The initial demo of new normal (sounded much more like the final version) was missing something. I took a break and tried it in a completely different direction (as this demo) and ultimately went back and did it the way it turned out. But this is an odd middle attempt at figuring out this song.

Could you post the original demo for new normal

Imhereforjacks

Should we be expecting a new extended soon?

Crim 5009

Wooo I’m vibin out here

Love the original so much! It’s so neat to hear how different the tone originally was. Glad you decided to take another direction with it because it’s probably my favorite song by you now!

Anonymous

This sounds like a reprise of the song if the final version was an album opener

Anonymous

Damn this kinda slaps

He said he was taking a break from extendeds to work on larger projects atm

Charis

I love how this sounds

Gary

Hey jack! It’s a long shot but I’d would mean a lot to me if you told me the meaning of Baby Hotline, it’s my absolute favorite song. But I just can’t seem to figure it out past theories and stuff. But maybe that’s your intention. Have a beautiful day you beautiful man.

Anonymous

This sounds cool, but I like that you went all in with the final version. Were there other songs you worked on that went in different directions than how they originally started?

V🎧

I feel like maybe you should work on this version a little more Not if you don't want to, of course, It would just be interesting to see how a more developed version of this demo would be, I really like the feel of this It gives me an emotion I can't describe

Wow es more dancing

egg

this reminds me of surfing in a vintage filter

Simon Moody

This still sounds incredible as per jeez

Erin Dook

This is actually so good, I love the final version so much I didnt expect to be as jazzed about this one but comparing them is honestly like comparing apples to oranges

Wow, it's incredible how different the moods for this track are with adjustments

E.M.Philyaw

I actually like this better

I honestly see this as the middle part to an extended version of New Normal. And in my opinion, I prefer this one. I can definitely imagine this as a beat drop or intermission from the regular track. Funky fresh!

Also, I think it would be really neat if you made some sort of album with all of your alternate / earlier song versions. Maybe just for Patreon, but that’s your decision. It could be called ‘Alternate World’ or something like that. (Just an idea!) Take care of yourself Jack.

I feel like this version is like a crazy person talking about the world but in the final version it feels like a person talking about an dark apocalyptic world

Crim 5009

Also jack if you see this, what is being said in one of the lines? It’s sounds like “familiar path, different lane” but I’m not too sure.

peri

this is really interesting

IamSoapBar

the title of the file "new normal demo 2" makes me curious if you had a demo 1 as well, was it in another style, or just a demo of this demo?

Andy Warholic

fanciful, whimsical.. thanks Jack.

They’re both sick dude

LoafBigBun

wait that means it’s going to get extended

Anonymous

I think that’s really interesting. I’ve learned in my acting classes to do the exact same thing, and I’ve found it also works with drawing. “Play the opposite” is what my director says. When something is missing from your work of art, try it in a completely opposite direction. Even if it didn’t necessarily improve the piece, it can add something you hadn’t thought of before.

Hey jack i was wondering what kinda clay u use?

Anonymous

Lol I actually like this version better to jam to, but the final product fits the vid better

Dezrea Jeann

I love this so much, if I can start crying within 45 seconds- it’s beautiful. Thank you

xXGhostPantsXx

I'm so glad I updated to the Al Dente tier!

I'm not Jack, but I think you should go with your own meaning. Art's ultimately a method of expressing emotions and they don't always pass from creator to audience in a perfect form. I think it's really important to still see the emotions that art instills in you as valuable rather than seeing the artist's own opinion as gospel. It is nice to see their intent behind it though so you can see the different elements interacting

I love this Jack! This version is great, and changes the moods dramatically, in an amazing way.

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry I just found out that it was your birthday the other day, hopefully it’s not to late for me to wish you a Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoyed your day, and have a good day today too!

Lilith June Seraph

i love New Normal, genuinely believe its your best work so far. genuinely brings me to tears and gives me goosebumps when i listen. I think its good you kinda went back and went the way you did.

IAmExistent

intriguing!!! you should’ve uploaded both versions, maybe like paralell worlds? like one could be as melancholy as it was, and then the other one could be happy but still with your creepy “filter” on things. this version is a bop, no cap!

lenmour

this is perfect
