Pretty sure they called it "The Arcane" during season 1. Heimerdinger calls it that and also the cybernetic topside council member (RIP) refers to it as the Arcane when Jayce is being disciplined in like S1 Ep2 or 3. He says something about how the arcane almost wiped out his whole race. The arcane is the innate magic of the world. What Viktor and Jayce are doing is using technology to tap into the power of the Arcane. Typically it can only be tapped by beings who have a natural ability to manipulate that power, they call them "Mages". Allowing normal people to tap into it with Hextech is crazy and we see the repercussions of it. That being said, I have watched Arcane a dumb amount of times so I don't think it is weird to not remember every little scrap of info, especially when y'all are also reacting to it at the same time. Y'all did a good job keeping up with the show, some reactions I had to bail on because they were lowkey dumb. Amara was from season one, she is a part of the merchant nobility of Piltover. As far as we know she wasn't a member of the Black Rose, their leader is an ancient and powerful mage who has the ability to take control of people. I think they did that to Amara, hence why her last lines are basically taunting Ambessa that killing Amara means nothing, and at worst Ambessa just killed a member of the nobility in cold blood. Hence why she spins a cover up To hide that she has the enemy after her and also to hide that she killed someone prominent. The Kiramann key that Cait gets shows her the ventilation system that her family set up to help filter the poisonous fumes out of the Undercity. It is extra messed up that Cait using this new knowledge she has to deploy it as chemical warfare/crowd control in her hunt for Jinx. The recording you hear of her mother explaining that it was made out of compassion give Cait liek zero pause, she is obsessed with her vengeance. Hella sad. On the flip side it is just as crazy that Jinx, with no Blueprints of anything already mapped the ins and out of that same ventilation system and weaponizes it against the top siders.
