Martina

Thank you guys, I love this album

Alice ⊙⊝⊜

Thank you 💗 please post the documentary J-hope in the box soon 🙏

belly

AGHHH YESSSS!!!!

Jimin Sara💜💜

I love your videos. I think BTS will perform at the MMA this year, and I want you to stay updated on the performances BTS has done. I don't think you've seen the 2014 performance, which is a battle stage with another group and is very iconic. And I don't think you've seen the 2016 performance either, which is where they are surprised because they won a Daesang for the first time. The link to MMA (Nana) 2014: https://youtu.be/fnjQB4xpYG8?si=aVBJlqJqClVs4nf7 The link to MMA (Nana) 2016: https://youtu.be/n4mZQkR62EI?si=-Lutreq4yHJj8Hyc Also, if you want, you can watch the behind-the-scenes video from MMA 2016.🙏🏼💜

Mbali Bhengu

Where is jk album review guys, I can not see it at all. Someone help plz 🙏

Carrie Crose

Please watch JHope at the 2022 MAMA performance by him🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

sara ♡

It's not out yet. I'm looking forward to when they react to it!

Susu

Omgggggg I LOVE this album, besides being really symbolic for opening the space for the boys' solo work and a new era, I love the originality and diversity it shows, not to mention that even knowing and seeing how talented Hobi is, it was amazing to see him take risks and bring so much musicality to his solo work. Definitely one of my favorites, it's an excellent album, thanks for that guys

Haley

Have you guys reacted to the more music video? It’s so good!

Bangrz 66

Thank you 💜💜!

Lauchimolala

Jhope is like the 5 vocalist, he has a very versatile and stable range, and in fact he is one of those who harmonizes the vocal line in some songs, and if this blew their heads, seeing him live is another level 💜 thanks for the reaction guys 💜 btw I’m going to see BTS next week on Madrid so I’m so freaking excited ✨💜

Al

you guys literally watched him sing equal sign live on lollapalooza and youre still doubting if its him singing. Great album, thanks for the reaction

Susu

Guys, remember that Jhope is a secondary vocalist, he is AMAZING, a real ace...

bee

This is in my top 3 solo albums by a bts member. It’s just sooo peak. Was praised a lot by critics too.

Armeen Afzal

Guys j-hope was supposed to be a vocalist at first. He even did bg vocals for spring day. So yeah, it is him singing💜

Anj_HOTS🥰

Jack in the box 🥰🔥🔥 can’t wait for j-hope in the box documentary, thanks guys

feyza

What if is my favorite

MorganxJKBias💖

Yessssss, thank you guys for this. Hobi is soooo talented, he can do it all, my favorite track from this album is Safety Zone and the singer at the end of it is Jaicko Lawrence I believe💜

bee

They’ll probably react to it right before or after jk’s solo doc 🙂‍↕️

Reeyu

Lovee album reviews!! Can't wait to watch your reaction for Indigo💙💙

aurora

Guys you’ve heard equal sign plenty of times between lollapalooza and his concerts yet you’re reaction is always the same and it cracks me up every time 😂

Martina

I'm loving Charlie's thoughts at the end of the solo albums btw!

Aabolee Mali

This album was such a surprise for us coz we got to see this very different side of hobi, other than the usual sunshine goofy style.

bee

Btw guys j-hope has always contributed his singing vocals to bts since debut, even if you don’t hear it too often. That’s why he and Jungkook are known as aces..they can both dance, rap and sing 💃🏻

Brooke

Uve seen jhope singso many times! 😭 even when performing this song!

Mara Eliza

Just want to say Jhope does background vocals alottttttttt. Also you guys have heard all of these songs, he's done all of them in his live performances.

Aaliyah Contreras

i love this album so much!! equal sign, future, safety zone are my fav songs by him on this album!!! his hope on the street album is my fav album!! you have to listen to it next!!

