'At that moment you decide to push the button.  Nothing happens immediately.  The being nearly reaches you but turns down the other hall.  The discharge field activates a moment later and now cages you.  You remain where you are in hope you could escape if the field de-activates.  But it only dissipates once your pursuer completed its trip.

After crashing into you it shifts its form to restrain you.   Your consciousness is able to resist but you feel too weak to regain any freedom.  You remain restrained for many long minutes.  Eventually the beings unlock the door you came in through.  Something approaches and begins to cover the rest of your body before you black out.'

~

You lost a life.  4 lives remain.

MrToastsandwich

What?! You can't be serious! What did we do wrong??

Andrew Frisina

Holy shit that's an absolutely fucking delicious game over. Do want. Man really glad we fucked up on this one. That posing is incredible.

Noir

I'm curious as to where this'll reset us.

MrToastsandwich

Yeah, I get that. But we tried to time it by looking at the placement of the tiles. Were he still three tiles away or something? I'm genuinely confused now.

MrToastsandwich

I swear, if we get reset at the start of this entire sequence…

CosmicNeko

If you could give a general ballpark, where are we in terms of distance to the end?

ozoneserpent

You better understand or you may lose even more lives.

Xenomata

The risk we took was calculated, but apparently we suck at math. One more tile of movement would have done the trick... or, you know, LEEROY JENKINS THE DAMN BOOGIE INSTEAD OF TRYING TO LURE IT IN.

MrToastsandwich

*Sigh* Can you at least tell me how many tiles away he were when we pressed the button?

Dotzrus

But why ram horns?

ozoneserpent

In the spirit of the battle you just waged. Cassandra and booby charging at one another.

CosmicNeko

Oh boy and we’re stumbling through this at an uncomfortably messy fashion

ozoneserpent

Two tiles away. If the booby had kept its course, it would have been zapped just like you planned.

MrToastsandwich

At this rate, I’ll be happy to just get to meet the other agent.

CosmicNeko

I assumed if we waited a bit longer it would have worked

LoboCharity

Misson failed we'll get em next time

MrToastsandwich

So you're saying that he was STILL too far away? He needed to be one tile away for it to work with the two second delay?

atomichagfish

I like that form the horns are cool 👍 I also like that it turned her into a living barrier to lock-down the hallway? that is also kinda cool

ozoneserpent

I'll leave this conundrum in your capable hands.

Vusvox

The answer is yes. We should have waited just a bit longer, given the evidence of what happened here.

Vusvox

Well darn! I finally get back from my holiday so I can focus better and it's to a game over. The hilarity.

Vusvox

We typically get reset to the aftermath of having picked the correct option.

MrToastsandwich

Clearly. I just don’t understand how that would have worked. Ozone said himself that the boogie moved one tile per second. By that logic, it would have moved right past the field before it activated if it was one tile away from us.

MrToastsandwich

Let’s just move on. I don’t even wanna think about how this works anymore.

Noir

Assuming the drone takes the turn again if we do wait one more second, it could be a matter of waiting one second longer, pressing the button, walking through the red spark gate while it charges so the drone gets trapped, and then making a dash for the door. If it knows the timing well enough that it doesn't though, then this will require a different approach.

ThatOneFennec

I love how done she looks in panel 2 x3

Blackheart55

I did wanted to wait, but I can’t do it if the majority votes otherwise

J8-Bit

Oof, didn't expect a delay

PyroJack24

Her expression as the Booby is taking over her mind is absolutely fantastic. I feel bad I was off in my choice of timing (I REALLY thought I had it right!) and while I'd have loved to see her fully transformed as she was in the locker all the way back at the start, the sudden shift from her being shocked the Booby snuck around, taking advantage of her poor timing, to her resistance fading away as it over takes her head is arousing and beautiful. And I love the Booby decided she'll become a ram Boogie. I'm falling in love with how they can customize Cassandra to go from a vixen to an entirely different species. Now I really do hope we reach the end, I want to see all the various kinds of animals/forms the Boogies will turn her into *without* the stress of a life limit.

ozoneserpent

Ah yes, how could I forget this was coming.

