late night drive for you (Patreon)

you couldn’t sleep tonight. you’ve been antsy all day long, anxiety, stress, life compounding with the fact that i’m leaving in a couple of days. so we get into the car and drive south down the 405. it’s late enough that the roads are empty, the city is practically ours. you’re sitting sideways in the passenger seat, your bare feet in my lap, my hoodie the only thing keeping you warm. my attention split between the road and you, my hand drifting off the steering wheel to run up and down your legs. my gaze turning sideways to catch you out of the corner of my eye. i don’t want to leave, i don’t want to go anywhere, but we’re not thinking about that right now. let’s just get in-n-out, sit up somewhere high and look out over the city, just you and me before we go back home.
