the rain falls heavily tonight. on the eve of conflict between our families, you called, not for a truce or negotiation, but because you needed to see me one last time before everything changes. it's painfully ironic that, out of everyone in this world, we would be the ones to find comfort in each other’s arms. when you call, i come, unable to resist your pull, even though i know i'm walking toward my own destruction. now, lying together in the backseat of my car, beneath the old oak tree by the driveway, the house remains dark, but for how much longer? despite the risk, despite all the danger, i'm here with you. even if this is a mistake, it's one i'll always choose to make.