Dorihope

Thank you. Now you should watch his documentary too 💗

11 effy

agree with seb he's carrying himself so well

thvsblossom7

been saying this for years but hobi is a secret member of the vocal line 😌

Aaliyah Contreras

i’m pretty sure that the man singing the background vocals in safety zone is Jaicko Lawrence

gianella 🤍🧸

Guys it cracks me up that you dont remember reacting to equal sign from J-hope's concert and lolapalooza LOL. But yes, J-hope is amazing

Emma💟

Guys, you’ve heard Hobi sing many times 🤣 in earlier BTS albums, live performances, Lollapalooza, Tiny Desk,… he can do it all

flora

Seb why are you describing art - i.e. making music and expressing yourself - as a job that needs to be done 'in the best way'. If hobi wanted to express himself through singing he could and he would (and he does!) and all the members would support him too. Its not a competitive sport, lol. also he has sang in BTS songs before like spring day. hobi is an ACE there is nothing he can't do

Whits ⊙⊝⊜

Stay in your lane? Oh no. This album is about getting out of the box. He did an interview for this album (https://youtu.be/umSGz3WtLMg?is=-JWUysBx3kRhMvc1) which might help you understand “What if” and “Safety Zone” better. You heard live versions of these in his concert. Pandora’s Box mythology was the origin of his stage name.

JungkooksNose🌟

Guys, Jhope has the role of sub-vocalist, just as Jungkook has the role of sub-rapper in BTS. I’m looking forward to your reaction to Jhope’s documentary on the making of this album 🙌

lunar⁷

seb i get what you mean about j-hope and his vocals, but there's no reason to compare him to the vocal line. idk the "stay in your line" felt off but ig that's just me

leslee fears

thank you so much guys! this may be a longer video but i think you should really watch the Jimmy Fallon performance compilation video that they just released in honor of FESTA. It covers many performances that you haven’t reacted to and it’s such a great recap of their growth. Thank you!

zuzu(jks version)💜

saying stay in ur lane is crazy js my take, each member is versatile and presents themselves how they want in their solo music comparing them to the vocal line is so unnecessary because everybody has their specialities sure but it doesnt mean everyone has their own role and has to stick with it

C

Jhope sings a lot more often than you think , even in arirang and many other previous bts songs

Aya

The great thing about bts is that they’re all super versatile they don’t just stick to one thing, so the rappers just rapping all the time will never be a thing in bts because they don’t like staying in just one place with the art they’re trying to put out. BTS never compare between each others talent so why would we as fans compare on which place the members should stay in songs when they love to explore. Like the same thing with jk he knows how to rap so if he wants to rap in his song that wouldn’t be okay to say stay just singing because the other three rappers are better than him in rapping. It’s a talent in itself to be good in both rapping and singing and it would be a shame for hobi, joon, and yoongi to not utilise the singing skills they have even if it’s not in the range of the other vocalists. I would like to also add that this could go for any other thing you want to do in life, you should never not do something more just because someone else is more good at it no one should live life that way

Antoniya

I had to jump back on patreon for this Hobi reaction. This album is perfection to me thanks so much for reacting. I can't wait for the documentary and please also check out the Album listening party on youtube. Ofc the members were there and some of his industry friends.

Qwerty Keypad

Also V's? I don't think I've seen them react to Layover.

Gigi loves Jin

guys hobi is a sub vocalist and he has really good vocals, he can sing really well! you have seen him perform equal sign live, but you should definitely rewatch it!

Trini Sunflower 🇹🇹🌻

Guyssss 😂😂 jhope is the sub vocalist for bts .. you would have seen him perform this at Lolla and his concerts .. I’m glad his vocals are getting the reaction it deserves 💜❣️He’s amazing .. They all areeee 💜✨

tia

after layover, this is my second fav solo album by the members. i can never forget how gagged i was after listening to more the first time

!Yikes!

I don't really get Seb's commentary? his vocals get praised and he talks about how jhope shouldn't sing in bts? eh regardless, jhope has sung in bts before idk why he said that clear cut when hes heard basically all of the rap line sing in bts?

