Clarification for your confusion regarding streams @ 1:02:55 !! The video is saying that if you added the total streams of the top 10 most streamed songs, then Jimin would account for 65% of the total number of *streams*, not 65% of the songs. For example, if we were only looking at the top 2 songs, and #1 (by Jimin) had 9m streams whilst #2 (by a non-Jimin) had 1m streams, Jimin would still account for 90% of the streams despite there only being 2 songs and only one of them being his. Spotify only officially launched to the Korean market in 2021, before that there were Korea-based streaming services that were used such as Melon (the most popular), Genie, Flo, etc. The use of spotify by consumers in Korea coincided (sort of) with BTS' solo pursuits in 2022, at which point they were already well established and with highly anticipated solo careers. They briefly acknowledged their song popularity in AYS when JK and Jimin put on the Korea top 50, and the majority of the top songs were theirs 🤭

Seb dear!! I know this is a Jimin video and as a Jimin bias I adore you but be careful how you describe the members and I do respect your personal opinions. JK’s voice is far from generic. I know you didn’t mean any harm with that comment, but I don’t agree that that’s a good description of his voice. All the members of BTS have phenomenal voices, and JK is no different in his voice is so remarkably insanely versatile, just like the others. We don’t wanna pin that term generic on any of them. Love this birthday reaction. Thank you. I think people need to look beyond line distribution when it comes to Jimin. Yes, he is a lead vocalist, and there are times when he doesn’t get as many lines in BTS songs, including some tracks on the ARIRANG album. But let’s not forget what his voice brings to BTS’ music. Jimin has such a distinct vocal color that adds texture, depth and a uniqueness to their sound. His contribution isn’t measured by how many lines he gets, but by what his voice adds to a song. Take away Jimin’s voice, and BTS’ music would lose a very special part of what makes their sound so distinctive. And the same goes with his dancing. He is the main dancer for a reason. No explanation needed. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMIN.

I agree it's not the best term to use and hopefully he's aware of it. He could have phrased it as "more common or more conventional" especially if its been used in reference to how unique Jimin's voice is as the watermark of the group. Jimon’s voice is so unique and so vastly different from most male artists in the world. It’s hard to compare anyone to him, so I get where he was coming from trying to explain, but it sounded kind of negative to me. 🥹

It’s an honorific used to refer to men/women older than you 😊 The short explanation is that it’s a more respectful, professional version of hyung, which is why younger idols use it when referring to Jimin (instead of calling him hyung, which can come across as more casual/personal)

We're talking about streams here (how many times the songs have been played). 😄 E.g. If the total streams for the 10 most streamed songs in the Spotify Korea chart's history are 1,000,000, Jimin's songs hold 650,000 of those streams and other artists' songs 350,000. 💜

Conventional would definitely be a better word, but I don’t know if this this is just me but I don’t really think that for someone who is clearly an army in an army setting, every word choice has to be dissected. When I heard him make that comment I didn’t think twice about it cause it was clear what he meant, it was just a slight wrong word choice. In fact, in the context of where he said it, he was trying to shine more light on the other members’ voices besides Jimin. Although, I guess when you’re on social media it comes with the job that you have to be hyper aware of everything you say, I just find a lot of ARMY to be hyper-analytical (which to be fair is a testament to their dedication). I do ultimately agree what everyone is saying and it was all said respectfully so I’m not hating or trying to cause conflict (just in case it seems like that which I hope it doesn’t). 💜💜

I speak English as my second language, so I might not know all the negative nuances different adjectives have, but I don't think it's fair to latch on to just one word when Seb clearly didn't mean it in a bad way and even went on to explain that JK is a phenomenal and talented singer skill-wise, but you can quite easily find voices/tones similar to his. Even Charlie said that Jimin's voice is the only one unique sound-wise, at least among male singers. (Like, for example, back when 'With You' came out, a lot of armys thought Sungwoon was JK due to them sounding alike.) Respectfully, can we not make big deals out of everything that Seb says, especially when we know he's an army and loves all the boys. 💜 I feel so bad for him at times.

The video is like a compilation more than a proper introduction to Jimin. But it seems it's the most up to date. When it comes to unique sound, BTS' vocalists are unique. Just a warning, when you get into other groups, a lot of the vocalists sound so similar. Hybe groups tend to be better than other groups because the way they train is based on how BTS trained. The chief of talent development even references something that RM started which is to make trainees listen to a playlist of different genres and artists. To me, Jimin is the most angelic amongst angels and the funniest member. Even if I'm Hobi-biased.

