymous

can we get another ep????

Peter Drozdov

Wow this was difficult to listen to. Its Ostrovski's full time job to shit on Russia, and hes so baad at it. Its like his brain goes into convulsions once hes asked to be more than a wind me up anti Russian puppet, and elaborate past ' Russia is evil Putin is the devil' , its like hes thinking 'but...but...I was born there and Im saying theyre all fucked... you need me to say more words? ARE WE REALLY DOING THIS RIGHT NOW?!' Hes never had an original thought in his whole career, but dutifully being his bosses mouthpiece secures him a place at the table, my Good what a boring transparent loser. Anna and Dasha dealt with him well whilst making sure they dont get cancelled.

Anonymous
>>79067096

So, they could have pushed back but didn't because they're concerned about getting canceled? Is that what you're saying ?

Peter Drozdov

Yes. Thats clear. You can tell all the ummm's and giggling in the background is them frustrated and cencoring themselves. Playing hardball with this lamo would mean no acting jobs for Dasha, and losing a means of support for her newborn for Anna.

Anonymous

How long before we start hearing about internment camps for US citizens with Russian sounding last names? (or first names; or just Russian looking faces; or maybe just randos who might be suspected of pro-Russia thought crimes - maybe someone heard them saying out loud that one time that they preferred the other vodka) Or are we thinking that this Situation - in the average shit-for-brains American mind, that is - calls for internment camps AND a Guantanamo Bay redux?

Anonymous
>>79108300

Actually, quite agree with you on this. Banning Dostoevsky, vodka, and Russian movies is fucking retarded. I mean RT is retarded as well, but I don't think it should be banned.

Y'all should really make this one public. Thank you for having him on. Every dipshit thing y'all said he had a good reply to.

Edward

What if, and hold my beer, Biden had intelligence that said Putin was intent on invading Ukraine and then, Putin did it? Crazy, I know right?

Edward

Like, the argument against that is basically, Russia had no plans of doing that and decided to do it out of ass nowhere, when as a matter of fact, there's an entire world of intelligence full of the most involved people in a conflict that's been going on for like, 80 years?

Edward

Like, fo you think that they hit. Reset button every week regarding the cold war?

Anonymous

listening to simon ostrovsky categorically say that there will be no nuclear threat from this war and that it will never happen as a result of the conflict on 5th October 2022 as Putin mobilises nuclear military equipment to the frontline and is making increasing threats about nuclear consequences for Ukraine. . .

Anonymous

simon: when your answer to ‘who’s at fault for every bad thing that’s happening in the world’ is always the same answer, then that’s not accountability. dasha & anna : it’s Russia. . . right, it’s [always] Russia that’s to blame
