Motown changed everything, and we wouldn't have the modern music scene without it! This week we're diving into the people, the sound, and the factory the made Motown, and make direct connections to today along the way.

NOTE: This edit is slightly longer than YouTube, includes more music, and a few other things that didn't make the YouTube cut.

LOL! This was really good! I heard that Barney Ales *might* have had some connections to the 'mob' - I was listening to a podcast a while back that played one of the promotional records that Ales would send to radio stations, and it had a " you should play this if you know what's good for ya" kind of vibe to it LOL! Motown did what it had to do to break through barriers though lol...

Lovely! Used to do some mixes with hip hop/electronic beats and over the top of Motown/Stax classics... Difficult but crowd pleasing. There's an amazing documentary called Standing in the Shadows of Motown that delved deep into who the Funk Brothers were and what they contributed to cooking pot that was Motown. Came out in the early 00's, and blew my mind. Edit: here it is. https://youtu.be/BL9fF4Jtovc?si=2ZTGnYvhvb9_roTk

I actually cut a line from this video that was exactly that 😂 cut it just cuz for the flow of the video it wasn’t necessary, but he was Sicilian and some people thought he was a straight up mobster

Berry Gordy dancing made my day!

Daniel Hoskins

It also seems like Ales and Stevie Wonder were the only two people to get much money out on Berry Gordie!

Jeff Green

Ok, this is fucking fantastic, extremely well done. The cuts for the appearing/disappearing were absolutely fabulous.