C S

FYI: they're all doing background vocals on their albums in different ways. j-hope in particular does a lot of layering and sounds/noises. At the start of BTS, he moved from singing to rap.

AnnieM

Love your album reactions, they are the best! Excited for more

Lisa

J-hope already sings in BTS. Seb needs to realize that not-Jimin vocals can still be fantastic vocals. All three rappers sing on the new album. J-hope has harmonies in One More Night that are just absolutely incredible. He has also said that a goal of his is to take vocal lessons and really improve his voice even further. You can't tell me that the person who sings THAT part in Wings with Jung Kook "can't sing in BTS." NO. Just NO.

Lisa

They HAVE seen j-hope in Lollapalooza and in his concerts. I have NO idea where this wacky line of thought from Seb came from.

gaby

i love jhope singing even though he isnt a great singer his voice is nice to listen to

Steph

Don't know why you're targeting his Jimin bias. He was comparing J-Hope to the entire vocal line and he didn't even say Jimin's name, so what is your problem? I don't agree with his commentary either. I think the rappers should be free to experiment however they want and increase their range musically. I love it when the rap line sings. No reason to target Jimin.

Steph

This album was at the top of my spotify wrapped the year it was released. It's what I put on when I just need to release my anger. I love it and it got me through some pretty dark times. Thank you, J-Hope. I'm enjoying the album reviews lately. I hope you watch the documentary soon! J-hope's ambition and artistry are no joke. Also, yes, from a frequent concert goer, J-hope's Hope on the Stage concert was one of the top concerts I've ever attended.

Steph

He has a great voice!

Steph

Have fun at the concert!

Ellie 🎀

Hobi sang on some of BTS’s earlier songs, and we’ve heard him sing live plenty of times. He even debuted as a sub vocalist. Even if he hadn’t, I’d still be completely on board with him exploring singing more

Alondra Villanueva

I'll listen to the album again on my way home haha, a little disappointed that you can't identify that he sings in Equal Sign... I mean, we reacted to the HOS tour like twice...

Fer

i'll always appreciate this album so so much. i love the songs, love the concept, love what hobi made during the promo era. he showed a version of himself (Jay) that is unbeatable!! watch his doccumentary next!

Fer

and there's still HOPE ON THE STREET omgggg this is completely different from JITB, he made this for a doccumentary of his dancing

Christina

This album is fireeeee! And seeing Hobi on his HOTS tour was an unforgettable experience

bowie is tired

everybody’s said what’s need to be said already, but seb that comment was not it 😭 hobi has amazing vocals and you’ve heard them before unknowingly apparently lol, also the point of music and art in general is to break out of conformity?

bowie is tired

just gonna add its okay to say his vocals aren’t ur fav or something you like, but telling somebody to “stay in your lane” is a teensy bit ignorant

bowie is tired

he redeemed it with his short analysis of What if tho

bowie is tired

i loveee charlie’s interpretation of Arson, and how he mentioned the soot left afterwards could be a metaphor to the impact left behind on the industry!

Landy Sykes

Guys, you've seen him perform =(Equal Sign), especially this specific part, both during his solo tour shows and at Lollapalooza too. You just don't remember, haha. In J-Hope Hope on the Stage Final Part 2, it shows up at 1:13:46 in your video.

Darley✌️💜

i love this reaction guys!!!!! i love when yall break it down like this :))))))

lexie

jhope is known to have vocals guys lol. hes the only one of the rap line that can sing.

lexie

actually back then jhope used to be nicknamed "ACE" bc he was good at all talents. rapping singing and dancing and best dressed according to the members as well.

jayjay ⁷

You’ve heard literally EVERY song on this album atleast once.. AND you’ve been constantly reminded MULTIPLE times that he’s a sub vocalist… I don’t know how you guys aren’t retaining this information, like I get it if you’ve only seen it once but it’s been almost like 2 years guys are we serious..😭😭

Isabel

I don't get Seb's comment about J-Hope's voice; maybe he doesn't remember all the lines J-Hope sings in BTS—for instance, he has so many in "Arirang." Personally, I love J-Hope's part in "Into the Sun." The same thing happened with Suga—*I don't know why people find it hard to believe that BTS's rappers can sing and do it really well.*

Antoniya

Finally finished the full reaction. Guys you've heard every song here before lol. I beg you to please dive more into Jhope because he's fun and everything but he's very serious about his work and his creativity and artistry is top tier. To really dive into who Jhope is i highly suggest his Jhope in the Box and Hope on the street documentary. He's truly an Ace in the industry. And yesss Jhope live was AMAZING!!! I love them together ofc but I hope on their next break he gives us another tour because he was born for the stage.

