Author Sean Thor Conroe stops by the pad to talk about his new novel Fuccboi.

Comments

Gnome

This guy wrote a book? He can barely tal, and the mouth breathing is killing me. He's like the No Ragrets kid from We're The Millers.

payton

I heard this is where your decline began so i'm listening

payton

oh god the voice im not sure i'll make it thru this

payton

nah now he's breathing into the mic i'm tapped out lmao

Gabriel A.

Idc y’all, he’s so sexy to me

Brittni

another one already? Omg thank you!

Nina M

Aw he’s nervous

olethomass

Knausgård’s pronounced with a hard K

0_o

NPR meets BPD

John Ellmaker

Anna has a segment on breaking points today

SE

"stops by the pad" HAAAA woman moment. Also Bloobird was clearly first in line of anyone from the subreddit, please be respectful

Veronica

Hahah omg why does he sound so nervous??? I don’t know anything about this guy but it’s hard to not think he’s putting on a costume.

A B

Ugh I hate when they have guests.

SE

The ladies booted up the Rat King and it sunk in that he'd be heard by half the calorie-deficient women and gays across America

Nora

The fact he said “who’s that?” to Salome….and he loves Nietzsche supposedly…??

Luke

Homie sounds like a halfwit.

nicocat

Only 8 min in but hoping my last brain cell eventually regenerates enough to find out for myself wtf the deal is with this book

Torwissea

Man I should write a book

Raphael

So many negative cunts here already. Damn. Hope the girls are good.

Edward Miller

White Boy ̶S̶u̶m̶m̶e̶r̶ Semiotics

magnets

Sounds potentially like some sort of narcissistic parasocial relationship you think you're in here, where you want The Ladies all to yourself. Might want to ruminate on that, muffster. gl

Mervé Özcan

I wish he had more eloquence or at least made an effort to be more articulate in the way he speaks …he’s hard to listen to

Saskia

“Capricious little retards” - the way I snorted at this

MARGIE A ROSEBROCK

Really appreciate how y’all talk about artists feeling precarious and cannibalizing and accusing each other. Love to Sean

Luke

Okay, okay. This ep was rad and I ... just ordered the book. I rly dug how this dude conveyed his POV of the world/lit scene. TY ladies for having him on the pod.

Sam

Who is this weirdo he’s cringe

Meg

He sounds/seems hot

Sarah Stewart

This is what made think it’s part of an act, he also said what’s that ab another term he has to know and made dash’s explain. Wish they would have pressed him esp when he said he had an mfa

nicocat

As someone who also can barely verbalize a full sentence off the dome, I think this guy seems sweet and is probably just very shy and anxious. But it’s still hard to listen to. I’ll read the book.

Ronny Graham

I have read every word Nietzsche wrote at some time or another, I haven't read your guests book. You might have bothered to discuss your response to your guest's book and precise it to some extent before faking a know-it-all interview.

Sean M

Does this dude have a concussion or something? How does he write books when he can't even speak in full sentences?

HubbaBubba

Please don’t have guests anymore.

Jonny Debacle

Agreed Sean, this guy is aggressively inarticulate. Congrats to him for getting a book published. Damn the girls are polite.

Suj

Drink every time he says the word 'like'

James

“language should communicate as best as it can within a context. and i feel like there’s a lot of like supremacy of certain modes of expression that’s inherent in critiques”: when you have a thesaurus but also nothing to say

Speed Weed

Stopped @ 5:00 after reading your comment to go listen to that, good looking out!

S T

When D & A kept pressuring him to say he was indeed a wigger had me dying, “You’re wigged out, c’mon…”- A

yellowkid

Haters out in force. This was a solid interview and the fact that this many whiny people are paying to listen is funny as shit. If you hate what the pod is so much take your money elsewhere.

Tom

Like. Like, like

Jonathan Davis

You say autofiction, I say autofellatio.

VajraGaruda

It's painful in the beginning, but he does get his confidence. Give him a chance. I hope he sees a speech therapist to overcome his constantly saying like. You'd figure an author would be more articulate.

Ronny Graham

i managed 25 minutes, the girls don't always get it right, nobody does that, they're still the best podcast for me

Erin

Yoo Dasha's dating obeseretard?!

connor

sorry this man boring af

Mr. Mike Man

I assume his talking like Rue's dealer on Euphoria is some kind of affectation, a keeping of it real

Maddie Nichols

he seems sweet!! why r y’all being dicks

Valentina

sparing myself from another guest episode

Sarah

he’s a retard

mckayla

Excellent episode also he has a sexy voice

cobweb

I loved the chemistry, especially in the geisha moment.

emf 303

Couldn't get through this one. Sorry ladies. It's kind of amazing that someone so inarticulate makes money with their linguistic "abilities"

Ben LeBlanc

i really enjoyed this one. writer doesnt equal orator yall. there are some solid bits of wisdom in here.

