Okay, so we were a little overwhelmed by the early Maytreon results and figured all of you deserved a reward. So I accelerated my plans a bit and got this AMA ready for you guys a bit sooner than we'd planned.(Note to new patrons: You won't be charged for this post)

Heath just offhandedly invoked Einstein’s field equations and quantum information theory to describe how the information in his head would exceed the Schwarzschild radius of that volume if he tried to contemplate all of Eli’s Twitter activity. This is why I love these people.

Magichroma!

"and another thing" wasnt really good or bad, just weird

Re: nuclear. I used to be 100% in The camp of wanting more nuclear. However, it's time has past (at least for new nuclear). Both wind and solar have dropped precipitously in price over the last 10 years. Couple that with the fact that adding new solar and wind can be done easily within a year, new nuclear takes years. One other point, nuclear doesn't quickly ramp, which is an unfortunate requirement for it to pair well with renewables. This is consequently why with the rise of renewables you're also seeing natural gas take off. All this is to say that for the same amount of money and time, we can have much larger portions of our grid replaced with renewables. You can read all the numbers here https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=19&t=3 Long story short, renewables come in at around 2/5ths the cost of nuclear. Renewables major drawback is also ramping, for that, we need more grid scale energy storage (I think liquid metal batteries have a lot of potential, but have to laugh that flywheels, spinning a big heavy thing, are semi viable) All that said, I still think fusion is an important tech to develop, if for no other reason than space colonization.

That story about the child porn joke gave me flashbacks to when I did IT for a high school...

Part 1 was fun, great questions! And I don't know how much we learned, really, but it sure was funny.

The Reecer Family

Okay I’m new here, where do we submit our questions?

The Scathing Atheist

Each Month Eli will put up a new post for AMA. Sometimes he even remembers to tell the other guys. The last one is down a ways if you scroll. If you have other Q’s about the show in general, just post them anywhere and someone will get back to you when we see it!

I mean, I couldn't *not* become a patron after that promise of naked tickle fights or whatever it was.

Okay. Patreon's Pod player is fuckin' with me as always. Will some one please walk me through downloading the RSS feed to PocketCast for Android? I hope to hear the feed all the way through without frustration. Thanks! 👊🏼 Fist bump. What should I say instead of "Lordy! I'm trying to keep up!" ?

Canadian Puppeteers

For the Scrubs question, I think Heath is more like the Janitor - mysterious and cunning but funny and compassionate.