Antoniya

Based on Google the other vocalist in Safety Zone is Bajan (Caribbean) singer song writer Jaicko Lawrence. He provided background vocals. Jhope's discography is easily my fav. His versatility and ability to select samples and collaborators amazes me. Even when you think about him selecting his dancers for his 2025 solo tour. Ugh I just love him. Lol.

C

They are reacting to solos albums rn , it’s coming

lomoko

J-hope sings at the beginning of Spring Day!

tacowaco

we’ve been here countless times yall the rapline CAN SING 😭😭💀 mind you jhope was literally SUPPOSED TO ORIGINALLY BE A VOCALIST IN BTS saying he should “stay in his lane” isn’t it part of what makes the bts members great IS the fact they don’t have “lanes” they do a little bit of everything and are versatile with their music and art

Maria

So excited!!!! Can’t wait for you to listen to hope on the street Hobis albums are so freaking amazing

mads

Guys surely you have heard equal sign and heard Hoseok enough now to know he can sing 😭 he’s literally got an official position as sub vocalist, he sings a verse and harmony in spring day with jungkook, and he does a lot of harmonies for bts tracks, I assure you, in times you probably thought it was jungkook in the background, some it would of been Hoseok, they have a similar vocal range. (I wrote this before seb said “sounds like JK” so I think my point stands correct 😭)

TAMA

That's kind of like saying to African American NBA Players to "SHUT UP AND DRIBBLE". Just my take on Sebastian's comment!

TAMA

Aya, PREACH!

Saha

this album is a banger fr

JungkooksNose🌟

I get what you're saying, but JK and Hobi definitely don't have similar vocal ranges, lol. I also don't think there would have been many instances where you could mistake Hobi's vocals for Jungkook's vocals or harmonies in BTS songs. I understand they said that in Equal Sign because they were surprised by how good his singing is, but I don't think there have been many, if any, times where someone would mistake Jhope's vocals for Jungkook's in BTS songs. They have very different singing tones

mads

Quite literally 2 seconds after I wrote this comment seb went “that sounds like jk.” Please don’t comment on singing if you don’t know anything about it, I have a further education degree in music and took multiple singing units. I never claimed their vocal ranges are THE SAME, I said they were similar. They are both tenors, who are specialists with harmony, Jungkook is around G₂ to Bb5 or a high C when utilizing falsetto and head voice, and Jhope is G₂ to around a high C, that is a very very similar range, almost identical, and high Cs are even high for a female to hit. The difference between Jhope and Jungkook’s vocals is their different uses of vocal texture and technique. But their ranges are basically identical.

Ahjusshi_Brown

LOVE that Hobi took it back to the roots of hip hop and went full boombap for most of this album. And even when he didn't, the melodic touch was also done so well. The album stands on its own, but it's absolutely FANTASTIC when he performs it live. As someone who was blessed to see Hobi live, he really seriously truly breathes so much life into these songs (all his songs, really) when he does them live. It's a treat to get to witness it fr

Ahjusshi_Brown

If you guys ever check out the "Hope on the Street" album/OST, you'll see another step in Hobi's evolution — though that project was created specifically for his dance documentary of the same name Actually, looking at "Jack in the Box" to "Hope on the Street" to the single trilogy (Sweet Dreams, Mona Lisa, Killin' it Girl), Hobi's evolution during their break was amazing to witness. I believe it's a big reason as to why he was so lethal during the aririang comeback/tour