Joseph

This was one of my favorite eps where they interview a guest and I open the comments only to see fellow listeners ripping him to shreds!

P

the people hating sound like virgin losers

JB

autoffectationboi

Anonymous

Omg he sounds so hot and nervous. Good job ladies

Calvin Cummings

A cathartic listen. Thanks for this ladies and Sean

Parker Otey

Exact joke episode. Well done ladies. Hilarious.

Couper Spark

I like when he.. like.. says like

Hiba Awan

All the things you said all the things you said running through my head running through my head

sophie

Matthew Davis 👀

J 0000

Does this guy complete a thought or sentence in this ?

J 0000

Like I just like I mean I guess like you know like I know like like I guess like you know ? ….This guy wrote a book?!?

J 0000

And like and like and like

angelina

bro is BREATHING

Samantha J'Onze

Had to abort at minute 22. Listening to this guy has my blood pressure LIKE soaring. Was so excited for a new ep but no. We need to hire a new guest booker or stick with just the ladies.

Nolan Parker

just read it, was happily surprised to find this pod. What I love about these ladies & this book is how they encourage & inspire me to do my thing & make shit. talk shit, etc. god bless.

Nolan Parker

also damn conroe breathes either very heavy or way too close to the mic. amateurism is so charming.

MATT LEGRANDE

This feels like college professors having a discussion with a 7yr old

Jonny Debacle

Please I got childrens, also I've seen more effort and preparation in prisoners picking up litter on highways.

Heather

Omg unlistenable

J

Dasha is developing a habit of cutting Anna off in the middle of an interesting point and rephrasing it in her own words.

Ben

Weird that this guy is so inarticulate here yet strangely compelling and I’m curious to read his book. Damn..

Tom

Can he just start and finish a sentence

Luzie Lonsdale

Pisces Venus is an excellent placement- that’s her sign of exaltation. Love you, but you need an astrology lesson.

Camille Rivera

Dasha drawling "a glock to your dome" is becoming my new ring tone.

Samantha J'Onze

Could have bought half a gallon of gas for the price of this episode. Let’s do better.

Eleanor Morris

20 minutes through and I dont think this guy has said anything comprehensible or interesting wow

sophie

Whos dashas zoomer bf?

sophie

All you hating are such nerds lmao

Miz Mak

51 minutes in he started speaking well. Maybe he was just nervous in the beginning.

Anna Alabama

Almost unlistenable. Gave up after 20 minutes

Kevin

He sounds like how I fear I’d sound in an interview.

SE

I mostly agree but Glenn Greenwald has great banter with them, that's the Red Scare I pay for (the humor)

John Ellmaker

Some of you don’t understand the struggles of being part Asian and hot

science

Dasha: Sean do you remember this book? [a million little pieces] Sean: huh? Nah… what?

Malika Nash

Loved most of this interview — pretty self aware. Until this moment where he talks about how surprised he is that the book got published by Little Brown without a problem. Wow! A white dude’s book about white dudes got published by a giant publishing house without a hitch? By the same editor who published DFW? Come on now.

Gianni Magna

Logo’s book is really good. It flies by. I would highly recommend it. It’s called Selfie, Suicide (or Cairey Turnbull’s Blue-Skiddoo)

Barb Fernie

I need a tour of Hokkaido can the japanese wigger w the book and the sexy voice pls DM me

George Quartz

Can the ladies please just get Eminem on already?

DW

He's giving me major Buckwild from Flavor of Love season 2 vibes--sort of entertaining but definitely playing a character or at the very least laying it on VERY thick.

DW

K--what is the supposed struggle? Not being able to say the N-word with impunity?

Blake

Remember when talking about literature made you look smart? Halcyon days

Elizabeth M007

Have Sam Pink and Ariel Pink on show at same time talking beefs.

J

I’d never heard of this book, Sean Thor Conroe, or Sam Pink before, but I listened to the interview and thought, this guy sounds like an affected fuck. So I read the Sam Pink review of the book, and realized it’s already well-known about him. Sam also writes that Sean is a ‘weasel’ and manipulates for sympathy, which sounded right to me, having thought halfway through, is this guy trying to whip up tears? Seems to me he used Dasha and Anna’s female traits against them, because he’s the exact kind of fake and gay figure they’d be shredding in any other episode.

elliott

some writers are this way. he reminds me a lot of tao lin, another auto fiction writer. in this circle it is acceptable and maybe even encouraged to be weird and socially awkward.

