First lil sneak peek of what season 2 might bring

Yeah generally the jersey numbers are decided by seniority. Usually the lower numbers are for the older players. (In karasuno, #1-3 are the third years, #4-8 are the second years, and #9-12 are the first years) There are other conventions like having the #1 be the captain (like daichi and oikawa) and the #4 be the ace (like in seijoh and nekoma). None of these rules are absolute though, like in karasuno, our ace wears the #3 jersey. The only absolute rule is that the captain’s number must be underlined, to clearly indicate which player is the team captain.

Just be careful with the timing of when you watch the OVAs. This one is fine, because it basically happens off camera after the middle of season one. The next one overlaps events that happen between episodes 1-4 of season 2, so it might be worth watching after episode 4. The third one DEFINITELY DO NOT WATCH until after season 3. Lev's name is pronounced Lee-ehv, but since Japanese doesn't have a good V equivalent, they basically say Lee-eh-fhu. It means Lion in Russian, in keeping with the cat theming. If you think the game looks fun, it's an overt nod to Monster Hunter (which IS fun). Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise are the latest entries and you can check out demos for free.

Also worth noting, those are just practice jerseys. You'll see more of them in season two. Sometimes they grab their usual numbers, and sometimes they just grab whatever.