PyroJack24

I think we all misunderstood that the button arming on a count of 2 meant that was when to push it; Ozone said Cassandra's suit boosts her to peak physical condition, but we don't *know* what Cassandra's peak even is. How are we to know if, when the door opens on the count of 5, Cass can reach and pass through in 2 seconds? Or if it will seal once shut, or opens on every count of 5, like it opens every 5th on a second? Right now, we only know it is NOT fast enough to out run a Booby. She was caught just as she pushed the button in the locker room, but she wasn't fast enough to out race the pair in the room we looped over and over at. The Booby moved a single tile a second; if it can catch Cassandra within 5 seconds, then she's too slow to reach the door with 2 remaining, more so because she has to run the shorter hallway, herself. We're lacking what Cass CAN do with her suit, because everyone's peak is different.

ozoneserpent

With all the game overs where I only describ her fading consciousness, it was good to finally get to one where you can actually see it in her eyes.

ozoneserpent

The door opening on five probably means once you reach the door you'll have to wait five seconds before it opens.

ThatOneFennec

Just relax and enjoy the ride, even in failure we get sweet drone sequences~

Bulky

YAAAS, this is the best one!

ozoneserpent

There's betting, calling, folding...and one more action you could take.

The Blue Bandit

(Takes deductions and drops them in the trash.) Why do I bother? No more advice from me, I think. Seems my logic is a detriment in this game.

Stryth

I think I get it, the boogy knows the field is there, it sees our hand on the switch, and it know what the field will do to it, so it's not gonna fly through it as long as we can hit the button. Maybe if we were to hit the switch while it was three or four tiles away, we can force it into the side passage, then wait for it to be 2 tiles away BEHIND us, (the field should drop before that) then we hit the switch again and run for the door. Either the boogy will get stuck behind the field and double back or wait, or It won't realize we hit the switch again and get fried, either way we should get to the door before it catches us.

PyroJack24

I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful streak in the future!

MrToastsandwich

I’m gonna be real with you, I’m not really into the boogie girls personally. It’s just not my cup of tea and certainly not the reason why I follow Ozone’s art. But you’re right, we’ve come too far to give up now. We are agents, we don’t give up until it’s over!

MrToastsandwich

I know how you feel man. I had a moment of weakness myself. But it’s not over yet, we can’t give up.

Romanov Sharansky

The big boogie muff around both her feet is nice! The way you shade and textures never fails, love the squishyness they always have.

Vusvox

I learned to quit stressing over this when I actually started to let it get a little too stressful for me. Getting so worked up over what is ultimately a fun online adventure seems pointless. Just me, though. Still, I want us to succeed too. We got a few chances left, and I certainly ain't giving up!

Vusvox

Honestly fascinating how many ways these things can change their hosts. And according to ozone in a previous comment, it was because the booby recognized some kind of challenge being posed here. I recognize that the loss is dire, but I cannot help but be enamoured by these transformations, it's like something tickling my inner biologist. Regardless, it's not over yet. I'm committed more to winning than to sating my curiosity at our collective detriment, and said curiosity may well be sated at the end anyway. Steady on, I say- we're still in this.

BivPlays

I don't think I'm gonna vote anymore, abandoning this ship before it sinks

Kirishala

Well dangit, I had thougth that was the right timing. Though at least we have learnt that the Booby class Boogies are smart little buggers, and that is an interesting form that Cass ended up as

ozoneserpent

This situation could turn even uglier like the last time we were stuck in a room with one booby, so be careful agents.

Tabithecat

Honestly, I'd love to see the completed Ram form.

Vusvox

I'm dauntless and full of faith! We can do this.

MrToastsandwich

Never give up, never surrender. Am I right, agent?

Vusvox

Aye.

PyroJack24

I share that sentiment. I think that's the flaw of a Booby; they disable and add someone to the hive, but there needs to be a least two to fully coat and convert a subject.

Zapher

ok seriously i really enjoy this series and its a really great way to encourage engagement with your patrions! thank you for being awesome ^_^

ozoneserpent

Thank you for the kind words Zapher. And yea it really does get all hands on deck. I had the itch for doing something like this.

Bro223

Ha! Boogie smart enough to know gamer logic! That ended so close to the way I called it. XD

a b

To be honest to me here it looked more like she was annoyed XD
