TL;DR: I would love some feedback. Should I be making my comics shorter? Maybe a middle ground between the Suburbification sequence and Ronny to Connie? Or do we like the long comics?

I've started to think of what is going to come next after Ronny to Connie and I have a few ideas who are contenders.

I have a story that's been floating around that I think I have mentioned before called Your Mom's Friend where a guy comes home after a year away at college and connects with his townie childhood friend but ends up really clicking with his mom and her friends. They then offer him a more complete way to blend in with a potion/drug/something that temporarily changes him. Until the feminine changes want to stubbornly stick around...

You get the idea.

The problem with that is when I plan it out in my head it's going to be a ton of pages which means a lot of time. Which I like because I don't see a lot of that in the TG space online and I like doing it. But I would be lying if I didn't say there was a bit of stress trying to get these updates out in a timely manner what with life and rewriting the script and adding and subtracting pages as I go.

I worry that people get bored when it takes upwards of a year to finish one of these long form comics.

When I took a short pause to do that Suburbification comic for Septender over on TGcomics I thought that worked pretty well as a narrative and because it was only ten pages I could color it. Though I did feel like I had to leave a lot of story untold. Who are these other women? What was their relationship like that lead them to offer him a permanent position in their circle? What was Michael and Scott's relationship and what was the aftermath like after Scott turned into Vanessa?

So I find myself kind of torn. I want to have it all. I want a shorter comic so I can produce more stories faster. Because I have this Goth Girl transformation idea floating around that might be a good 10 to 20 page sequence. I have a kind of survival horror kind of story where instead of zombies it's housewives and a cast of teens find themselves the unwitting victims to a town full of (inhuman?) women where one scratch dooms you to become one of them. I have a sequel to Mommy Dearest I've even thought about. I have an idea that is both an MtF and a FtM at the same time. I want to do a parody of the "homeowners becoming their parent" commercial.

Then a few of you have reached out to me to do commissions and I'd love to do more of those too.

So I'm not sure what route to go down.

Do I keep doing the long form comics that go past 50 pages and take months? Or do I do some smaller Sequences that clock in around 20 pages? My fear is that I might not feel creatively fulfilled if I can't explore the other things that surround the transformation. That's not to say these are off the table. I have some simpler stories that I think I'd like to use these for.

Do I try and find a comfortable medium between the two?

Also, would you guys be interested in illustrated stories for the longer and more complex stories that would take years to complete. I could do like 90% writing and 10% illustrations to depict characters, locations, pivotal scenes and the transformation.

Anyways, thanks for reading my ramble! Let me know what you think. Are these comics too long? Do they take too long to come out? What do you wish I would do?

I gotta go back to finishing up the next part of the Ronny to Connie script now!

I’m easy any way but I do love the slow burn stories

I'm fine with anything at any rate personally. That one story reminds me of the movie From Dusk til Dawn where the character Sex Machine (actual character name played by Tom Savini, he did zombie effects for George Romero and all sorts, but I digress) gets bit on the hand and tries to hide his transformation as long as he can until he interrupts someone else's backstory monologue.

Personally, I'd be interested in themes that don't have to do with mothers and being middle-aged. Feels like that's been done a couple of times now.

I agree. The next one I do more than likely is going to skew younger. Mix it up a bit! Right now I'm leaning toward the Goth Girl idea.

Oohh yeah! I haven't seen that movie in forever. But yeah that's the kind of thing I want to include in that. I feel like all these stories have an element of horror but that one would be explicitly so. Also this story has been churning for like a decade now. I have a three inch stack of paper on my desk of sketches where I've revisited and played with this idea. It might have been put on this pedestal and I'm afraid to touch it. Or maybe this is a good candidate to do chapters. Do you think having an illustrated chapter and then a written one would work? The written chapter being one that doesn't focus on the physical transformation as much?

AutumnNatural Comics

Me too. It was kind of my mission statement when I started this. I didn't just want to do a 3 panel poof transformation. I wanted to tell a story. Though I still might be able to do that with the hybrid idea that I'm gonna start playing with.

'Tis the season to watch spooky movies. :) It sounds good, but I guess you'll have to write it and post it first to really find out. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take, or something or other. Your art is good, we literally give you money to see it and this, to me, sounds like a fun concept, so go for it!

I absolutely love your work and your slow burns. Your one commission(?) where a belt transformed a guy into a milf was great and I feel like that’s a good middle ground where it handled the changes great with wonderful pacing!

That's true! Maybe I'll pick a way it over the winter. After I start chilling out and watching some horror this week. Including my annual The Craft watch :)

Thanks! Yeah that one struck a chord. I enjoyed it. I think it was the first one where I had some freedom to illustrate the transformation outside of a script and parts of that has informed how I am approaching the transformation parts in the coming pages of Ronny to Connie.
