I think at this point in the 90's people were kinda use to cliffhangers, especially because of all the shows from the 80's that were notorious for them, like say Dynasty, Dallas etc. I remember people knowing it was going to come back but anticipating. And back in the 90's you didn't have to wait a whole year for another season. The shows probably went off early in the year and the new season was back on in September.

I just realized the wnbc joke in the intro was a shot at the real NBC network that banned Martin after they didn't like his Saturday Night Live monologue

lakeshoredr

The opening scene when Martin says "WNBC wont even talk to me, it's like I've been banned" alludes to him being banned from NBC. Martin was banned from NBC/Saturday Night Live after his opening monologue on February 19, 1994 for going off script and making jokes about female genitalia.

Well Hello Silly

That's what I was thinking too (Like there's some animosity there, but I didn't know why) Thanks Brandon 🤙-M@

It was just a cliffhanger. They always happened back then. We just had to wait until next season. But we were all talking about it though.

"He was runnin' with the slow bop, Gina!" lmao

My friend gave me that T-Shirt for my birthday this year 😂😂😂

Cliffhangers were huge in the 80s and 90s. I was going into my senior year in high school when this season ended it was a long 3 months till season 3 but it was worth the wait 😂😂😂

Yes exactly Our minds went Straight to "please let martin be on for another season" because back then a TV Show's season would end in early or late May. We would have to wait until sometime in July to see if you're favorite Show got picked up for another season or did it get cancelled. A lot of good TV Shows ended with cliff hangers like this & Never got picked up for another season. Could you imagine Martin ending after just two seasons and with this cliffhanger. Thank God Martin was so popular that it lasted for 5 seasons. If it wasn't for the Drama behind the scenes during season 5. I think Martin could've lasted 3 or 4 more seasons.

Martins next venture will be way better than the radio station. You'll see

Anthony Turner

When this aired OMG ,I was like NOOOO!!! It was torture back in the day when your favorite shows left on a cliffhanger. All my friends and I were talking about it. It was a funny episode but at the same time I remember having a sad feeling. I believe My Martin did BAD BOYS after this season.

I actually have a “ Whitey Hutton Worl Toor” shirt 😂😂😂😂😂 I bought it online. Also , keep in mind: there was no binge watching , so you had to tune in every Thursday night 8pm to rewatch old episodes until they announced the new season, and that was IF it was coming back. Sometimes your favorite shows just stopped , and you wouldn’t know it