Bill Duross

I won't say I don't understand almost everyone's criticisms here, but he seemed like an alright guy. Nice shout-out to "building romans." Somewhere in the Sopranos Dr. Melfi talks to Tony about "amour fou." I think Tony's take-away is "our mofo." But I wish everyone could have finished a few more of their sentences. I wanted to hear what Richard Ford said in that MFA program class. Now I'll never know.

margarita

Confirmed Moon and Mercury in Aquarius. Baby can’t get those words out. Will definitely read the book though.

Az

Dasha may be anorexic but she chewed the fat with this guy

milo

he sounds so dumb and hot but he’s kinda smart he’s just like me

J 0000

If paglia isn’t the next guest I’m unsubscribing

David Nepsky

Honestly he is a horrible guest. He can't articulate any of his thoughts! Even my mom screamed SPIT IT OUT !! 🤣

izzy

“i’m an aquarius but my venus is pisces” is the most fuckboy thing this man said

Madeline Swan

If you end up having to change the name of the pod because of Russophobia, Capricious Little R*tards would be another apt choice.

milo

on further listening you guys did him dirty as fuck by leaving in his deep breathes

Anonymous

THIS dude wrote a book?

Brooke Porter

What a himbo. Gives me butterflies

Aidan Davids

Really wanna hear what they have to say about the Kanye doc

Derekino

ep started cringe but ended based

Anonymous

This one’s as good as that performance artist who used to put yams in her vagina.

Changey

Ugh "The Rational Male" is pretty lame, though some narrow parts of it are brilliant. Still junk though. "The Way of the Superior Man" by Deida is actually good and is the only one of those PUA/manosphere adjacent books that's insightful.

ABD

My man’s horny breathing was on 💯

Masha

Dude sounds like Chet Hanks

Edward

Isn't this just what New York writers have always done?

Ini

he sounds like timothée chalamet if his balls dropped

Anonymous

Male vocal fry is a terrible thing. But he's more interesting than the lying liberal-globalist shill they had on before.

sophie

Lol a glock to ur dome dashas so annoying

oliver browne

Ferrrrrsure. This dudes a retard! Fun

Manny di Presso

The part where he said “damn” really got me

M

Everyone hating on Sean has never spoken to a millennial man in Brooklyn

Phoenix

Have no idea who this guy is. Was picturing him as Mickey Avalon, then he said he was half Japanese. Looked him up, he’s hot.

Ella Fink

Ive noticed ever since Anna mentioned the shift between older men with younger women to younger men with older women, Dasha has been stressing that she’s dating a younger man. I 100% support this and find it inspiring.

Brad Ferns

The definition of 'listen to this while doing something else'

olivia

This is boring.

Udi Henis

Have listened to every Red Scare podcast from beginning to end. This one however,I lasted 15 minutes whilst being generous. Perhaps a sign of the times, that a 200k advanced author cannot complete a sentence without the irritating and annoying use of “like”, and often more than once in one sentence… unlistenable.

Samantha J'Onze

That tracks. His problem is that pretty-privilege is neutralized on audio, so we are left with nothing.

Sadie

Just skip to halfway through. It does get charming towards the end

Jenn

Can the ladies make a book list?

magnets

This guy is cool. Buying the book. Keep the interesting guests coming, please! When is BAP going to be on?

Ben McAndrew

I’m glad his book definitely had dasha dying a little bit, a lot

C P

This guy's refusal to be pinned down on anything makes him vaguely insufferable. He should try to form a more cohesive and authentic version of himself, if he believed in himself and the authenticity of his work and self, he would be selling himself better. Be real and personable, boss.

012

Fuck this was a struggle

ssj

This guy sucks as did the pro-war tool Dasha babe have me on I’m a CEO and Army vet stuck in Romania for reasons unrelated to WWIII bitches love my voice

Emily Edwards

Heard him on another pod....and after hearing this, I'm wondering how much of the book he actually wrote.

Aurora

This was a roller coaster

Nicholas Wall

Uhh, like, you know, like I don't know like, like. Can't believe this guy can write a book using words with like, huh. Like total like waist of like time, like had to like uhh yeah like quite listen 15min in.

Dm

Are you the hot voice army guy from that one loveline

Anthony Punnett

“Everyone loves women but nobody likes them “ classic 😂

Dj Maurer

made my brain bleed

FlyingWaffle

I had to turn it off after a few minutes... the ladies and their guest seem to assume the audience already knows all the details and context around this.