Ahjusshi_Brown

Hobi performed all the JITB songs during Hobipalooza. So you've heard them all, just dont remember (or didnt associate the softer songs from that performance with this album)

Denise James

Please watch the MORE MV now, and the behind the scenes (to see whose bias made a cameo in the MV 😁) 🙏🙏🙏

Aris

Seb was right though, J-Hope is obviously soooo talented but the vocal line are better vocalists so the different lines make sense, I don't think Seb meant it in any kind of bad way at all

Khaycee Estinopo

We definitely didn't mean it in a bad way. We love all seven members and appreciate each of their strengths. Saying the vocal line are stronger vocalists wasn't meant to put anyone in a box or take anything away from J-Hope he's incredibly versatile and talented, and we love what he brings to the group and his solo work too 💜💜💜

Khaycee Estinopo

that's amazing! j-hope's vocals are honestly so addicting, and his harmonization with Jungkook blends so welll 💜

Khaycee Estinopo

Hahaha that's so true! 😂 we know equal sign, but somehow it hits us the same way every single time

Khaycee Estinopo

we definitely weren't saying hobi can't sing. we know he's sung in bts songs before and he's incredibly talented. anyway, great album!! we really enjoyed it and loved hearing his vocals on it too. 💜

Khaycee Estinopo

sorry if the "stay in your lane" comment came across that way. that wasn't our intention at all. we love hobi and know he's an incredibly versatile artist 💜

Khaycee Estinopo

honestly, at this point he should be added to the vocal line

Amicb

23:30 i think seb's theory here is pretty cool, but tbh that's lowkey the opposite of what the song actually represents. jhope is literally asking himself what would happen, how would his career and whole life change, if he had lost his passion and vision surrounding his art of music. it's like a similar meaning to black swan from bts, where they are asking themselves "what would i possibly do if i lost my passion for music, and what if i told you (as the fans and the world) that is exactly how im starting to feel right now? how would you see and treat me different?" the first verse is him admitting to the listener that he is not always the happy, hopeful guy we see on camera. he has so many responsibilities in the group and as an idol but does his absolute best not to show the negative impact on him. the second verse is him talking to himself as jung hoseok/jack in the box to jhope from bts. he says "you have all this money and fame but what would you do if you lost it all? would you be able to survive? would you still follow your dream and live your life if you lost all the materialistic things you benefit from?" it is also forcing the audience to think about how millions of people who genuinely have nothing to their name have to survive. it's like this internal psychological conflict of him confronting himself after becoming the famous popstar he never truly thought he would become, and trying to cope with it by separating the two identities (jhope vs jack) and having them talk to each other. this concept follows into the next song, safety zone, where he continues to describe the strange, lonely feeling of being a symbol of hope and a safe zone for everyone else, except for himself. he questions how he has been able to represent all this hope if he cant even find it in his own mind. it's like how we're always good at giving advice but not taking our own advice. and how your whole life is online so you wonder if you can find confort in yourself of you're not even the person you potray on camera to the fans every day.

I'm shocked that they haven't reacted to the MV of 'More'; it's one of the best MV, how no one suggested it??

I love J Hope - My Bias 100% - and I am not into rap - but I love his rap - I love his style!!!!

DeDe

J-Hope sang all of these songs at his first performance at Lollapalooza.

💜🩷🩵💜 Gentlemen, Apple Music has more detailed credits. Background vocals on Equal Sign is Melanie Fontana, for Safety Zone it’s Jaicko Lawrence. 📣 You just don’t remember, but you heard this entire album at Lollapalooza - Chicago. It was mixed with other songs, so this order wouldn’t help your recollection. 🫶🏽

