This week we're talking all about that big new Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, the big sales numbers of Expedition 33, and Mafia: The Old Country just got a release date, price and gameplay reveal.

Send in your thoughts, questions, or topics you'd be interested in us discussing! We won't have time to read and discuss everything, and please keep posts topical, safe for work and not huge walls of text.Submissions close at 6 PM CT on Thursday, May 8th.

I've never played a single GTA but I liked Cyberpunk, think I'll like 6?

Not much to say about the actual topic but I realized I’ve been on the Patreon for a while but didn’t know you could write in. I usually can’t catch these live but just huge thanks for this podcast, wouldn’t have heard about or played through Tunic or Nine Sols if not for you guys! Next is Expedition 33

I wonder if since there's two different characters, if we'll be able to switch at any time like in GTAV, or if we'll have to pick one to stick with at the beginning of the game. I could see the possibility of each main character having some different side missions that weave through a central plot line tied in with the character you chose not to play as. They might serve as a buddy NPC in certain main missions. Would be pretty cool and add to replay value.

Do you guys think the state of America has reached the satire of GTA talk radio stations, and where does that leave satire left to go for the new game's talk radio? Apparently Ted Lasso voiced the crazy Alex Jones type guy in 4, and hearing it now he did a spot on job, uncannily so!

I'm about 10 hours into Expedition 33 and I adore it. The Gestrals are so fun. What awards do you see this game being nominated for and potentially winning? I cast my vote for best music.

Great news for Clair Obscur. I just got my January preorder from Amazon yesterday. Do venues not report preorders to the publisher? I am confused why there wasn't enough copies made to meet at least the preorder demand, and the only thing that I can think of is that the publisher is printing blind, unaware of just how many copies are actually being ordered from retailers.

You think any unannounced release dates might get announced now that the danger of a fall GTA 6 release is gone?

Far Too Many Frogs

I don't think so. I love Cyberpunk but I didn't like any GTA game I played.

I don't have much to say here other than "Hello, ya'll are doing great and the premiere of Storycraft was amazing"😄❤

Anyone else like me and has been stockpiling physical games their whole life? You can financially price me out of my hobby, but you can never take my replays!! Edit. Just announced the may 26, 2026 release of GTA6. Other developers must be so fucking relieved!

There's something I've been thinking about lately. I am very much a 'wait for a sale' gamer. How does this affect the industry. For instance, I recently played through the Shadow of War games that I bought for like $10 during the last sale. If I had bought them at launch and bought all the orc boxes or whatever they were, would it have made a difference in Monoliths fate? E33 is currently on my wishlist. Should I buy it now at full price to support the devs? Does it even matter in the current industry? Sorry for the long post.

Would like to hear your general thoughts on the business model of retreating to their mountain for 10 years and then walk out with a almost assured banger. Personal thought on gta6: it looks amazing. I'm curious about how the dual protagonist dynamic will work, but I'm looking forward to play it. Their s stories are generally solid but it will be interesting if they can out-satire the reality we live in.

If not here, then the next The Rewind or a Darren column, but I'm interesting in hearing thoughts about Nathan Fielder's The Rehearsal Season 2. The show is pure insanity and genius. I just respect the hell out of it. No show makes me think and laugh out loud by myself more.

ergotpoisoning

I think GTA needs to move beyond pure satire and start having a point of view that it articulates. Satire is subversive but doesn't really advocate for anything. Same way a show like Veep or The Thick Of It wouldn't land the same today - kind of feels like fiddling while Rome burns

Can someone explain to me why GTA is so popular? I am 28 and have never played any and honestly have 0 interest. Am I broken?

Angelnickl

Never cared for GTA myself, I didn't get the appeal to the base games, understood the multiplayer appeal a bit...but never desired to play it. Have a good podcast!

GuyBamboo

Hate to break from the topic, but Marty I loved your article on watching Gundam 79! You said you’ve started the new GQuuuuuuX series, I’d love to hear some more of your thoughts on it.

I'm the same way. Up until pretty recently I've always waited for sales. When it comes to indies I'm more willing to pay full price or closer to full price to support the devs, especially if they have a launch week sale (since that's usually in the $20-$40 range, if not cheaper). But if a game is more than that, the only way I'll buy it is if I played the demo and absolutely loved it. I paid full price for Lies of P at launch with no regrets after playing the demo a few months before, and it was probably my favorite game of 2023. With many AAA games now in the $70 range and looking towards $80.... Why pay $70-$80 for one AAA game when I can buy three or four indies at the same price or less that I'll probably spend more time in and might enjoy more?

Insomnia Inc

I was always more of a saints row guy but I enjoyed the hell out of GTA5, dunno what I think yet, looks like a GTA game. So for a question have you see or heard anything about this Gothic remake we're getting? is that even on your radar? keep up the awesome.

Far Too Many Frogs

Do you think we'll see more resistance from second and third party developers/publishers, in both the double-A and triple-A space, to the $70-80 pricetag like with Mafia, Atomfall, Oblivion, and South of Midnight?

Far Too Many Frogs

no, i'm the same age as you. tried it, didn't like it. it's a hell of a narrative game though. A satire that's a total breakdown of American culture from an outsider's perspective in the beginning, and it's been a mainstay of both the games industry and marketing-by-controversy. Kids I was around growing up loved it, but I didn't get the appeal. tried 3, 4, and 5 all, and couldn't get into any of them.

Inverse Skies

I think the real question is which one of you is going to draft GTA 6 for your league next year?

Mrticketron

Are we about to see a whole lot more nailed down release dates for later in the year now that gta6 is sorta kinda nailed down

bluemage27034

I am also a sale gamer, but I really like your name.

bluemage27034

With switch 2 game prices what they are, what will gta VI retail at upon launch?