Justin Smith

I, like, couldn’t, like, handle listening to this guy talk, for like, um, like, maybe ten or even, like, eight minutes. It’s a podcast… at least a minor level of articulation should be required.

shawnee

what the hell

rx Queen

i disagree he's shy and nervous 1st ten minutes, whatever, its your job to listen sharp and see what u can use instead of bashing a trembling voice bro

rx Queen

i love how this episode gets better and better with the wine

rx Queen

what about "everything matters im fucked"

Drew howard

finish a complete thought I BEG OF YOU

Ashleigh

I am fighting for my life trying to get through this one man

Matthew R.

As someone who grew up near 8-mile when the movie came out, I'm good on these types of white boys for the rest of my life lol

J

My IG was hacked 🥲 and the last story I posted was about listening to red scare 💔❤️‍🩹 am I a Russian influencer now?

madison

I liked his book. Following in the tradition of the beat writers, it’s alt lit for the common man of current moment— Funny/sad/self-aware/anti-obscurantist. Sean seems like a genuine person. I look forward to reading his second novel.

nbc

do Anna and Dasha both want to sleep with this guy or do they just talk to all guys that way ? And why is his voice quivering so much ? But enjoyable episode otherwise

nbc

Actually as the episode went on it sounded more like he wanted to sleep with them

james

When Dasha goes, “cmon...you’re wig’d out!” 😂

Marika

It’s hot when a guy sounds like he’s about to burst into tears?

Marika

They gotta starts getting better guests. This was an absolutely monstrous disaster

1986PorscheTurboCabrio

Maybe I should give him a chance and read the book but this dude sounds like a dipshit

andrea papapostolou

Literally couldn't finish. Finish a fucking sentence or thought just once. Ugh so bad.

Luke

I felt much the same way but ended the ep by ordering the book. He's more earnest than retarded.

gossamer

By the end of the episode, I just took all of his instances of “damn” and “fersure” as punctuation.

gossamer

okay surely I can’t be the only one who actually really enjoyed this ep?

Raphael

The girls need to post more often. So much to talk about!

Hilde Helphenstein

Love this pod and the girls, but he was unlistenable.

Christina

I love how this guy actually does sound like a bit of a fuccboi, it makes the book so much more authentic.

Paul Grace

It's a shame that the guy wasn't able to form a full sentence.

Ronny Graham

Get Michael Tracey on as soon as possible, cleanse yourselves

W

Why the fuck is he breathing like an inbred pug my god

Sybil Prentice

Everyones such a little bitch, bitching about “ums” and “likes”, y’all never heard yourself talk for 90 minutes likely. Also off the bat he has immunity to talk like that as a Fuccboi. Everyone’s hating (not having read the book) therefore not knowing context for his verbal affectations. I dunno everyone is so self righteous wtf, literally want to hear all of you talk for 90 minutes without likes, ums etc despite it not even being part of your literary style.

Sybil Prentice

It’s an ep that isn’t relevant for comment unless you’ve read his book

Sybil Prentice

“Code Switch” love it. Feel it. Live it.

Doug Dee

I think he's just extremely cautious about being pinned into some category.

George Quartz

I wish the guest interview would be just a portion of the episode and the ladies would stick to the docket otherwise. This would’ve been more listenable if the interview was a little more focused and going some place. It just sounded like everyone was huffing gasoline and trying to discuss books and art after a ‘Welcome Freshman’ campus orientation keg party. Also, I guess the single ep a week is permanent now.

Raphael

These two are taking the piss now. TWELVE DAYS!

Nicole

Are they hiding bc of the war or...?

Gay Tito

Release an episode the piggies are hungry

Rachael

Audiobook is incredible I finished in 3 days and can’t stop thinking about it so came back and was surprised by the comments - just bc this guys artistic vision can’t be encapsulated in a single pithy descriptor doesn’t mean it’s not valuable, in fact the book really digs into the ideas of the physical, the ineffable and the inadequacies of language. Y’all are really on Patreon privileging dominant modes of expression go read nyt

Rachael

Was also a fun experience to not realize he’s hot until midway through

Renaldo Sears Jr

After reading the comments I wasn't going to listen, but that was a surprisingly fun episode. Definitely gonna check the book out.

Eric B. Wertz

WOW this was tough to listen to. The first 22 mins was one of the most difficult slogs in podcast history. I gave up three times, but the alternative was seed oils.

Michal Towber

Why is he so inarticulate? Is his writing better?

Kenna

Makes me wanna rage how mean everyone is to Sean. Love him and can’t stop listening to this

Oscar

This guy's shits retarded

Hilde Helphenstein

He may be smart/good writer but the boy needs media training. This made my ears bleed.

Kalob

One of the best eps yooo❤