"Stay in your lane" is the antithesis of Jack In The Box which is literally about j-hope breaking out of the box he's been stuck in as a member of BTS. (It's a really poetic story about Hope being called from Pandora's Box to fulfill his destiny of being an icon of Hope for the group and the world and Jack being left behind as this amalgamation of doubt, fear, grief, rage--all the parts of Jung Hoseok that were unfit for his Hopeful calling. Jack in the Box is Jack's story.) So "stay in your lane" is crazy. Plus, what we love about BTS as artists is their willingness to push their own boundaries and explore their creativity. No one does that more than j-hope. He's fearless and incredibly well-rounded and talented. He's never going to just deliver the same stuff over and over. Also, a lot of people have said it but just to reiterate, j-hope debuted as a rapper, dancer, vocalist. He's credited in the gang vocals on 80% of BTS' discography right alongside Jungkook, Jin, V, and Jimin. j-hope even provides vocals on some of the vocal line's solo songs (Filter, Serendipty, Euphoria, Singularity, Awake...). j-hope has probably the third best pitch accuracy in the group after Jungkook and Jin, and he has strong falsettos (that are often mistaken for Jungkook's) and strong belts, too. Plus, before BTS, j-hope sang in musicals all the time. He was cast as the lead in a musical in Gwangju that was a huge production (the posters with him on them are so cute). Like he's BEEN a singer since he was a kid. We're blessed in BTS with four incredibly strong vocalists so j-hope is needed on primary vocals less. But that doesn't change the fact that he could be a lead vocalist in most other k-pop groups. The fandom loves j-hope's vocals and I personally love to see him explore that. He sings a LOT in Hope On The Street Vol. 1, by the way. So prepare Seb for that, I guess...

Literally everyone thinks half of j-hope's vocals are JK's. A huge chunk of the fandom think it's Jungkook on Boy Meets Evil. There are countless clips of j-hope doing an awesome falsetto riff backstage and fans trying to claim it's actually JK somewhere off camera even though Hobi is right there with his mouth moving to the riff. Even on ARIRANG people thought his parts in Merry Go Round and They Don't Know 'Bout Us were Jungkook. So Hobi stans can tell the difference between the two but Jungkook stans (especially Jungkook solos) always try to claim Hobi's vocals as Jungkook's. I don't think they sound alike at all. I think Hobi's tone is rounder and fuller and Jungkook's is breathier and poppier (both beautiful but super different). Hobi also has more vibrato whereas Jungkook has more agility. But to say that they're impossible to confuse is crazy when the fandom credits Jungkook for j-hope's vocals every time he lays them down...

I'm sure she said that because Seb has done the same thing when it comes to Jin--complimenting him by saying "Wow...I thought that was Jimin at first..." as if he was impressed Jin could sound as good as Jimin. So I think Lisa was less targeting Jimin than just hitting on something that we keep coming back to--Seb qualifying his opinions about the qualities of the others vocals in comparison to his opinion of Jimin. It's a recurring thing so I got what Lisa was referencing.

Caliope

For me, after Michael Jackson, J-Hope is the most complete and charismatic artist.

sara ♡

It's not a recurring thing it has stopped now for a good few months because people have made him aware of this and he stopped mentioning Jimin in regard to other members and even sometimes credits Jimin's vocals to them. There was no need to target his Jimin bias when he has already dimmed his bias for the sake of the audience i.e YOU

Honestly relatable 😌

👏👏👏

Anj_HOTS🥰

Heard him sing ES sooo many times even during his concert, but it gets me every time especially when he's doing it live

Anj_HOTS🥰

Waiting for the documentary too 😁

JHope was always an amazing singer! maybe you can watch a compilation or something that highlights his singing!

Juana Quezada

Fun fact: Jhope when he auditioned, he auditioned for a part of the vocal line but he was put into the rap line because they needed another rapper. It is there in which he learned to rap a lot more and come up with his own style.

Juana Quezada

Oh and the person doing the vocals in Safety Zone is Jaicko Lawrence

OutsaO

Really?! The only one?!

t

he wasnt meant to be a vocalist, he joined as a rapper when bts was meant to debut as a rap group. he had a background in dancing, not singing at all

Armeen Afzal

I thought he was supposed to be the fourth vocalist instead of Taehyung and Taehyung was supposed to be the rapper? I could be wrong tho cuz it’s been years since I last read this somewhere