Honestly, I think of BTS as soooo far beyond k-pop now that it feels kind of… outdated to me to think of the vocalists or rappers in “roles” or “ranks” anymore. All of them are so incredibly talented and have developed such unique tones/sounds/cadences to their singing and rap techniques that it hardly matters what k-pop designations they were given 13 years ago. I can’t imagine that the tannies care anymore about these designations, so it just sounds silly to me now.😅 But that’s just my opinion of course 💜 HBD Jimin!!!

I personally disagree with JK having a generic voice. I personally think all the members have pretty distinctive voices and are very easy to tell apart, but JK does indeed have the ability to kinda morph into so many different kinds of voices, which is probably also one of the reasons he is the main vocalist, because he is kinda a do-it-all guy, which honestly makes it even more impressive if you think about it

Just an additional detail because I find it so sweet: Jimin's dad said that Jimin wrote a letter full of his love and conviction for dance/performing in like 8th grade and this letter was the reason Jimin's dad fully supported his career choice because he could see his passion

The accolades and records sections go on forever and it got dull during that entire section T_T I felt that way even as a Jimin Bias, it's just a bunch of stats thrown at you at rapid pace for like 20 minutes straight. I really do think Jimin is such a positive influence on the lives he touches. Even Jungkook, the golden maknae, has said that Jimin is his catalyst, someone whose performance he watches closely and learns from. Those two really motivated each other quite a bit. 18:56 the word "sunbae" means "senior" in korean, referring to someone who has been working longer than you in your field. the "-nim" is a suffix added for respect. so the word sunbae is usually said as "sunbaenim." the opposite word is "hoobae" which means j"unior." so for example, BTS are TXT's sunbaenims, while TXT are BTS' hoobaes. also idk if you were kidding when you said Jimin is his last name but just in case, it is in fact his first name lmao. in korea they do not call people by their last names the way they do in japan. all of the bts boys have pretty common last names--Park, Kim, Jung, Jeon, etc.

Okay, I still don’t know if I agree, even when it comes to how versatile his voice is. If anything, he has the most versatile voice because of his vocal range. He can easily go both high and low, whereas the other members voices naturally sit somewhere between lower or higher registers, which can make it a little harder to transition smoothly from high to low and vice versa

There isn’t. Jimin pre debut life is more documented through interviews n articles since he was well known before BTS in Busan. Also he is the one with most successful records. You can watch 100 most iconic moments of each member by Sonyeondan but looks like it’s removed. Maybe copyright issues

Love the reaction! Per Sebs comment about JK, JK has said that he refused vocal lessons because he was afraid of losing his “color”. He really is a chameleon, he’s able to morph his voice to fit song types and I think that’s a huge talent I wouldn’t read too much on the comment. Ok, so my thoughts while watching this. I'm happy you guys got to learn a ton of new things about jimin. You guys seem to be surprised by alot of things especially his popularity. Although each member is hugely popular now...Jimin's "IT boy" title was given because 2018-2019 he ruled Twitter. He was constantly trending with millions of views, that's why there was so many memes of locals/ non-fans asking who the fck is jimin and wondering why he's trending. Generic means shared, common or unoriginal, i understand where they and you are coming from in terms of jungkooks versatility and how he has more mainstream appeal but generic is NOT the right word, and plays off as more of an insult rather than a compliment. It feels more like bringing someone down to push another person up. In a musical aspect generic doesn’t mean someone is more likely to be mainstream, it means someone lacks style, identity, uniqueness and doesn’t stand out, calling an artist generic is like calling someone boring. Obviously Seb didn’t mean it that way, but that’s what it means.

I can agree that it wasn't the best choice of words. Conventional is probably better as suggested in a comment above, but that's a synonym of the word generic. All the same, I was not offended by what Seb said because its pretty clear what he meant. For me a generic voice meant something like a genre typical voice. A voice with the characteristics associated to a specific genre. For pop it would be a voice with broad and universal appeal. Personally, I was more offended that Seb rejected Charlie's comment regarding the unique quality of Jimin's voice, lol. But I understood that Seb was trying to express that all the members have their own unique color. We all get touchy protecting BTS members. I get it and you explained yourself well.
